"And according to Estrin, Lost in Space is ending on its own terms when Season 3 concludes, rather than being cancelled"

Seems that it was always going to be a trilogy of seasons apparently.

Feels like a lot of universe building with the possibility of many more stories to tell to call it a day now with only one more season.

Smother From RTE & The BBC
The Stranger actress Dervla Kirwan has landed the lead role in Smother, the noir thriller produced by BBC Studios for Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Kirwan, who features as the recurring character Corrine Price in Netflix’s The Stranger, will play family matriarch Val Ahern in Smother, which is penned by The Spanish Princess and Mr Selfridge writer Kate O’Riordan.

Ahern’s partner is found dead at the foot of a cliff the morning after a family party and as she unravels the circumstances that led to his demise, she discovers how his controlling, manipulative behavior impacted his children and siblings.

Other cast includes Niamh Walsh (Good Omens), Seána Kerslake (Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope) and Gemma-Leah Devereux (Judy), who play Ahern’s daughters Jenny, Grace and Anna.

Stuart Graham (The Cure), Thomas Levin (Borgen), Hilary Rose (The Young Offenders) and Justine Mitchell (Cheat) also feature in the six-part series, which is co-produced by Irish producer Treasure Entertainment.

Kirwan said: “It’s been a long time since anything this well written about an Irish family has come my way. In Smother Kate O’Riordan has created a riveting thriller that will wake the world up to contemporary Ireland.”

O’Riordan serves as the lead writer and executive producer, with supporting writers including Tom Farrelly, Daniel Cullen and Ursula Rani Sarma. Tom Sherry and Michael Parke are also executive producing for BBC Studios. Treasure’s Rob Walpole and Rebecca O’Flanagan are the producers.

Screen Ireland and the Western Region Audio-Visual Producers Fund are providing finance for Smother, which will be shot entirely in the west of Ireland. BBC Studios is distributing the series internationally.

    Anyone see pennyworth? great show

You had me thinking there was a second season due to air soon?
On October 30, 2019, Epix made Pennyworth season 2 official. The second season will again consist of 10 episodes, and begins production early in 2020, with a premiere before the end of the year planned.

    .....

Considering Pennyworth season 1 took about seven months to finish production, and a 2020 premiere is planned for season 2, a fall debut makes the most sense for the series. Pennyworth season 2's January 2020 production start would have it likely wrap sometime in August, perfect timing for an October or November premiere.

^^^ Above hoping #covid19 doesn't affect the filming schedule?

Edit: - More info here: - Pennyworth - US-Pace- Epix (**Spoilers**)

The Digital Services Act 2024 [EU] ~ Social Media and You ~ Nanny State guidance for parental monitoring of apps ~ Censorship: - broad laws that will probably effect Adult use of same.

    Life on Mars

Life on Mars creator confirms third and final series is in the works

Matthew Graham says new series of show will be set in 70s, 80s and an alternate present
Fire up the Quattro: Life on Mars is to return for a third and final series set in the 70s, 80s and an alternate present, its creator has confirmed.

The BBC series, which aired between 2006 and 2007 and followed a detective – presumed dead or in a coma after a car accident – who was transported back in time to 1970s Manchester.

A huge ratings success with an epic soundtrack and memorable central pairing of the cantankerous, sweary boss DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister) and his time-travelling sidekick, DI Sam Tyler (John Simm), it also led to a 2008 spinoff, Ashes to Ashes, starring Keeley Hawes.

In a Twitter webchat to accompany an online watch-along for the show’s first two series, its co-creator Matthew Graham said: “We would never make another Mars unless we really had something to say and could push the envelope all over again. Finally, we have something.”

I thought 'Ashes to Ashes' tidied it all up pretty well though. Seems very odd to have this. Will give it a look regardless although I won't expect to see it on screen for a long time.

True, and the cast will look a bit older but as a hiatus but a good bit shorter than say 'Twin Peaks' - 26 years, 'Doctor Who' at a 26 year gap or 'The Mysterious Cities of Gold' at 30 years between seasons one and two..

    https://tvline.com/2020/04/08/doogie-howser-reboot-female-lead-disney-plus/

Disney+ wants is developing a new version of the 1989-93 medical dramedy Doogie Howser, M.D., which will put a female character at the center of the story.

Tentatively titled Doogie Kealoaha, M.D., the potential series will focus on a half-Asian, half-white 16-year-old girl who works as a doctor in Hawaii. Kourtney Kang, who served as a producer on How I Met Your Mother throughout its nine-season run, will write and executive-produce.

It will probably end up being a 31 year old Krista Marie Yu playing the role, she is doing well as a teenager in Last Man Standing.

    The Operative

Craig T. Nelson & Son Noah Nelson Team With Landmark Studio Group On Spy Thriller ‘The Operative’
Father/son duo Craig T. Nelson and Noah Nelson have partnered with nascent producer Landmark Studio Group to develop spy thriller The Operative, loosely based on Harvey Gomberg’s book Code Name Stinger.

Noah Nelson, who has written on shows including Hawaii Five-0 and Secrets and Lies, has created the drama, which is being eyed as a ten-part series, with his Coach and Parenthood star father set to star in the leading role of retired intelligence operative John Straw.

The father and son team has echoes of Eugene and Dan Levy, whose Schitt’s Creek bowed out this week, albeit in drama.

Straw was mysteriously forced to end his career following the Cold War but re-emerges to warn of an upcoming attack on American soil. A young analyst named Emma, sent by the CIA to interview him about his claims, uncovers that Straw is full of stories, some pointing to a decades old conspiracy with ties to the Kremlin. In her search for the truth, Emma and John soon become allies as they work together to try to stop a skilled, cunning, and formidable enemy before it’s too late.

The series is loosely based on Harvey Gomberg’s book Code Name Stinger with Gomberg consulting on the series.

Noah Nelson will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Anne Clements (The Oath), Landmark’s CEO David Ozer, and VP, development and production Tim Rouhana will also executive produce, while Gary Hellerstein joins as supervising producer.

Former IDW Entertainment President Ozer, who launched Landmark Studio Group with Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment last year, told Deadline that it will be a “high-end thriller” that they’ll take out to premium broadcasters and streamers.
