    Season 1 was brilliant..

On ep 2 season 2 now..

They really are overdoing the vulgarity in it...it’s odd.

Maybe it will tone down, but it’s ridiculously forced so far. Not at all working..
I have seen the first 3 of season 2.
I totally disagree, incredibly sweet don't mind the odd bit of vulgarity :), ep3 was the best so far for me, the girl who plays Aimee is excellent
Step up from season 1 for me and I loved the first season.

Really good but not quite as good as S1 imo. Just want Otis and Maeve to get together:)

I am up to episode 7 now of season 2.
It's brilliant imo, love that the supporting characters are getting some more to do.

Still good fun but I don't like how the main premise of the show (the clinic) took such a backseat, made it more of a typical teen comedy/drama as a result. It didn't feel as fresh to me as season one.

    Also the ending:
was a big let down. Essentially a re-hash of the first series ending. Just get on with it!

Ya I thought it was good fun but this season story wise went nowhere, like when season 3 starts if you went from S1 into it S3 I doubt you feel you missed a whole series

Yeah I hated the ending especially what
Isaac did by erasing the voicemail
The new side characters were great and loved that
they didn't do a cliche relationship between Viv and Jackson
. I don't think the clinic really is the premise of the show , it's more about the kids getting answers/solutions to their sexual issues which as we saw
Jean helped with a lot of issues this season. I can't see the clinic coming back due it not being a secret anymore but I can see Jean maybe have more involvement in the sex education in the school

Going by the release for last two seasons, we probably won't get Season 3 until this time next year. Season 2 was filmed between May and September last year.

    I really enjoyed this.
It covers so many aspects of teen, and indeed adult relationships.

Anne Marie Duff is a great addition as Maeve's mother.
Actually, all of the casting is spot on.
The school principal and Adam could pass for real life father and son.

Looking forward to a return next year.

Quite liked S2, not as much as S1. Some of the cringe moments are a bit too much for me, and some of the dramatic timing really wrecks my head. Otis texting Meave right before he had the conversation with Ola for example.

My fear is that the pace is too high for sustainability. They're either gonna need to keep adding characters. Or they're gonna run out of potential links between them.

Was not inspired after 3 episodes, but it really took off after, and I really enjoyed it. So many great little stories in it

The one kind of irritating part is 'will they won't they.' I think it has been dragged out too long now, and I don't really care for the outcome.

Just finished series 2, tried my best to space it out but four days was really all I could wait from start to finish. A brilliant show and series, I think it was just as good, if not better, than the first. It feels a bit short at eight episodes though, could do with a couple more. Can't wait for series 3!

It`s enjoyable to watch, but the praise it get`s is ridiculous. The only thing it really does is propagate homosexuality, same-sex relationship/marriage, feminism, trangender and teenage sexualisation. They dont educate sex, they promote it. But this seems to be everything mainstream media is caring for today.

Is that really all you took from the show? It's very funny and has a lot of heart. Teenage sexualisation aside, what's wrong with the rest of what you claim it "propagates"?

I said it`s enjoyable, but yes that`s all I took from it.

Nothing particularly wrong with it, it`s just painfully obvious and you can see that there is an agenda behind it that tries to promote this subjects to young adults.

Was there a transgender character? I'm only three episodes into Series 2, but I didn't notice anyone so far.

And are they 'promoting' anything, or just recognising the reality of teenage life?

Half of Eric's screen time in S1 is showing him cross-dressed.

There is a difference between portray a topic and promote it.

Meave is a storybook "feminist", Eric is "gay", Rahim is "gay", Anwar is "gay", Adam experiments his "sexuality" and is probably "gay" too. Ola also experiments her "sexuality" and is probably "bi", Lily god knows what she is maybe an alien, Jackson has two mothers. Come on as if this mirrors any sorts of reality :), when there are about 5% of the population, that see themselves as "homosexuals".

If you want to see an unbiased portrayal of this themes, I recommend to check out the TV Series Skam.

You know there's a difference between cross-dressing and transgenderism, right? Though you are slightly exaggerating his dressing anyway.

What's all the "quotes" about? I guess if TV dramas showed ordinary life all the time, they might not be that interesting or attractive.

I don`t like to define people by their sexuality or their beliefs.

I'm two episodes into season 2 and watched them a while ago. I couldn't name the gay character without looking up IMDB (or seeing now it's Eric from your later posts). 'Education' in the show's title is as much about functioning in life itself and the sex is partly a vehicle for that rather than riding lessons for the viewer. The show is an exaggeration, like much pop culture, we only have to see the likes Otis doing stuff in the car in 2.01 for that. There is well known term in developmental psychology about adolescence as a time of storm and stress. https://link.springer.com/referenceworkentry/10.1007%2F978-1-4419-1695-2_111 The adults in the show make a mess of things as much as their offspring or students.

It's almost as if you're saying that gay, bi, feminist don't actually exist - that they're not real. Is that what you're saying?

And just to confirm - there is NO transgender character involved, so you can wind back down your outrage on that one just a notch.

never said there is a transgender character, said it promotes it. Also there is nothing to be outraged of.

We already were on that point, Eric's cross-dressing. Yeah for you it`s a big difference, for me it amounts to the same thing.

So for yourself, putting on a bra, knickers and a dress would have a similar impact to spending a few years taking heavy doses of female hormones, cutting off your genitals, turning them inside out and giving you breast implants?

It amounts to the same thing, right?

You're really proving the point of the show about the need for sex education.

I'm not offended. I'm just pointing out that your complaint about the show 'promoting transgender' was completely unfounded.

IMO, your complaint about the show promoting anything was unfounded.

I'd say there is probably 2 seasons of story left, knowing Netflix they cancel some shows after 3 seasons. They could probably do one season set during school term and another during summer holiday or school trip.

Watched first episode of new series....top notch as usual.

I couldn't stand Jemima Kirke in girls but she is terrific here!

    Oh plus amazing song choices

Have watched the first 3 episodes and i'm rather nonplussed. Seems to be trying too hard to be "woke." Writing decidedly average too.

Maybe it'll improve or maybe i'm expecting too much cause the first two series were great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,100 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

Just finished it there. There were a few good episodes but some of the character development was bad. I can see this getting one more season just to have them finish school especially given what happens in the last episode.

    Regarding the last episode

So , looks like Jakob is not the father and it's probably the motorcycle guy, pretty bad writing in fairness. The whole Maeve and Otis thing felt rushed and with off to the US, I've a feeling she won't be in the next season if there is one.

So, finished this a couple days ago and.....

Thought it was pretty terrible overall. Maybe redeemed slightly by the last couple of episodes but only slightly. Maybe i hold the first 2 series in too high a pedestal though.

Storyline (or lack of it) was pretty outrageous at times. Writing very poor and really dislikable characters IMO. And i thought they'd done a pretty good job with the characters especially the unlikable ones up to the end of S2.

Viv, the non Binary wan, the new headmistress - all very annoying IMO. Eric too.Otis just seemed wooden.

Headmaster Groff's character, while going on a bit of a redemption, went nowhere in the end.

Just full of gross out humour; which i accept is needed but there was just too much of it.

    And the goat? WTF.
