Uk deaths are down by a third to 434. Still alot, but seems to be stabilizing.

I would say measures are not in place long enough in the UK to have taken effect yet

Number updated to match today's report
I believe that there is up to 3 week delay from someone being infected to it being reported
if you were infected on the 16th and take 4-5 days to become sick then 3-4 days to get a test and 7 days for the results we will only start to see the lock down affect numbers slowly this week

we are not beating this yet we need the number to keep dropping
if we stay at 7% in 3 weeks infected would be 24K

    No Change in number

    Slow Change

    Big Drop in numbers

again with all of this I'm just trying to show people the 14 day delay in an change in how we deal with this
if you wait till we are overloaded it's too late

    interesting visualization of covid19

are people confident that the "lower" figures we are still getting are down to a success, or is it still a risky figure given low testing rates still?
Some people were trumpeting success when the numbers were still just blowing up, so probably best not to read too much into it.

I've given up looking at case numbers, and just look at death numbers now. My optimism may lag a little as a result :P

At a lower rate. Flattening the curve. It's not that hard to understand.

101 to 102 to 103 is not flatening!

Italy may have taken a bullet for us.

If it wasn't for the horror being visited upon that country I do wonder if we would have taken social distancing quite so seriously?

It is though... The rate of increase tells you the slope of the curve.

We have testing back log, results delays and lost swabs, we need to up the testing imho

He also added in that they would require the lab capacity to be fully up to lift any restrictions

476 additional cases from German testing - is that additional???

Where did this figure come from, did they announce it in the press conference?

You've just made the same mistake as the journalist.

Well he said that so far it has only been indicated that 4 of the 16 had underlying conditions, that's not to say that "only" 4 had underlying conditions.

I don't understand the love of lower %s.it doesn't mean much.
Say you have 1000 cases then 100 so 10% increase. Next days you have 101,102,103, etc. % keeps going down. Actual number keeps going up!

We have 5364 cases since the start. 370 new today.

But how many of the 5364 recovered today?

Eventually the number of recovered each day exceeds the new and the number of live cases begins to recede, as we pass the peak.

That are known. That doesn't mean only 4. All 16 could have had underlying conditions, they're just not known.
