Harvey Norman are selling this for €119 .They also do price match though so would be worth telling them it’s €99 on nepresso to get them to match

Not much point though, you will still have to wait for the coffee to put in it. :D

Can still be ordered online for delivery and was just giving alternative that people might receive quicker & can also ask if pods are included with their ones

I know you are just giving an alternative but I am just saying,

Either way, you have to order online and wait for your purchase, but with Harvey Norman or anyone else you have to wait twice.

    Harvey Norman method,
You have to go online, persuade them to price drop from 119 to 99
then you have to pay them 4.99 delivery on top.
Then you have to wait for it to arrive, open the box , get the serial number, then send it to Nespresso and wait for the online capsules to arrive.

    or Nespresso method.

    you just click order.

I ordered and got this last week. The main upside for me was that I was putting 2 old capsules into my mug and now, even with the smallest Vertuo capsule I just use one. So for me this will work out way cheaper in the long run even buying the most expensive Vertuo capsules.

If you only use Nespresso then a subscription is a no brainer.

Ordered last week directly from Nespresso and arrived this morning. I ordered more coffee on top of the free stuff. Packaging is Nespresso branded. The size of the pacakging surprised me but 250 capsules takes up a lot of sapce and i ordered two mugs as well.

Considering the "Nespresso" branding is all over the packaging I wonder does that make the Couriers more or less likely to lose it, fail to deliver it, ring you asking you to collect it yourself.....or just plain bounce it catastrophically off every bit of tarmac or concrete between the Depot and your house?

All very easy and worthwhile to do when the Courier isn't actually responsible or accountable ever.....

I'm undecided on this here.... So basically its good value but you're tied to these barcoded capsules for years to come. But a lot of the Supermarket knock-off ones are muck that are cheaper but not worth it anyhow?

Are the capsules reasonable value off their Site (or where best to buy) and is it ok to tie myself into this?!

    Thanks for the help.

Thats a decent deal, I have the Vertuo at home and I love it. It does take a little while to find your favorite Coffee pods but when you do its handy to keep getting the same ones. I do like some of the special offer blends they bring out from time to time.

Yes the Vertuo pods are expensive but I was using 2 of the old ones per cup prior to this machine.

BTW, Their travel mugs are fantastic. I have the large one and I fill it before my regular commute from Clonmel to Dublin. The coffee stays hot for ages, in fact its still hot enough to drink when I get to work!! ( Usually doesn't last that long :) )

Ive heard the subscription service is good value for coffee lovers.

What’s the recommendations for best pods for the Vertuo? I picked one up a while ago, haven’t bought capsules in bulk yet.
Liked Roma and Arpeggio from original smaller range.

Tbh I initially was tempted by it to get away from my current Tassimo, and then decided against it. Looked bean to cup and other options and then pulled the trigger on the Nespresso in the end. Pods are good and ill be buying online in bulk so I don't mind paying a slight bit more for a better coffee.

I like a stronger coffee in a mug size so I tend to stick to Inteso and Stormio. There is also a caramel one too which I like.

Same as Darragh, Stormio is my favourite so far. Some of the expresso ones are nice too. I've ordered a box of caramel to see what it's like. I wasn't a fan of the Hazelnut one but we'll see.

Hi Folks, I'm just back from parcel motel. It looks like I got machine, capsules and mug all together. Happy days

On some non-Nespresso machines the water doesn't get hot enough from the device thus adding hot water from the kettle. What is the Nespresso machine like in this regard?

I found vertuo a lot hotter than the original line, but the one thing that has made a difference is just preheating the cup for a minute or two (if you have the chance).

RE: nice pods, I like the Columbia and Melozio for a nice smooth Mug Size Coffee.

For double espresso milk based drinks, the Bianco Legero is my favourite for sure.

My "free" travel mug arrived today and it feels very solid and well built. I like it. It keeps my coffee a hotter for longer so I think I'll be using it now as my Go-To working at home cup :)

Had you ordered 50 more, you would have got the mug, I presume.

Still waiting for mine, then will be searching for capsules resembling
Arpeggio and Kazaar from the original machines.

Just checked the boxes. Its the machine, box with about 100 capsules and another with bags and introductory box of capsules so presume the mug will come after next order

Yes, next order of 100 capsules. I got 150 capsules for 97 euro or thereabouts.

I said I'd take a punt on one for €99. I get a coffee out most days during normal times. 100 of those would cost me €330.

Can't say I'm much of a coffee expert but do like my mochas and Cappuccinos when out. Is there any particular machine I should be looking at for these ?

Lowest Amazon price is 80GBP. Daycent deal.

EXCEPT. Big but here. Vertuo exists because of compatible pods. You can buy any pod you want for the old system, you can ONLY buy from Nespresso for the Vertuo system until 2031. Getting the older units on the cheap is a big saving long term, thats why theyre willing to loss leader it.
Are you aware if they are going to phase out the original capsules at some point?

Anyone buying the Virtuo system has money to burn in my opinion.

I samples the coffee in Liffey Valley it's basically the old pods doubled in size and patented to stop competition and charging what they want.

See, I looked at the original machine but really like a big cup of coffee. With the old machine, this would mean two pods which would probably work out same price. I like the idea of some alternate pods though.

A vertuo mug pod costs about 60 to 70 cent a cup. It’s definitely not cheap but if you were to buy a decent non supermarket coffee and brew it with an Aeropress or v60 or French press you would end up paying nearly that much per cup (say €8 250g bag @ 20g per cup is 12.5 cups per bag = 64 cent per cup) combined with more prep and cleaning needed with the manual methods. I’m a bit of a nerd and have a moka pot, Aeropress and a V60 on the way but my vertuo machine gets as much use as the others and gives a good cup of coffee with no fuss.

I also got a Geesta kit on Amazon which allows you to take the foil off of used vertuo pods and then add your own coffee and put a new lid on the pods to make them reusable. Works quite well.

Overall I’m happy with the Vertuo.

Just as well we all have a choice on what machines and pods to buy.

Doesnt matter, third party sellers will keep the system going until the install base dies off.

    It matters for me :)
I am not using any 3rd party capsules.
    1. My machine finds it harder to extract the coffee from them
    2. I haven't try any, and I tried a lot, that I like more than certain N varieties
