We are even further down the road than I thought.

    Rapid relaxation through May.

Followed by equally rapid reintroduction of restrictions if death rates spike followed by partial relaxation etc etc in a repeating cycle over the next 15 to 18 months or until such time as an effective vaccine is developed.

The Chinese will sell us a vaccine before Christmas.

Or an effective treatment. Or if possible, we achieve herd immunity.

Honestly let the people, i just want a vote so the people have no one to blame but themselves if it goes wrong. I dont want 6 months down the line if the place is in a heap people saying..."The gov shuda done this done that" when they get what they ask for.

Are you saying you want the government to hold a vote on whether to ease restrictions?

Would that be why I prefaced it with "if possible" in your opinion?

Dunno how but be great to have the people that ask for it to be the ones solely responsible for the outcome of it, and have no one to blame.

I would hazard a guess that the 2km limit will be lifted from May6th. This will enable more movement. Many businesses will be given the choice of whether they want to open but that would be up to individual businesses. There will however be continued restrictions on gatherings of more than a few people. So I would say the opening of pubs, cinemas, larger restaurants and any sporting events would all be prohibited at least until the beginning of June.

If they dont get this right we will see a second wave of infections, another peak and we'll all be under lockdown again, so its up to people not to take the pi$$.

People couldn't be trusted to vote on such a complex matter. Just ask Britain what happens when you ask people to vote on something they don't fully understand :pac:

The "anti lockdown merchants" strike me as being completely miserable and negative with or without C-19. You will find them in after hours once and when this is all over :D.

You are right about one thing...we will be in after hours for sure.

    Not miserable, but drunk.

As soon as the restrictions are half eased people will be in full flow of taken the piss, wait and see the crowds out for picnics at beaches ect... i genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see another lockdown.

They may aswell just scrap the lot of the restrictions... and say if ya can be bolloxed lads wash ur hands and stay 2 m apart, other than that sesh on.

They won't lift the 2km limit on May 5, it'll be stuff like letting out those who have been cocooning, opening certain low-risk stores like DIY stores, etc.

What do we do if they ease the restrictions in May and it all goes wrong? what do we do then?

There will be no sporting events taking place until the autumn at the earliest and even then only behind closed doors.

This is why it will be done slowly, lift a few restrictions, lots of rapid testing on suspected cases, reassess, lift more restrictions/do nothing, repeat at 2 week intervals for as long as it takes to get back to normal.

Absolutely no way will this happen so soon. The people in those categories will be the last to have the restrictions eased.
