Are the majority of new cases now in care homes? and amongst health workers? If so would it not be better to concentrate lockdown/isolation on those 2 groups (I know very hard for healthcare workers), but we are almost 5 weeks into countrywide lockdown now and we are seeing little to no progress in stopping the spread of the virus!! This tells me that for all the efforts we are making, they are having no effect, so perhaps teh spread is not out in teh general population (who are by and large following the restrictions).

Social Distancing is obviously here to stay, so what's teh benefit in extending the current restrictions on movement for another 2 weeks?

Are you seriously saying there has been no slowing of the virus? You must be looking at different figures to me. Big deal if it has taken five weeks of restrictions to save lives and enable our health service workers cope. Your priorities are all over the place. You don't know what a real lockdown would have been like. If it takes only a slight relaxation for a few more weeks, or even no change, so be it if we can continue to manage the spread.

Less drama FFS. You shouldbt be anywhere near your nana or her mates. Why are you?

Cocoon the elderly. Isolate the vunerable. Let everyone else back to work.

So are you implying the rest of us go back to normal and lock a generation away indefinitely? That’s pretty dramatic in my opinion.

If we do that how do the elderly safely get their groceries without risking catching this? That’s just one example, Can you suggest how they would do that indefinitely without being at risk if the rest of us are back to normal?

Will we not eventually all get it and 98% will be fine after it and won’t get it again?

No. 98% (not sure where you got this figure?) would only be okay if we can treat the severe cases. If the hospital system gets overwhelmed then the mortality rate rises dramatically. Nevermind the secondary deaths from no treatment for heart attack/stroke/car crashes etc

Also we don't have proof of full immunity after getting it either.

You know that wont happen for now, 2 deaths between 15 to 24 its not just old people.

If Germany are looking at going back into lockdown as numbers start to rise again I don’t think we have any chance of restrictions lifted in the near future. It’s going to be no surprise to anyone the restrictions being lifted. Scary I miss normality

Did they say if the 2 15-24 deaths had underlying issues?

Well, not really because you're not very LIKELY to have those things happen you, and you can live with a high quality of life for a long time after them.

You’re not very likely to die of covid either. Very unlikely in fact. What’s the difference?

Amd the vasy majority of people will live a great and long life after over coming covid. And its not likely to contract it either.

Not likely to contract it? You are very likely to contract it over the course of a few months in an unmitigated open spread (which is what the quoted post was referencing)

Just throwing this out there. Does anyone else think that eventually we’ll have to get back to normality and accept that on any one day I might:
    Have a heart attack
    Have a stroke
    Be diagnosed with liver/lung/brain cancer
Be diagnosed with motor neurone disease
Get knocked down by a car
    Lose my eyesight
    Contract Coronavirus

Definitely , heard a good quote the other day
'Why do people fear terrorism and SARS so much more than automobile accidents and cardiovascular disease? Because terrorism and SARS seem new and unknown, and therefore uncertain. Humans can accept significant danger and loss of numerous lives, provided these happen in a manner in which they are accustomed. But when unexpected dangers emerge, they fear these more than is truly justified.'

While we as a nation and our government have made mistakes... I think leo with his knowledge compare to his counterparts has dealt with this a lot better that I would of predicted. I'm actually glad we have him compare to what the US are dealing with. Folks that are sticking to the rules all need to pat themselves on the back

    Well done

It does seem to me that we are at the point where we could slightly relax restrictions. Maybe go back to where we were after the initial restrictions I.e. pubs closed, social distancing etc. I think our figures are manageable. Our ICU figures and hospitalizations are low.

My point is that everyone has to die, of something eventually. As 98% of people who get covid DONT die of it then I’m starting to wonder why we don’t just get back to normal.

Why be an arse. No one is hovering over buttons. Some people get the numbers here. Some people deal with the rotten situation by wishing that the dead rest in peace. It expresses the feelings of others too . Just glide over such posts if you don't like it.
