    The CladdaghCam shows Galway's shop street deserted. There's a few people walking when I was watching and definitely social distancing taking place when I was watching. Very quite for the most part.

    +1000. We need to make more things more locally. relying on China as we in the West have increasingly done is very unwise. Particularly when it's an insular, us first, regime(and to a great degree culture) like China. I read an American view on this and it applies to here and the EU too. He put it like this: We're in a "war" at the moment, but in times like that no nations military would rely on outsourcing the manufacturing of bullets to another nation. Ireland should definitely up its production of pharmaceuticals across the board and not just in relation to this crisis. We're already in that game and should run with that positive.

    Did you see the video of the police on Brazil clearing a beach? Shooting people at point blank range with non lethal rounds. Unreal.

    Yes indeed. Unfortunately common sense and obvious solutions to problems seem to be gone completely out the door. Staying at home seems to be affecting people's brains to think logically.

    They've been pretty clear construction sites have been deemed non-essential, but does anyone think this allows to houses that are halfway through renovations/repairs. Some of these houses might be left without electricity, water or heating if these works aren't continued...

    I've just had a text from AES saying they've been designated as an essential service and bins will be collected as usual - presumably the same for all waste services. Not all superheroes wear capes - that's a job I really wouldn't want to do at this time - I hope they have adequate PPE.

    One thing about this crisis, it just shows how absolutely petrified by death we all are. Doesn’t matter if you’re 90 or 40, once you reach the age where the tho7ht of mortality becomes a part of your immediate future, we will do everything to stop it, including shutting down whole economies leading to economic catastrophe so a 90 year old can live a few more months in a nursing home.

    We shouldn’t fear death, will come to us all but humanity acts as if death is not a universal experience. Just have to hope there is something beyond.

    Why would we want to import UK cases? They're heading for a catastrophic situation. We have enough to deal with here with our own cases.

    Update on construction.
    Minister for Health Simon Harris has confirmed that construction workers will not be considered “essential” workers for the duration of the crisis.

    On Newstalk Breakfast with Susan Keogh this morning, he said construction workers will only be permitted to continue at work if they are building something that is essential to the pandemic.

    The intention is not to scare or worry.
    Clearly, there are teens and young adults that have not been taking this seriously (meeting their friends in parks and fields, and other reckless behaviours)

    A reminder that other people in their age group can also get this virus and been severely sick, can be an eye opener.

    Leo decommissioned out helicopter only months ago. The hypocrisy of the GOVT is unreal, clapping for staff who had to strike in order to get a few extra quid. Not doing anything for supermarket staff on zero hour contracts... Clap now and when /if all is said and done, look after them.

    Those videos were crazy weren't they?

    The cops beating them with sticks for not adhering and filming while doing so...

    They thought nah no fines here, let's beat them with sticks...

    Here it will most likely be a harsh reprimand I think.

    I think most people will abide to the guidelines but there's always the morons who just don't care.
