Bar there are a lot of claims made once this is all over, I think we can expect lower insurance premiums next year given the fact that people are staying home. It will be a hot topic in my opinion and will be under scrutiny. If there is no reduction it will say a lot!

Every month of WFH and the 2km thing should see maybe a 5% drop in premium next year. 3 months of it 15% maybe.
We are a month in now I suppose. Hopefully with non essential businesses reopening more folk can get back in the car soon.

Since when are insurance companies known for not being rip off merchants? Premiums will either remain as they are, or likely increase.
This is the first year in a while my insurance has actually went down.

Getting a refund from my health insurer due to the reduction in costs given the private hospitals are being rented to the government, I'll be making sure to follow up with my motor insurer to see what they are doing.

Health insurance refund is as much due to the fact they can't offer the services that you are covered for.

If your car is still insured and you use it to go to the shops or whatever unless you are on a loading for high mileage I imagine they won't be doing too much for you.

So half thinking of doing something with the car, more so for something to do. Some owners of xdrives drop in eibachs and gives the car less of an off-road look.

Whilst thinking about it, I figured there might be an app for this, and sure enough there was. Take a photo, and then it lets you mess around with ride height. Apps called suspension master.

The car won’t be as low as you think with Eibach/ACS springs fitted. The second picture is about right but not as low on the rear.
It’s not so much about how low the springs make the car rather the massively improved ride and handling balance.

Yeah it's very subtle in reality. Did you put spacers too on the 4?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,445 ✭✭✭Wailin

Is the ride improvement really noticeable? I have a set of eibach springs in the shed for my 535d which I've never gotten round to fitting.

Seen a 2020 Opel Corsa the other day and completely forgot about it. Seen another one this morning, forgot about it again, then I seen an ad for one and I have to say they are actually a really good looking small car.

You'd almost feel bad for Opel, they are really really trying.

Peugeot did a great job on it:

Even the basic one looks great

Not a big Peugeot fan but really liked the last model 308 GTI. They are 1.6 270bhp reviews on them seemed quite good. Just liked the idea of them being a bit of a sleeper and quite rare here in Ireland.

They need to offer that engine in more models.

Brent crude oil is the important one to watch regarding fuel, it's around $20 a barrel at the moment.

Has to be a futures contract or something, it can't be the actual price.

I'd like to go to circle K and fill up to the brim and let them pay me !

But knowing this country , we won't be getting the benefits of the price, Brent crude at $20 is great , when it was nearly or more than $100 a year ago or a few months ago.

Is it the same 1.6T that's in the Megane GT ? I had a good spin in one of those great little engine and car but ran out of steam further up the revs i hope it's more than just a map to get it up to 270.

It was the West Texas Intermediate benchmark that feel below 0 dollars yesterday at one stage. So just in America. As said its brent crude price that would effect fuel prices. Reason it fell below 0 is with contracts demand being low supply still strong all the storage tanks are full so there is nowhere for it hence the low price. Those that had contracts to take the oil and struggling to take it with no space for storage.

But either way Brent crude is steady so won't cause a drop in the price of petrol diesel etc here.

Is it not the Mini cooper engine?

Yeah, the older minis had a related engine alright.

The RCZ was the only other one with the 270bhp
Pretty much every current model of Citroen and Peugeot have it too but in lower power output.

I see they have released photos of the new A3 saloon. Not a huge departure from the old one on the outside but no real surprise there:

Interior is big step up over the old one in terms of design and tech though I'm not a fan of those stick on vents near the top of the steering wheel:

God eurocarparts customer service is beyond atrocious. Waiting nearly a month for the second part of an order I placed with them.

The old A3 Saloon was a good looking car especially in decent spec with LED rear light.

The interior was the biggest let down really such a long way behind the A4 and A5. That new interior has brought it in line with there A4 and A5 which is good. The price though will be no doubt a good premium on a new golf.

I’d see a fair few Audi’s with similar stickers going around Limerick.
