By what professor Philip Nolan is saying their is no chance of easing restrictions at the moment.

Yup, they have analysed the period between 13th and 28th of March and the R0 was 1.7, so we cant relax back to those measures. In his past presentations R0 of 1.7 means 1000 cases per day within a week ( under the case definition we had for most of this time)

Remember, 29 cases in one day was enough to shut the schools.

Philip Nolan is being assiduous in his replies to journalists who aren't paying attention or understanding his role.

Why can't they just give the stats and figures they need to ease each measure? Why is it such a secret and they are so vague about it needs to "drop". Why doesn't anyone ask to what level? What exact figure

Sadly as the weeks go on the feeling we're being led by headless chickens who find decision making hard is getting more and more strong. Whatever about early failures like Cheltenham and the Italian footie fans, where it was very new and hard enough to second guess, at this stage we're well into it and we can see what nations did and are doing better than we are and those that are doing worse. It's pretty plain to see what measures the better ones took and are taking and we're either not doing them well, or we're not doing them at all.

Our borders are completely porous. And before the bollocks of "we share a border", so does every single one of the nations that are doing better. We were able to come down on foot and mouth as an island, but apparently not this?? The fcuk? We need border checks now. We need mandatory 14 day quarantine with testing now. Set them up in the empty hotels. We need a better lockdown. Just looking around friends and acquaintances I know, all usually law abiding upstanding citizens, a goodly few of them are not in lockdown. I doubt I'm alone in this. We need mandatory mask wearing in every indoor shared public space. Testing has gotten better, but must be ramped up. Very much the case also for proper contact tracing.

The nations that did all these things are doing better, much better. So bloody well copy them for fuck's sake! What part of this do the mediocre fucking amadans in authority here not get?

I think you can deduce the criteria being used and the levels necessary if you just watch the press conference, read what was said in the Dail, and read news reports.

Dr Holohan did reveal one exact stat this evening. He said (or suggested anyway) that ICU numbers would have to go below 100 before restrictions could be eased - it's currently 126 or something.

Did they say ICU numbers today were 106? That's 15 less than yesterday

Journalist spouting rubbish, Sweden has roughly x2 the number of deaths that we do and Ireland is ×3 as densely populated.

That is not true. Sweden is far more urbanised. A country's population density doesn't mean anything for COVID-19, how urbanised a country is and how densely populated its cities are matters. Far more people live in cities in Sweden than they do in Ireland.

Oh no they did not. They may have been in the past week. Where do you get this nonsense? Of course if they were elderly you don't seem to mind anyway as long as you can get out and about again.

Deaths lag cases by a couple of weeks and often more. I have family nursing patients critically ill for over four weeks.

A bunch of fucking morons out en masse in a suburb somewhere having an outdoor party, with a garda van passing by at one stage. It's in the daytime by the looks of it so chances are high the adults are getting their 300 odd quid a week to stay home. If this is recent and under lockdown the Gardai need to baton charge these mouthbreathing morons and those like them.

What makes this country pleasant to live in normally(for the most part) is the Be grand attitude, but when the poo hits the propeller it shows us as a nation to be amateur hour children in too many bloody ways.

The public don't want to ease the restrictions. Of course they don't.

They are getting paid to stay at home. The weather has been great. Food and drink is in plentiful supply. They are not too tired to enjoy the simple things in life.

Will Varadkar call their bluff? No. The truth is we haven't even seen a wave and a large majority have broken various restrictions. Who are they planning on testing? Community spread is virtually zero.

The 'lockdown' becomes more ridiculous with every passing day. What are they going to do if we get a wave during flu season? The government can't sustain this support and these health officials are too busy clearing up their mess in the nursing homes.

David Quinn, IE Iona Institute David Quinn. Suggesting that Swedish model is better despite double the number of deaths per capita compared to its neighbours.

So much for being a pro life campaigner

The last time I looked they have thousands of confirmed infected outside of nursing homes and healthcare workers. How are they getting infected, by magic?

Part of the reason, is because we have so many people in this country literally falling over themselves to praise our leadership for the rubbish job they're doing... these shameless cheerleaders are very much of the same ilk as our leaders, which is why they view mediocrity as being something greater than it is!

Until more of our people demand higher standards from our leadership... we'll continue to lag way behind many other nations! And unfortunately people will lose their life as a consequence of these incompetencies and inefficiencies!

Very little detail about where the minimal community spread is.

Three flights from London tonight and another from NY in the morning---all virus hotspots. Meanwhile, we have Holohan bewildered as to the extent of our community transmission in the face of weeks of lockdown. And yet again the public pay the price for this shambles
