who exactly is being put into citywest.(190 so far) is it a step down facility or a potential isolation place to monitor to see if you need hospital care?
Have you to test positive before being placed there as no way are people isolated enough from each other inside it, from the original photos when it was set up.
Imagine being put there before a positive result only to find out you had the ordinary influenza or some other respiratory issue and now may have been exposed to covid.

    It's a step-down facility.

Are we getting all information?how come we are told that the virilus has been suppressed in the community with a figure like 700 of new cases.unless the vast majority of these cases(still looking for % in nursing homes?) are nursing home. Doesnt look suppressed! And the case definition hasnt changed yet to my understanding.

RTE now showing crowds of people on the streets doing dance routines. They are promoting this as a great thing. Supposedly exercising social distancing. It looks like RTE are totally taking the piss at this stage.

And for all those people saying we were too slow to respond in this country, this is evidence NPHET had a Covid meeting in January.

That's a strong statement. Can you provide evidence of outdoor transmission being a primary cause of transmission of this virus? Because the recent Chinese review I read of over 7,000 cases could only find evidence of 2 being from the outdoors, with every other case caused by indoor transmission.

Seen that, in that housing estate all seem pretty close, more like a big street party.

Step down care and for people whose living arrangements mean they can’t isolate themselves

If they just infect and kill each other, great, unfortunately it wouldn’t work like that some stupid cûnt under the selfish banner of preserving their ‘mental health’ (and they are most certainly are that) will end up tripping over their brain, getting carted off to hospital and infecting key healthcare workers, at which point their fans, friends and families back at stupid ground zero will have a charity conga line.... all about the ‘mental’ health...

Lock down is a joke, and those fined for breaching it are just picked on because of other reasons, no tax, no insurance, no nct, killed 20 people, oh and broke the lockdown rule, fine issued.
    BS

No one is fined that are driving around miles from home, going to parties, beaches, walks in the country, roads are busy, and have been the last week. and I'VE seen no check point since this started.

Big flaw though no one representing the high risk nursing home or community care home sector or patient adovcate.

Mental health is important, and they are very unlikely to spread a virus just by standing around outside.

I'm guessing the hundreds of positives are down to majorly ramped up testing in the nursing homes. But it doesn't sound like there are many hundreds of seriously ill people being discovered every day......it may well be that these new ones have mostly mild symptoms (with obvious exceptions of course).

Would like to see data on this too if available. For the moment, I view it as low risk walking about outside once maintaining a reasonable distance most of the time. Have we actually seen evidence for mass transmission of the virus in open air (and not talking about packed carnivals and other mass gatherings where you are crowded up against each other)?

As far as i know the hotel rooms are for those who need isolating
The step down care is in the conference centre and it is to ease the pressure if wards in hospitals are full . They would then send patients who don’t need critical care but still need support to Citywest
This is the step down unit and as far as I know its not yet needed as their are beds in general hospitals

They can't have every sector attending their meetings, there is about 20 people there doing their best to consider all the risks. There are hundreds of areas which needed consideration.

I'm sure with hindsight they would have put more effort into this sector, but every country was focused on preventing hospital overload and didn't realise how quickly it would spread through nursing homes.

They absolutely should have seen it coming . It was obvious as it happened in Italy and in Spain . They had warnings and took their eye off the ball

They are breaking the restrictions though and RTE are promoting breaking restrictions pretty much on a constant basis now.

If there really is little risk then some of the restrictions should be lifted. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to walk on an isolated beach if others are essentially allowed to have a dance party together on a street.

It is, but when a virus as widespread as covid displays such a disregard for our physical health to the point of having the potential to kill tens of thousands of us at a minimum, mental heath is secondary. Unlikely is not impossible. People need to buck the fûck up, adhere to restrictions and put their country and the wellbeing of all of its citizens to the fore of this crisis. The attention seeking twats can put their brains into gear and get real.

Well Captain Hindsight, their meetings in January were unlikely to be aware of what happened in Italy and Spain in March.

When they became aware of it in this country, they quickly pivoted testing once resources were available.
