think it was said it could take another month and a half or two months to actually form a government

They still need a few to make the required numbers, wondering what small party is willing to fall on that sword, even if their leader gets a ministerial pension out of it, or if the independents get a look in

This is interesting till you ask yourself why was the army required to take coffins out of hospitals in Itsly, etc.

No doubt conspiracy theorists will say the coffins were empty and that the families of the victims were just crisis actors
President Chump's rally is over for this evening.

I thought it was very short. He also took very few questions, he was stung badly on Monday night and doesnt want the media asking awkward questions that show his response as being poor. So he got out of there quick smart.

Just found out who the 2 healthcare workers from St. Lukes hospital in Kilkenny who died are. Didn't know the man - but the woman was a very nice lady who served food to my wife when she was a patient there. Very saddened.

I believe there was a complaint a few weeks ago that while doctors and nurses were kitted out in full PPE in hospitals, the catering staff had no PPE. I hope this wasn't the case for these two staff members.

RIP to them both, genuine heroes.

John Roberts is actually a good journalist. FOX also have Chris WALLACE who is excellent , and had Shep Smith until the stench made him jump ship a few month ago.

The man who died was not catering staff. He was a healthcare assistant

I'm a little behind on the Trump presser but is he making a play to lead the WHO should he not get another term?

Unlikely. He has another four years to do in the most powerful position in the world. Maybe afterwards if there is time

Bolsanaro in Brazil - strategy of ignorance failing.

Taiwan had a set of unique restrictions based on SARS which had nothing to do with lockdown in the W. European sense. They didn't confine people to their houses or shut down economic activity (every article about Taiwan says 'restaurants, bars, schools, universities and offices remain open'.)

They had border controls, comprehensive testing, early contact tracing, and an early ramp up in mask production.

They were very smart in their approach. They banned healthcare workers travelling to hotspot zones as soon as they were identified. They temperature checked passengers from Wuhan on the planes. They rolled out temperature screening across the country. They checked people were isolating using their mobile phone locations. They sent a fact finding team to Wuhan to find out all they could about cv. Along with numerous other precautions.

And they've had a grand total of 395 cases and 6 deaths.

In a way very government benefits from situation like this. Every problem imaginable can be now blamed on "it happend because of this..."
Even our one - remember water protests? Billing scrapped after people took into the streets. Now are essentially locked in home with no end in sight.
And no, it is not every government in every country and it is far from synchronised.
If it was really that bad then there would be millions of dead people all over africa and asia - mainly poor countries with non existent health industry.

Yes such as Ecuador where bodies are being left on the streets

Not to downplay it but those are small enough numbers for the size of their population.

I think Belgium posted similar numbers despite having 1/20th the population.

You really can only judge leaders performances on deaths per million population.

People think the US are doing badly but per 1 million they are streets ahead of the likes of Belgium, Italy, Sweden, UK and Spain.

Dr. Kim interesting to listen to

Covid virus can remain for upto a month in people but maybe longer in those with weaker immune systems. Mers virus stayed in somone after recovery for 52 days not sure yet with COvid19. fascinating stuff

Washing hands social distancing and wearing masks important to prevent it

Not particulary good example as Ecuador was caught in this while right in the middle of national crisis. Country was already paralysed in a state of semi lockdown due to massive protests against government. Their health system was not functioning with a lot of dead people daily. This only excacerbated problems they were already facing.

Simple Simon: "Trump's WHO decision is inexcusable"

    Early March:

Kingston Mills: "We should close the borders. Why haven't we done it?"

Simple Simon: Eh, Urm, Err….... we're in the EU, its about freedom of movement"

    Inexcusable decisions indeed...

US deaths are not recorded where a person dies at home. There are many people who cannot afford treatment and are dying at home. These people are not included in their number of deaths. Right now on CNN there is case after case of people who cannot afford their medications, and their outlook is dire.

You said if this virus was real it would be causing a lot of deaths in poor countries because of poor healthcare , there you go , Ecuador
