Can someone explain to me why cases are still rising everyday ? Wasn’t the whole point of early lockdowns and school closures to stop cases rising

If cases are rising daily now during the lockdown ain’t it gonna be ridiculously high once the stricter lockdown ends come may5th

Much more testing - detected cases are going up , real cases going down

    It's a great comparison

I know what it is, that's why she jumped on me saying aids, it was lazy

    Treating aids is a miracle

Something we just can't create a vaccine for which for a while we thought was untreatable

And it's essentially been knocked on the head

Well you’re right in the sense that it’s a great comparison in the context of... HIV is an insanely complex and unique virus which was thought to be impossible to treat and yet we’ve done so to such an effective extent! Let’s hope that a somewhat simpler coronavirus can be treated too! :)

I mistakenly was curious to know what the readership of the Dailymail think of the Covid-crisis. They think that the applauding for the NHS is tedious, and undeserved. Next article down was about some consultant who died of Covid. I loath that paper. I don’t know why I inflict myself with reading it’s articles

Daily Mail readers are so right wing that they probably think Ebenezer Scrooge sold out at the end of A Christmas Carol.

Bit of change in Trump's tune

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2020/apr/23/coronavirus-us-live-house-484bn-crisis-aid-package-trump-cuomo-latest-news-updates?page=with:block-5ea219c88f082ab274335bc3#block-5ea219c88f082ab274335bc3
Will federal distancing guidelines be extended until summer?

“We may, we may go beyond that - we’ll have to see where it is. Until we feel it’s safe, we’re going to be extending,” Trump said.

The president’s message today is much different than what he’s said earlier this week.

Only just caught up on the Trump briefing but christ almighty - to paraphrase can we subject humans to high heat and UV and inject them with bleach to kill the virus - well yeah but it would kill them.

Yes, cases will be high. But its just something we will have to learn to live with and minimise as much as possible

Increasingly starting to believe that this flattening the curve period was purely to buy enough time to dramatically expand the capabilities of the health service.. in preperation for subsequent waves.

That is the point I thought?

    Thread: CoVid19 Part XII
    04-04-2020, 15:57 ThePopehimself #9018

Update: Well Mother in Law’s Nursing Home is now officially a Cluster*uck.

This is beyond hand-wringing. I remember NHI being admonished for acting Unilaterally on March 6th.

The Nursing Home would not say how many – because that’s confidential. CONFIDENTIAL?! Are you kidding me?!

After everything it’s a fkng secret?! Are we still doing that?!

This is the Frontline. It’s a bloody disaster and not one mask between any of the staff.
Finally, theCovid-19 support scheme has been announced. Well it’s a bit late!

Remind me again Expert Teams…what is the most vulnerable age Group? The elderly? And where would find them then? Oh! The Nursing Homes!

Forgive me Boards, I’m so frustrated. The last time I saw her was through a closed window. She was sleeping.

Had Nursing Homes Ireland NOT acted when they did, we would now be looking at complete decimation!!!

Update: on #9018 From Covid-19 Part Xll:

Six have now died of Covid-19 in the Nursing Home…(that figure is supposed to be confidential. Quote 'it is supposed to be a secret.')

My mother in law was tested 9 days ago. We still have no results.

Is anybody with someone in a Nursing home experiencing the same delay in results?

You said we made great progress with AIDS, I was simply pointing out that it took years and years of research until we reached a point where HIV was no longer a death sentence and people who are infected can get to the point where the virus is undetectable.

The epidemic might have begun in the 1980s but HIV has been infecting humans since at least the 1960s.

There are different strains of HIV and worryingly some have become resistant to the standard antiviral treatments.

Jesus, sounds like he's been having a bit too much of the aul UV light himself. Imagine having to tolerate this ignoramus.

It's cringe worthy every time he speaks.

His double speak is too damaging to follow. Nothing is consistent.

...'It's impossible to hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of ****.'

Looking at Birx and knowing she is quite clever you have to feel sorry for her being in the prescence of this total idiot

Like the other fella going on about UV etc - didn't look pleased with Trump trying to overpower him

Jesus he did, he actually said it.

    He really did say that.

Words, I need words to describe that........

He’s fûcking nuts, what a time to be alive. Hilary wouldn’t be all that likable but I have taken her in a heartbeat over this knucklehead I don’t think he’s playing with a full deck.

I was reading up about the asteroid1998 that's coming next week and decided to pop in here before sleep to see this sh1t from trump. I think I'm going to die laughing.

It wouldn’t be so bad if on the other side of the pond there was an intelligent, well adjusted individual in charge who could call up and go... “you know what Don, it’s great you are reaching out and pandering to your demographic and what not but you are fûcking up here, let’s talk, get on the same page”.

God almighty can’t you people see...He does it on purpose. Say some crazy ****e and watch it get wall to wall coverage for an entire news cycle. It drowns out his opponents such as dementia Joe. It’s an old New York advertising trick, no such thing as bad publicity.

Everyone knows that and he has been called out about it from certain news channels

Seeing today that Covid-19 is apparently causing strokes for some people around 40+ who have it mild. My friend just had an unexpected stroke last week and he is 43.

I know "experts" have said this is not engineered but if you believe all these reports around the world of weird phenomenon associated with this virus you could be forgiven for thinking well no other virus is like this...

Causing blood clots, had a few in here with reports of people they know with clots to lungs, no reason why it can' travel to brain. I will say this virus is a beaut.
Approx 50% asymptomatic or very few symptoms so it spreads more because people don't know they have it and are shedding. Those that do get symptoms get different degrees of illness and what we are learning is it's just as insidious by damaging internal organs, eg spleen, kidneys, heart muscle, etc, in healthy people. They even think in severe cases, the virus may enter the brain through the nasal cavity and damage neurons that control breathing. In rare cases swelling in some parts of the brain and kills brain cells in others.

I believe this to an extent, and yet I also believe it gives him way too much credit. He is way to egocentric to knowingly say stupid things.

The more some people ignore the temporary restrictions, the longer we'll be here. It's that simple. People need to realise that.
