Businesses need to know this week what's happening

Informing them on Monday night about Tuesday morning would be rediculous

Id say youll see it extended by few days (though upto 2 weeks is possible still imo)

Informing general public anytime before monday and the beaches etc will be packed

A decent set of clips to start the claire byrne show, showing clips of the CMO on the late late show saying he was optimistic and saying we were going in the right direction and now his press conferences from this week.

Any wonder why people are getting slightly annoyed regarding mixed messages ?

Oh and for anyone interested Claire Byrne is taking an antibody test in a while

So a few here might remember me ranting about the pub I work for and their total neglect for the measures people were asked to follow before the bars were forced to close. Well now they are opening for collection of pints :/ guess barwork is an essential service.

    Noggin Inn?

It looks like it will be a wet weekend so the beaches are hardly gonna be packed

They are not going to announced eased restrictions before Monday. It would be sheer madness to do so on a long weekend. Not too many businesses will be reopening immediately any way.

Not our fault you've got thousands dead - idiots

The World Health organization declared their highest level of alarm on January 30th when there were only 82 cases and no deaths registered outside China and eight known cases of human-to-human transmission of the disease in China.

That is a 'Public Health Emergency of International Concern'. The word 'pandemic' does not feature in their alarm levels.

I am not sure what the hell more you expect from them !

Method of distributing total reported probable deaths over period from 11th March
    1. Cumulated daily deaths (netted of removed deaths on day reported removed).
    2. Totalled probable deaths, derived a weight of 0.233, applied to net daily deaths to arrive at a daily probable death figure and cumulated.
    3. Combined 1 and 2 for each day and plotted against day elapsed.

Have you forgotten when this was patently obvious to every country and their dog it was a pandemic the WHO decided their own criteria for declaring a pandemic was wrong and so could not declare a pandemic
Total cop out by them and now passing the buck to all the countries

He’s not come out of the initial covid response well at all, he’s been piss poor. He’s been criticized from all corners, rightly so. Now he’s putting the responsibility back on the states. The shi*tiest leadership tactic, we’ve all seen this in workplaces,, manager fûcks up then blames the staff.

The clue is 2K to 5k. How would that be any different?

Or she's not actually immune? This is what the WHO were warning about a few days ago

Or the tests dont work accurately.
It's also false to say the antibody tests dont work just because Claire tested negative, there are examples of infected developing few to no antibodies, though this only occurs in about 6% of cases.

First time really looking at New Zealand stats in ages. Dont want to get into a comparsion debate but what stood out for me was considering it being an island in middle of nowhere was its 39% imported re travel figure. Was this mainly repatriations or just people away and coming back?
And I wonder did the emergency of the recent devasting earthquakes, help prepare them practically and pyschologically somewhat for covid?
Anyhow, well done New Zealand keep up the good work.

If she's not immune despite being previously COVID+ then that is a possible inherent problem with antibody tests.
There's a few case reports of people who developed only mild infection who didn't mount enough of an immune response to confer sustained immunity, which is why the question of immunity post-infection is still up in the air.

Trump said '' i had a great phone call with '' someone, i dunno who, ,,,, and then said '' i'm sure you know, some of you were on the line , even, though you weren't suppose to be''

Threw in that remark to the reporters.

It also leaves the rational for the unethical and dangerous 'Herd Immunity' strategy in ruins.

When there is a credible test or vaccine we will hear about it from our CMO.

    Otherwise stop swallowing everything.

    Claire Byrne should know better.

Have to disagree with you there...The efficacy of masks is wholly dependent on be using correctly...The mask should only be touched putting them on and taking them off...People think masks are as good as Hazmat suits with regards to providing protection...Which inevitability isn't the case from what i continue to see...its anecdotal i know, but anyone i see out in public wearing a mask is literally doing all the things one needs to avoid in order for the mask to do its job

anecdotes and taught experiments are all well ang good, in the absence of evidence, but should not replace evidence.

That would be very worrying. In that scenario, you couldn't be sure who was immune or not and it would make a nonsense of the 'herd immunity' idea.
