I worked with college students that wouldn't dream of going out with a waiter/barman unless they (the lads) were doing it for pocket money in uni. They wanted men with prospects.

shows you what they know. it is shortsighted to judge someone on their occupation. them waiters/barmen could go on to do far greater things than guys who were in uni. look at someone like Duncan Bannatyne, he did various "dead end jobs" in his 20's, when he turned 30 he decided he would become a millionaire and in 5 years he had achieved his goal. at one stage he was worth 300 million or more.

The thing is to have a woman half your age + 10. So if you are 50 the woman should have 35.

Not necessarily, some people just prefer an older partner, how they look, act, maturity, greater wealth often comes with age but its certainly not always the only thing people like about an older partner. When I was younger I just preferred older men, it was nothing to do with their money I really couldnt care less about it, I just found guys a bit older than me more attractive

When I was 19, I went out with a 37 year old. Was mad about him.

He used to sing that sing to me the H17 song ...I was 37, you were 17 ( ok I was 19, but same principles apply).

Lasted 2 years and imploded for various reasons.

Was nothing to do with money.

Saw him across a room almost 30 years later...it would not have worked. Everything is but a point in time.

You're preaching to the converted - I married a barman.

The impression that they're more worldly and can teach us and take care of us. He might also have hidden assets inthe non monetary sense of the word.

Some awful cynicism on this thread. There's a fourteen year age gap between my partner and I. I'm also divorced with two children so there's no way she's with me for my wealth. We have similar interests, like the same food and share a sense of humour.
Oh and nobody ever seems to quote Debbie McGee's answer to the Mrs Merton question, "I saw the size of his wand."

My 24 year old mate is having sex with a girl he believes to be underage. Is that illegal?

It's statutory rape if she's legally underage. The age of consent here is 17.

Sometimes money is just a side effect. A man needs to have certain personality traits to get them, which can be very attractive to women.

With money usually goes power, which again can be very attractive to women.

And an attractive man because of money, personality traits and power has bigger choice and can choose a young woman, if it is what he likes.

On the other hand I've seen a very wealthy man who obviously "bought" a young pretty woman and then was resentful, that she was with him because of his money, while he never tried to get a woman in a different way....

It's the female gorillas attracted to the mightiest silverback, but human society has wealth and other societal aspects instead of strength and aggression. This is why everyone was so upset by the death of Harambe. All women secretly want to be dragged up to the top of the Empire State and be ploughed out of it by Kong. BTW, when are we due for another incel/PUA thread? I'm getting out of practice.

Why do young women partner with much older men who are wealthy ! Would these same women be interested if the man didn't have so much money ! Its like they have given up on life and are prepared to be chosen one.

They don't want a broke dude who can't afford to feed his kids.

I know women who are accountants etc Drs ..they wouldn't date a broke dude.

Lets be honest ...women marrying broke men....generations of poverty come from this.
Successful people are always more attractive to poor losers who can barely provide for themselves nevermind anyone else.
Successful people also want other successful people.

I worked with college students that wouldn't dream of going out with a waiter/barman unless they (the lads) were doing it for pocket money in uni. They wanted men with prospects.

    This is true.

And these men know it. They know if he loses his money she walks. Also she knows if she weren't pretty he wouldn't look twice. Or he might leave as she gets older.

There is one thing i don't like about these posts though it reeks of ..Poor rich dude. Poor pretty girl ...YEAH RIGHT

The girl wants the easy way out. She wants to be a pet not an equal. She will do his bidding and put up with any crap.

    He is a sleazy sleazebag.

We aren't talking about when its genuine though. We are talking about when its not. Sure people fall in love with older people or people wealthier than them.

But what about when they don't fall in love ...but are with this person. That happens to.

It doesn't mean every age diff i see i go ..ooops golddigger.

We are talking about this specific situation.

More likely they see each other as a mark. Someone they exploit. Both of them ...he can control her get her to put up with stuff she wouldn't with a poorer younger guy...she can live on his money and do nothing. It works for them. They both see each other as naive.

Of course ..you can just fall in love with an older person.

Sorry I missed the word wealthy! He was broke. But had done pretty well when I saw him years later.

I would say there are a lot of millionaires who seduce underage women or women in bad situations too.

I would say there is a lot of this.

Cool ..but we aren't talking about genuine cases. Either with broke or wealthy older men. You would be silly to think its never genuine.

We are talking about the psychology involved when its obviously not genuine.

I'm sure a lot of wealthy men become womanizers. It tends to be them who end up with golddiggers.

There might be some genuine wealthy guys who end up with scammers and for them i feel truly sorry.

But not all of them are innocent. Plus there are some men who use wealth to seduce naive people into an abusive situation.
    Prince Philip etc ..

Below is an article about a guy who beat his gf 117 times and despite some of it being on video ..he got away with it all.

The inequality in wealth ..can lead to inequality in the relationship.

Perhaps for the guy that is attractive.
