Why don't check the halting sites btw?

My mother needs to go to the shops for food.
What would you like checked out in halting sites?

We have ~1 million getting paid 350 for doing nothing... surely there will be plenty of free workforce.

Why in general criminals get locked? If there is nothing bad of being locked and not be able to travel?

So you're OK to be locked in a prison cell? If living in a prison is OK for you, it is not for the rest of the people.
Actually at some aspect the prisoners are in better position, because they don't have to work to get the food on the table.

Still not a need. You are free to roam the roads within 5 km of your residence. Buy whatever food or drink you wish. Talk to whomever you wish. Watch or listen to whomever you wish when ever you wish. Think and share whatever sensible or nonsense ideas you like. Some prison! Whatever your views on the restrictions, get some perspective

Does anyone know the protocol for being stopped if you are driving to the airport? My partner is returning to Spain to be with family, assuming the flight won't be cancelled. Would it be classed as an essential journey, or will it just depend on the Gard?
    (Donegal-Dublin airport)
    Thanks in advance.

With the amount of COVID spendings we can easily organize free food delivery for everyone. Which would be MUCH better for virus protection

Go to local Garda station, explain what you need and get something from them, even a badge number and phone number of the station in writing.

The food shopping contribute much bigger to the spread of the virus than driving.
    And it CAN be avoided

You're free to talk to cell-mates! Whats the point?

If you get supplied with food (no shopping), and being locked withing 2 km of your home for 1 year, you will need the medical assistance for sure.

I think the printed flight booking should be enough

Yeah will have the booking info ready. I was just worried they'd make a fuss that I'm driving her, but she can't travel alone. I'm probably overthinking it. Cheers.

    Yep.
If a family lived in a walled/fenced compound, they would be OK 'gathering'outside, particularly if they were not going outside that compound

Do you mean 1 halting site = 1 family? Or do you mean they're not contacting each other within the site?

Nope, that's shut down, cones are thrown to the side since Sunday evening.

Coynes cross had one all weekend

You do know there is no law that states only families can be in contact?

This woman in Belgium came up with a novel way to get a McDonald's.
The police saw the funny side of it.

Been up and down to Monaghan from Dublin three times since lockdown imposed. My mum suffers with her mental health and is on her own mostly so I’ve been up to visit. We’ve kept the social distancing though by either sitting in the garden or good space apart.

Actually only met one checkpoint on main roads since and that was yesterday eve on way back to Dublin. Explained my purpose to the Garda and was waved on no bother.

Experienced my first COVID-19 checkpoint today as I haven't been out much bar the weekly supermarket trip and hadn't come across one to date.

Garda was very courteous, asked where I was headed and where I was coming from and the purpose of the journey and waved me on.

Spoke to me from the side of the road through the passenger window. I've seen some people complain about the lack of distance but this Garda was definitely 2 metres from me.

What is the protocol for separated Dad's visiting their kids does anyone know? I haven't seen my son in 8 weeks, he lives 60 miles away and normally comes to me every second weekend. If i was stopped going to visit or collect him would I have a valid excuse?

I was not aware of this! We are not legally separated (never married) and do not have a court ordered custody agreement, but I am sure I should be treated the same.

I am sure you should too, some bit of evidence to show might be handy just in case, copy of birth cert maybe or passport, just to prove you have a child :)
