Why would people be unhappy? The whole point of this is to see cases dropping. It is a vindication of the path taken and that the measures have worked. I know you want to believe in your make-believe land that some people don't have genuine empathy but instead some fetishisation of this lockdown. I can't roll my eyes far enough at these ridiculous comments.

My comment about the borders if you had bothered reading the post I was replying to was that I don't feel lockdown for any longer to completely supress the virus is of much benefits considering we don't then have a closed system after so it likely we will have to deal with new cases in the future regardless.

RIP the 10 people who died

And it's great to see a large drop in the number of cases

What's more, they were doing 4000 tests a day and averaging 3%. One day is not something to get too excited about but the overall trend is very much downward.

Why would they do that? What benefit is to be gained?

Ffs. It’s not about one day, it’s the overall trend that leads to today.

There are some who believe it is everywhere we go and others whose alarm about this disease will only be quelled with a vaccine. Caution is the watchword and sticking we've been asked to do for now.

I don't think anybody is angry there are less cases either. Everyone on here is genuinely delighted the number of cases are going down.

It's the 'Yeh but' group after another positive update that has people frustrated.

There have been very selfish people for a number of weeks now disobeying lockdown. House parties, non compliance, travelling wherever they wish.

But the truth is, these selfish people have not negatively impacted our case numbers thankfully.

So the 'Yeh but' people can relax a little really. Until the non selfish people (the majority) of us start to interact with a lot more frequency in Phases 4 and 5+ then there shouldn't be a significant rise in cases. And hopefully at that stage the virus will be flatlined in the community.

I'm seeing many people gathering in larger numbers now.

It's been happening for weeks now and guess what the numbers are still dropping. Maybe social distancing is enough.

Lidl seemed extremely relaxed today but none of that. I do like how this situation has forced them to make shorter aisles. So much easier to get around!

I'm Ok with caution for the summer although I do genuinely believe the later phases will be accelerated as we stand.

So what makes you think there’s a backlog from Thursday?

I’m on about last Thursday week regarding last Sunday numbers.

Number of daily cases this week

    Monday - 139
    Tuesday - 109
    Wednesday - 159
    Thursday - 426*
    Friday - 129
    Saturday - 92
    Today - 64

*Not all daily new cases as good number of Thursdays cases was from March

Last Thursday week May 7th having since checked it had 137 cases that day

That's good news so. Lots of people gathering and the R0 continues to decline anyway. Thanks for the bit of optimism.

It will only be quelled with a vaccine. The numbers are great and lets hope they continue but you will see some increase as the lockdown is eases. Nothing to be alarmed about as more will be out but people have to remember they have to continue withe the social distancing and coughing and sneezing into your elbow and washing your hands

I'd rather they talk in their own groups instead of letting people go in between them while they continue on chatting.

Yeah numbers may rise a bit but we should be able to deal with them now, which is the healthy perspective. I know people potentially at risk and most will be happy to be back out in the world.
