Why would this be a fear? True cases being multiples higher is the best we can hope for right now, it would mean the rate of hospitalisation / ICU / deaths is lower. There's no way they've captured most of their cases, we already know that a lot of people are asymptomatic so unlikely to have been tested.

A high number of undetected cases increases the risk of continuing community spread.

No hindsight ABT it it's a virus that hits them hardest -their head of operations told the government that weeks ago and they did nothing

I know of a family where the wife and child are in the summer home because the father is on the frontline and they’re isolating from eachother since March to protect the child with asthma.
Don’t see an issue with this as they’re not going back and forth to the houses.

Obviously the people who take their families on a mini holiday to their holiday home and go back and forth between main house and holiday home isn’t necessary.

Its the latter is case here....i was out v.early other morning and main road was busy with cars coming into area in middle of night to avoid detection.

Why are people making such an issue over the leaving cert?
The option was the best they could do, the students have got full marks in orals and an extra month or two to study.

Predicted grades would be a disaster. What if the teacher wasn’t a fan of yours , what if you’d sub teachers for a while who didn’t know your ability.

    People love to moan.

German labs are from a week or two ago, afaik, so a lot of those have recovered or gone to hospital etc.

Think if the Guards got speaking to the wife you mention there I'd reckon they'd be very appreciative of her taking the hard step to seperate the family, people like them need applauded by the time this is over.

839 extra confirmed cases ,553 new cases, plus 286 older swab results now in from Germany. Which realistically the German results are at least 2-3 weeks old which means the people are either self isolating, recovered or would have been admitted to hospital.
Wouldn't focus too much on the addition of those at this stage.
Again its hosptial and ICU numbers to watch

Shocking figure for an island state with a small population on lockdown for weeks

839 cases meaning a 10.37% daily increase if we include the german results.

Why were the old age homes not first to be closed off weeks ago can't understand that

They were. No visitors, but staff could come and go. Also no PPE for them.

They have been closed for weeks, the virus got in to them via the staff, not visitors

No, because the German tests predated the batch being analysed today, so strictly speaking belong to last week's set.
