Joffrey. God I loved to hate that guy. Great acting.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Joffrey puts down Ned with a 6-1 victory.

Fwiw while Ned's time was shortlived, I'd argue it was one of the more impactful of any character. His death was the catalyst for multiple season/book long arcs, and was the first 'shocking oh my god they just did that' moment of the books and the TV series.

Jack Gleeson played Joffrey well, but imo he was a very cartoonish and stereotypical villain, particularly in the show. Absolutely no redeeming qualities at all. It's something that Jon Snow gets criticized for too but I think Joffrey is cut from the same cloth in being incredibly one dimensional.

But ho hum, the crowds have decided.

    Match 8:

Two of the more loveable characters collide here. The physical fight would end one way. How will the voting fare?

    Tormund Giantsbane

    VS

    Podrick Payne

Love them both, but think it has to be Tormund Giantsbane for me. Steals every scene he's in and brings a lot of levity to the series.

    Tormund.

His unrequited love for the big woman Brienne of Tarth was comical.

He'd a decent innings once the wildings were introduced and was a very lovable and loyal character to the end.

Podrick did'nt do it for me,one dimensional apart from his exquisite rendition of Jenny of Oldstones.

Tormund, he was a bit of fun but seriously fearless and badass

We're dangerously close to agreeing on a lot of things :pac:

Tormund Giantsbane for me too. Him & Brienne has me laughing out loud!

Book Joffrey wasn't so one dimensional. I read him as having a superficial charm and boy-band good looks. Something that would at least lend credence to why Sansa had a crush on him in the early days. There was zero reason why TV series Joffrey would have interested Sansa at all.

Think Tormund Giantsbane needs another vote. Likeable character with a bit of comic relief.

Collie D has the count nailed to a tee and Tormund cruises into the next round with a 6-0 win

Of those two, Dany, more interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,181 ✭✭✭Lady Haywire

I do like Danerys but she became a bit of a madame. So the humble knight for me.

Davos is sound but Dani is Hot. I vote Dani T.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Davos, because first off he's great, and secondly Dany should be long gone from the contest already as she is literally the worst...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 734 ✭✭✭Aceandstuff

Davos. Dany never really did it for me, and was a massive disappointment in the last two seasons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,489 ✭✭✭Niska

Ser Devos - clutches fingerbones for luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,503 ✭✭✭✭TheValeyard

Davos. The most heroic and moral character of the entire show.

Edit: Davos, not Davros, he be different

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

You could definitely have a few drinks with him and chill.

Danny did her job of keeping that Sansa pleb out. She is of no further use.
    Davos all the way!

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 56,885 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

The Onion Knight marches on and Danerys again exits the competition... this time for good. 6-2 the scoreline

Ser Davis. When all around him were dropping like flies he somehow managed to make it to the end in one piece.

    Match 10:

This next match could be fiesty. The strongest female character collides with arguably the sharpest female mind
    Brienne of Tarth

    220px-Brienne_of_Tarth-Gwendoline_Christie.jpg

    VS

The Queen of Thorns, Olenna Tyrell

The mother of dragons character evolution was very interesting.

Many including myself slated her transition to war crimes and genocide.I thought she was capable of much to retain power but she was the breaker of chains.Missandei's death caused her to snap.

Her journey across Essos was dragged out and the whole Jon Snow Rhaegar Lyanna incestuous love affair did not work.

Ser Davos's role as Stannis's wise counsel and moral conscience worked to a point. His dislike of the Lord of Light and Melisandre and her wickedness in Stannis's daughter sad demise painted a decent human being.

Ultimately though he overstayed his welcome and should have died at the Battle of Winterfell.

    Daenarys gets my vote.

Olenna Tyrell, a put down from her would hurt more than a bang from Brienne's sword.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Brienne is cool. She died saving Sansa and Arya so deserves to go through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,286 ✭✭✭seligehgit

The Queen of Thorns a worthy adversary of Cersei to the very end.Joffrey met his demise after Maegary confided in the Queen of Thorns.

Diana Rigg has still got it.

Brienne of Tarth TBH bored me.

Lady Olenna was class, and as the people's wildcard I can't not vote for her in this pairing
