Can they not find less excitable reporters?!

    Thank you!

It does seem to be ventilators that are more in need but the alarming jump in ICU cases is scary. We have jumped from approx 15 cases last week to approx 60 cases this week. A similar jump in the next week would have about 300 people in ICU. Scary stuff :((

Read today in the report that we're approaching ICU capacity by early next week if things continue as is.

How many ICU beds does Ireland have right now?

    Approx 500
Approx 49 taken up by covid.
Others used by people sick with other things.
    Don’t know how many unused.
    Anyone?

Varadkar needs to stop being a step behind this and get two steps ahead.

Construction sites and factories to close?

Hundreds of thousands on the dole Monday morning

I don't think there's much point closing down anything else. That horse has kind of bolted.

You couldn't say for individuals in the party though. You mightn't like your workplace but it would hardly include everyone. Under Enda he expected to get the Finance portfolio Richard Bruton held.

At any rate he sounded a bit too in awe of Leo.

How can factories close? Pharmaceutical companies making medicine, Medtronic making ventilators, companies supplying these companies.

I must say, I despair reading some of the comments on this thread. What are some of these people like in real life. Scary though.

They want things to be bad, and Ireland to be the worst.

Until yesterday deaths here were low per capita, but because of a once off increase, that's the panic. That cases are not following the trends of early in the last month doesn't bring them any joy.

    507269.PNG

    Slow Change
    507270.PNG

    Big Drop in numbers
    507271.PNG

again with all of this i'm just trying to show people the 14 day delay in an change in how we deal with this
if you wait till we are overloaded it's too late
everyone has to make up there own mind but at least look at the maths

    3 weeks no change 44K
    3 weeks slow change 29K
    3 weeks big drop 9K

    1 month no change 151K
    1 month slow change 56K
    1 month big drop 11K

    intresting visualization of covid

you need to decide what you do today to affect 3 weeks from now

George Lee is talking rubbish, I have friends in other European countries where some have acted much earlier than Ireland.

Ireland has been slow to act, not as slow as some like the UK.

The last week we are seeing social distancing working well. Not once have we had a daily growth above 30%. We are doing well.

The current government are legally not allowed make any more legislation changes. A new government must be formed.

Well surely that's not good. That's the last thing we need in a crisis. There isn't time for this.

What is going to be done now about this
