So the WHO has said that we may never be able to get rid of this.

It's going be such a sad miserable life carrying on like this.

You really need to take a chill pill :)
Have you anyone around with a bit of a positive outlook to cheer you up?

I'm very hopeful on the vaccine from London. That one looks very promising. I read on a different forum so I don't know if it's true, it was developed for MERS and the MERS vaccine was already in trials. All they had to do was tweak the MERS vaccine to this Covid19.
If true, it looks to be the most promising. Fingers crossed.

There is no such thing as a promising vaccine. Until trials are complete no one has any idea if it is safe and effective.

But it seems to be going on forever. Why don't you answer my question instead of tripping me up on a technicality?

A technicality! Not knowing the difference between the word indefinitely and immediate future..

There's a plan of return to work in place. That means the borrowing will have an end date. Or in other words won't be indefinite.

Just mentioned on Virgin Media that it could be 6.30 or 7 as the NPHET meeting is not long finished.

In before “why can’t they just pick a time and stick to it like everywhere else”

Briefing pushed back to 6.30pm. Dunno does that mean more 6.45/7 so.

Surprised the NPHET meeting is gone over time. Surely there's not much to be considered with regards to Phase 1? Unless there has been a major increase today.

I'm curious, has Leo ceded all power to Dr Holohan and Nphet?
Surely Holohan and Co are an advisory group and not a policy group.

With those numbers I don't see any valid reason as to why phase 1 can't go ahead on Monday. A tad bit of freedom! Roll on phase 1.
I think we can probably take Monday as a given at this point. The only vaguely interesting bit is how they'll approach face covering advice.

That meeting was scheduled and well-flagged. The political stuff from it was always going to be tomorrow.

Aids is still about, although thats gonna probably scare you even more.

I'd say they are killing each other over face coverings!

I'm generally a fan of how COVID things have been done (asides from testing obviously) but the whole face coverings issue is a joke. They should've been recommended weeks ago and could possibly have saved lives.

We will adjust and return to normality, treatments will emerge, testing will get really good and for most people it'll have no effect on their lives.

That's not what I was asking. Leo and the government gave a date of 18th for phase one. Businesses are gearing up to open Monday. The mood music from Holohan and Co is they have yet to make the decision as to whether the restrictions will start to lift Monday. So again I wonder who is actually in charge of the country a democratically elected leader or an unelected civil servant who was twice asked to resign due to his handling of the cervical smear scandal.

We're not going anywhere on Monday I'd say.

Literature on it is mixed and some of them are really dead set against it due to weak evidence. I think it's emerged at this point as a psychological support but also as possible, but weak mitigant especially with expected larger numbers out and about. The next question is how long they want to keep that going.

Is this more from the care homes? We need to know where these originate.

No, includes delayed cases. Wait and see what they say.

Dr Holohan will explain shortly.....apparently it's a backlog going back weeks, not new overnight cases
