Lowest Amazon price is 80GBP. Daycent deal.

EXCEPT. Big but here. Vertuo exists because of compatible pods. You can buy any pod you want for the old system, you can ONLY buy from Nespresso for the Vertuo system until 2031. Getting the older units on the cheap is a big saving long term, thats why theyre willing to loss leader it.

You've just helped me dodge a bullet there, was switching from an old Tassimo and was just about to pull the trigger to get away from expensive pods

Very much the same here, thanks for the heads up!

Just keep in mind too that you don't get a choice of the 100 capsules.. our Vertuo went kaput right at start of lockdown and they told me 5 week turnaround to be repaired.. just as we started weeks of being stuck at home! Had a particular blend we liked - Melozio - and they wouldn't allow me get 100 of them so would have ended up with 90 capsules we didn't really want. Ended up getting a new one from Amazon for far cheaper than Nespresso at the time... and after all that they had ours back repaired in about 10 days; it's still sitting waiting to be used as we had new one from Amazon (On Prime delivery) in and working.

The Amazon deal doesn't come with the 100 capsules or the travel mug though does it?

Anyway, I get you re the cheaper pods but we tend to use the Nespresso branded ones anyway. Plan on keeping the older smaller machine anyway and have this for larger cups.

Yeah I realised this after buying the Vertuo one! Thought I was great buying the newer model.

Still not too bad value per pod but obviously the third party ones are quite a bit cheaper.

You did, the Vertuo is the new model.

Wouldn't worry about the third party capsules either, because I have the older one for years and have yet to find a non Nespresso capsule that was half decent.

Lor Nespresso pods are the best non branded ones imo.

Probably, but still don't like them.

To be honest, I don't get this compatible capsules lark at all.

The whole concept of Nespresso is an attempt to make "half decent" coffee from a convenient capsule. Nespresso seems to have that market done and dusted.
Capsules at their best are a compromise to start with, getting crap ones defeat the whole purpose.
The best of the compatible capsules are not all that cheap either.
IMHO if you are not going to put Nespresso capsules in a Nespresso machine, you are probable better off looking at a different coffee making plan.

Comes with 100 capsules worth €65 and a travel mug that is about €20 so makes the machine €14 and that's delivered.

Looks like the free travel mug is gone :(

Probably a misunderstanding, the free travel mug comes with your next order. So when you buy more capsules.

I buy the Starbucks ones - currently on special 3 packs for €10 - great assortment of tastes / strengths / single origin - I did like the Waterford Coffee House Lane ones but they are sadly no longer being made.

think its the aluminum that makes pod. which the lor one is. find the plastic crap.

or people dont live close to a nespresso store and cant be bothered bulk buying from them online.

+1 for L'or capsules for me. Some of the Nespresso ones are actually muck. I buy in bulk direct from Nespresso but supplement with L'or if needed

I actually tried them and thought they were awful! I didn't even finish the box. Maybe it was the type that I bought?

No I found the same, thought the starbucks were rotten too.
The proof of the pudding, I found is no matter how many varieties of compatible ones are in the cupboard, nobody ever uses any of them unless we run out of the Nespresso ones.

I even tried telling the wife (I lied) how "lovely" the Starbucks" capsules were, but she was having none of it. :D

Gave up, brought the Nespresso to work (only Nespresso capsules) and bought a beans to cup machine at home, all happy.

Our office went from Nespresso Pro (Different capsule to regular/vertuo) to B2C. While the new machine is a nice unit I do miss the variety of capsules. Sometimes you just feel like a double caramel espresso.

so they returned it to you in 10 days instead of 5 weeks and youre annoyed?!

IMO the taste is far better than the old one, can make lots of different sizes of coffees. you can choose whichever pods you want so not sure why you bought 90 pods you didnt want :p:D

Mine broke, and my parents broke too but both were replaced in a week, it sucks during lockdown you cant get your precious coffee for a couple of days but im still very happy, at 100E with 100 pods the machine is practically free.

agreed, if you want to buy cheap pods then might as well buy a jar of maxwell house.

the aluminium feels and must make the difference.

I had the starbucks pods in the old machine which is about 15-20 years old and they are my favourite yet.

As a complete coffee novice and someone who knows nothing about coffee machines, is this a good buy?

Tempted to get one for myself, and also one for a present.

If going for the present option, can anyone who's ordered one please tell me if the outer box the order is sent in is plain or does it have any Nespresso branding on the front or the label?

Would like to surprise someone with one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,681 ✭✭✭Zimmerframe

Amazon stuff always comes in a brown box.
Yes it's a good buy if you want the convenience of capsule coffee and are prepared to pay the Nespresso premium for the coffee capsules.

If you wanted to be stingy/devious, you could register both machines, keep both sets of capsules, wait for the capsule offer to expire then give one as a present. :D

Haha that's a little too devious, even for me.

So hang on, the 100 capsules and travel mug don't actually arrive with the machine? They come after when you register it?

Hmm, see I was actually thinking of ordering it for someone in the UK and getting it sent straight to their house as it would save me paying for postage myself, and I was sneakily going to tell them it was for me, something I couldn't get sent to Ireland, and leave it at theirs for a few weeks until their Birthday and then get them to open it.

However the surprise will be ruined if it says Nespresso on the front, and it will be a bit of a faff if it doesn't come with the capsules and travel mug straight away and they have to register to get them at a later date themselves, as their Birthday is quite a bit away, and don't want them opening it til then.

So back to the drawing board it is!

    Correct.

You fill up the Nespresso claim form, with the serial number of the machine, to get the free capsules, then with your next order of capsules you get the mug.

Came here form the main page. By chance, I ordered this recently. The Machine comes with the 100 free capsules and in a large Nespresso bag (Maybe 3 feet high, 1 depth, and 2 wide..). The mug comes with the second order of 100 capsules not the first. I just made my second order and it cost about €97 for 150 capsules. The capsules have a little barcode around the side so the machine reads them to tell if it is an expresso, mug or cup without you having to change where the cup is.

I think it's a great buy and I drink a lot of coffee. I completely understand that I am buying Nespresso machine and I will have to buy the capsules directly from Nespresso. I don't have a problem with that. Any questions let me know.

Ordered last week directly from Nespresso and arrived this morning. I ordered more coffee on top of the free stuff. Packaging is Nespresso branded. The size of the pacakging surprised me but 250 capsules takes up a lot of sapce and i ordered two mugs as well.

Yes if you order from Nespresso direct, you will get the capsules with it, but if you want to get it in a unmarked brown box, delivered to the UK, it will have to be from Amazon.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nespresso-11398-Special-Magimix-Capsule/dp/B07T5FRRRN/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?ie=UTF8&aaxitk=KIpj1iXvG0db4VFs8UFRWA&hsa_cr_id=5424783460502&ref_=sb_s_sparkle

It won't come with the capsules, you will have to register first.

    https://nespressoukpromotions.com/Trade/Address?country=Roi

then the capsules will be posted to you directly from Nespresso, as will the mug on your next order.
