Iirc back in the day lads used to call yellow reg on the year Donegal plates.
Boxy Starlet folk largely, who aspired to twin cams.

    Great cars though, really nice.
I'd happily run one today tbh.

The new 208 actually really appeals to me, there's a sort of retro Peugeot look to it.

are those 'Donegal Plates' not illegal??

I often see them going around, and think surely they get stopped all the time with them??

They should be removed, then firmly slapped across the car owners face multiple times....

I don't understand why you would actually spend money on a plate which doesn't meet requirements and is illegal. My Golf had pressed metal plates that had everything bar the hyphens between the year/ county/ number. I am not sure if that makes them illegal but I got the garage to change them to standard plastic ones.

But I mean yellow plate, no hyphens, no IRL symbol, no county at the top, you might as well get a piece of cardboard and a marker and write the reg on it and stick that to the car they are both about as legal.

Great cars, I had 2 406 DTurbos back in the day, love the look of the prefacelift 306s though.
Doesnt seem to be many for sale these days, especially with the XUD

Mcg in Kells have caliper paint kits on their Facebook page.

Cheers for that, I just ordered the caliper paint kit from them. It's Foliatec which is a decent brand by all accounts.

Oh I'd 100% love one, great little cars.
Like many things though, they were ruined by idiots.

Once you de-cat them the pigeons tend to get in and nest there.

Bonus points if they were yellow square German plates.

I swear to god, they’re raffling a jack and pair of axle stands on Facebook. €5 a go.

Seen a few decent sized sheds up for raffle but the whole raffle thing is gone pretty annoying

Unless it was limited to 4 entries, it’s hardly worth it.

Hardly need that much petrol to burn it.

Hard to know which would be the better prize the 08 407 or the jack and axle stands.

Scams the lot of them. I report everyone of them appears on my news feed.

Got the dreaded insurance renewal of €830 yesterday, a whole one euro cheaper than last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Wailin

I managed to get mine down from €903 to €550. The dearest quote online was from my current insurer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,784 ✭✭✭eljono

I renewed my insurance this week and found some competitive quotes. I'd recommend Allianz Direct, The AA and 123.ie, they gave me the three lowest quotes for the full level of cover I was after.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,547 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Got about 18 different quotes with 123 and AIG the cheapest, both just under €630

Entertaining thread here on Bimmerpost over in the states for those who are bored! OP starts thread about being scammed after transferring money to another user for a set of alloys to be delivered. Your man never posts the alloys and closes his account. Gung ho Americans go all "Don't fùck with cats", hunt him down and expose him. Scammer comes back on the thread to defend himself and it just gets more entertaining:D

The karcher bottle is useless for foam....

Get yourself the proper brass fitting type, I got mine on AliExpress. Worked out a ⅓ of the price.

Finally got the Turtle Wax Snow Foam yesterday, and as expected, the Karcher lance isn't up to much!

I did have a look on AliExpress, but it's a bit of a minefield, with billions of lances available! Could you name the one to get, or link it? Or is it a case of just picking any one of the brass ones?
(I've never used AliExpress before, is it a case where most things are the same, but just sold by different sellers (who all put their own brand on the item/box))
