I don’t use Boards often, but when we’re in a pandemic and I want to discuss and see what other people in the same country are thinking, it’s the best and only place. Why are you obsessing over people’s post counts?

    That makes sense thanks

If we are going down the suppression route as a strategy do we have the cojones as a society and a government to deliver on it?

Suppression can work as long as soon as we have a case we can jump on it and isolate the infected person and have sht hot immediate contact tracing that isolates all the contacts

Korea are the gold standard here. Will we use technology e.g phone trackers and mass testing like them? Forgetting about GDPR for a while would be required. Do we trust people to self isolate or like SK put them in isolation accommodation until they are in the clear? Taking no chances!

We will need to grow up as a society and the government will need to develop a hard edge if we are realistically going down the suppression route.

My brother in law was in bergamo in italy in late jan and madrid in March
He was very sick when he came back and applied for a test
They came out to test him after about 10 days then he was waiting weeks for the result
Last Wednesday he got the results saying he was negative
Today they rang him back saying he is positive
You can make up this ****

Our testing is a disaster it seems

So following on from the concert going for the last 5 hours here, which included a lovely variety of eras of music, a man trying to be a DJ by mixing tracks together and several quizzes where lots of neighbours and kids in the same garden stood up, walked to the mic and answered what song they guessed had just played to win chocolate... we’ve got fireworks going for the last 10 minutes. Get ready for the surge everyone... :(

Don`t you have the Garda phone number?

Let's be clear here, nobody is saying Cheltenham was ground zero for this virus but at the same time and i want to be very clear about this every single person who went to Cheltenham is a selfish pr1ck and it certainly didn't help our cause in stopping the spread.

Bollox. The weekend before Paddys all the pubs were heaving because people knew they were going to be closed.

    All the beaches were heaving.

All the shops were rammed with the panic buyers.

Lets be honest, we all partied;)

Unfortunately I also know of another case where the person was told during the week they were negative and rang by the HSE today to be told they were actually positive!!

Would people ever just give over about Cheltenham. You’d swear the virus started there.
It didn’t the Italian visitors for the called of rugby match were a lot worse.

Our biggest problem in this country is the nursing homes. Everyone missed out by not acting quicker around these vulnerable areas.

Most of our deaths are linked to nursing homes. For god sake we had agency staff moving between numerous homes for weeks.

If someone can 100% identify exactly how many cases returned from Cheltenham it would give some reason to be going on about it.

Almost 9000 cases did not all come from Cheltenham.

It was the J1 types skiing that brought the virus in. Worth it though for the photos they posted on Instagram and Tinder of themselves on the slopes.

Validation of HPSC data this week has resulted in the denotification of 1 death yesterday. The cumulative total ROI deaths is now 320, not 321

If I walked from my home until I came to the arc of a 2 km circle, went right around the arc and then walked home, I would have travelled ~ 16.57 km.

Why are people including the German tests in today’s “new case” growth rate when they’re all basically outdated? They’re not new cases. It’s a false narrative.

I think all supermarkets are closed tomorrow at least the staff are getting a well deserved break.

J1 tag is a bit much, plenty of regular students that are not silver spooned go on J1 visas.

Many countries have run into big problems with testing - ditto with supplies of PPE

We seem to have gotten it into our heads that we in Ireland are messing up, whilst everyone else is doing brilliantly (perhaps the media are not doing a good job of explaining this)

Everyone that ever tested positive is counted in our overall 8,928 figure are they not.

Could easily happen - the person might not have had Covid or a bureaucratic mistake was made when recording the death
