Thats correct, thicker side up, i never clean the flavour bars,

Are you using patio gas or butane? If it's butane it won't be as hot.

I have the gbs one, it’s compatible with the Weber gbs bits like the pizza stone (which is ringing it’s way to me for my birthday), the blurbs suggest the first one has enamel grates which I don’t think sear meat great. You’ll easily cook for 4 on it and for 10 you’ll need to be very organised.

They both have GBS grill, the first one comes with it as a free accessory as well as a cover that would cost around 100. I had a version of the first one and it was a excellent bbq. They lid on the second one looks very low limiting you on size of rotisserie chickens. the frame on the first one does tend to rust on the bottom where the gas bottle is meant to rest, mine was 3 years old and was showing sines of corrosion on the base. I don't know what the second one would be like for corrosion

Whats the best way to clean these porcelain-enamelled weber grates? Give them a good old brushing on the top after every cook, but noticed the under part (thinner bit) is nicely coated with grease now. Just scrub them with the brush also?

A week ago you could have got the top one for 450 euro- it’s an older model of the bottom one. If back in stock and buying the bottom one make sure it has cast iron cooking grates like the top one not porcelain enamel grated which rust.

Someone mentioned rust on Weber e210 where gas goes _ this only applies if you are purchasing the small gas canister that can fit under the hob if you wish- but most people go with the full size gas canister that sits beside the BBQ - pulling a metal canister in and out of the base will likely lead to rust over time alright

Me neither- they do rust away though after a few years- I’m on my second set - I leave the BBQ out and covered all year around though so they get a lot of use

Sorry i was just using the bottle location as a description as to where they rust, i never had a bottle inside mine and did get surface rust, paint bubbling to the point where i stripped it back, treated the corrosion and re painted it with color match paint.

as those weber 210 deals are sold out I'm now looking at the Sahara X350 Red on sale at €379. Unfortunately the newer black version with the grill insert system is sold out.

Seriously though - How thick are they? Why didn't they just reduce the RRP by 50 or 100 max then they would have some hope of scamming people. Knocking 400+ off the price is a tad stupid!!

For smoking on a gas bbq, does anyone have a view on whats better - the tube shown in the video in the first post, or the smoke box that goes under the bars? Or are they used for different things?
