No :pac: More a case of as it turns out owning a Golf GTI doesn't impress or interest a bank when you are going for a mortgage. I know its hard to believe apparently they care about something called savings and how much of them you have :pac:

    :D

    I thought you had F1's ?

I put diesel in the car for the first time last Saturday in about 5 weeks, and I spotted it was 1.09 on the Quays this morning when I was heading into work, I was raging as it was 1.18 where I filled it up.

A month is 8% ish..... If lock down is 2 months then would folk expect 16% discount when still occasionally driving & their car still insured for fire, theft & vandalism etc depending on policy type?

My mileage is down 66% but I'm not loaded much if anything for reckoning I'll do 35k kms/annum.

A slightly cheaper policy next year would be fine IMO.

Drove by a Toyota garage this morning and went in for a peak to kill a few minutes (naughty naughty I suppose).

These are about €44k new now including VAT for 2 seat commercials.... Tremendous residuals

    A 2017 Asking €35k after €2k scrappage applied.

There’s residuals and there’s artificially inflated asking prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,633 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

Who the funk would pay that???? Crazy prices....

Not especially, but they do get a hard life a lot of the time so it’s hard to say.

Just came across a 07 passenger landcruiser on facebook for 9750 makes the dealer one look like robbery.

I sold Toyotas in a former life and what I would say from experience is that a main dealer can often spend huge money on prepping an older one of those for retail. You could spend a few grand without trying.

Unless it’s a crewcab, it’s not that desirable.

True I suppose passenger landys rare the germans have that market.

Wheels and rear wheel cover are in bits, something up with the back bumper on the passenger driver side. Not up to the cosmetic standard it should be for the money IMO, but I’d say it’s on the button mechanically if they’re retailing it.

Just got another ad on fb for an 01 for 3950!

What’s the purpose of the ‘idle up’ button on the 02 and 07 model ? Assuming it increase engine speed at idle but why would you need that ?

    Yeah it's less then pristine.
It was that one I went it to look at, was thinking it couldn't be for sale TBH.

When stationary but when there's a load (electrical) on engine. Loads of lights, winch etc etc I think anyway.

The idle up on those only works when the engine is cold, so it's mainly to keep the heater working well in really cold conditions where the engine is idling, and to heat up the engine quicker.

Original model Avensis TD had this too, but it was activated by turning the fan speed to 1.

A friendly of mine very quickly got 12k for a 07 LWB with low KMs.

I was trying to trade in a 131 Cruiser LWB new model with the last of the 3.0 engine and I was offered a blank cheque to get it by one of the traders.

There’s just nothing like them to sell

I've heard of them engines going bang on quite a few land cruiser....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,694 ✭✭✭✭L-M

Probably the one where the oil wasn’t changed in 300,000kms because “Its a Toyota”

I've heard of them engines going bang on quite a few land cruiser....

The 3.0d4d engine will sludge if it's not half maintained. There's a gauze on the pickup that gets clogged and will eventually starve the engine of oil. If the injector seals are dodgey this process is accelerated by carbon buildup.

They're solid machines but need looking after. Change the oil regularly and drop the sump every so often (3rd or 4th service should do) and they'll last well.

The mid to late 90's is the 4x4 workhorse golden era.
    3.0td Landcruiser
    2.4td Hilux
    3.1 Trooper
    2.8td Fourtrak
    2.5td Pajero

    Rust is the killer though

    400k km 2008 that's well used looking, asking 9k.....
    https://m.carzone.ie/used-cars/Toyota/Landcruiser-LAND-CRUISER-RC-LC--LWB-GX-AUTO/202002197486747

Same dealer has a 201 reg with 100kms on it for roughly the rrp €45k...
    https://m.carzone.ie/used-cars/Toyota/Landcruiser-LC-LWB-GX-5DR---PRICE-INCLUDES-VAT--FINANCE-ARRANG/202004178978673

There doesn't seem to be a cheap one advertised.... I reckon the residuals are indeed tremendous, accepting there might be a bit of haggle room.

A couple of hundred quid could transform that 08. Looks a pig in the pictures I’d say it’s 10 time’s worse in person.

New v8 diesel lump for the Touareg:

Interesting decision by VW to invest in a new v8 diesel engine given the populous opinion seems to be that diesel's days are numbered.

And considering their efforts in electric car production. It proves that one size doesn’t fit all.
