    Keep up the wishful thinking!

The number of new cases is just too high and needs to fall significantly in to the low tens for us to have a chance.

As of now, today with those figures, we can't realistically open.

You have to live with it, not beat it. Let it get through the polulation and be done with it.

The way Ireland is tackling it, you beat it, then unlock the lockdown new cases occur then what.. The inevitable just get on with it.

A chance of what? Surely the 18th is a certainty. Tony can hardly keep delaying things forever.

You'd have to wonder where these people can be still getting it.

You can look no further than here.

There are posters panicked about risks to the economy and their livelihoods yet what are they doing?

They are telling people to ignore the rules, that it's no big deal.

That's the mentality you are dealing with and that gets us in trouble in the end.

The measures are there for a reason.

Christ almighty! The whole point of the restrictions is completely lost on you. You want an overwhelmed health service so you can get on with your 'normal'. You need to get used to the idea of a new normal going forward.

So nothing to do with the mass testing of the mental health sector firstly staff then patients which started late in the week, also workersi n meat processing plants across the country are been tested.
Blame the community when we have a break down of the numbers.

My neighbours have been drinking all day in their back garden with their friends, pretty infuriating given the effort that everyone is making.

You are too negative at times.

Also useful to look at David W Higgins's table showing the progress being made in each county:

Yeah, for some reason since Presidents Leo's last theatrical address. Large cohorts of people have decided it is fine to drink in other people houses as long as they are out the back.

Not sure how many them would have outhouses though.

According to Doctor Tony's "surveys" and power point presentations none of that is actually happening.

    Be grand sure!

Dr. Tony's data shows that by and large compliance is being maintained

Where I live it's not changed much at all the past few weeks

I’ve a good example of the impact of delays in testing feedback. Family member is in section A of a nursing home, section B is separate. Person tests positive in section B mid April. Nobody in section A with the virus. Testing for everyone introduced then. Family member was tested. One and a half weeks later, the results come back- negative. But someone else in section A comes back positive, so they have been in contact with a positive case unbeknownst to them for 1.5 weeks. A few days later, the family member is taken to hospital, Covid symptomatic. Tests positive, less than 4 hour turn around. Those 1.5 weeks were crucial.

Dr. Tony's data is largely based on surveys.

Because Nobody ever lies on a survey, especially when they are doing things they shouldn't be doing.

From what I have seen and have been hearing from others - it's been party time, not everyone but a considerable cohort.

Remember it only takes 5-10% of people to act the bollix.

    Some of his Data is.

A lot of the behavioral data is based on phone surveys.

Did you go to a BBQ this week in your neighbors?

    - Erm, ah, No.

Google, Apple or the NTA wouldn't have a scooby. Unless they started analyzing messages.

You do realise that your phone tracks everywhere you go? It knows where people live, and tracks where they go.

So what if they are. People arent supposed to be having visitors over. We’ve got to where we are by people having some modicum of respect for the temporary rules. Why should some of us continue to follow them while others head off for a piss up in their neighbour’s?

Even if kermit the frog is right, which i don't think he is based on the current icu stats and the growth of new cases being less than 2 per cent for the last 10 days, you'll find Leo won't be led by the science now, if Tony were to say the criteria is not being met to ease restrictions on May 18th. It's politically unsustainable for Leo to be led by the science.

I think they originally said they wanted most people to comply with most of the guidelines

They were never expecting 100% compliance all of the time
