there's probably loads of other type patients taking up icu beds at the moment...accidents, heart attacks, car crashes etc etc

You don't necessarily need ICU beds. Other countries are talking about ventilators in the 10s of thousands, they certainly don't have the ICU staff to man them so why do we need full ICU. The Excel centre in london won't be full of ICU equipment. I'm sure theres scores of cases that can be managed with just a ventilator.

Over 2000 cases... They're only testing people with at least two symptoms... Means we have way more cases here than 2000.

George Lee is talking rubbish, I have friends in other European countries where some have acted much earlier than Ireland.

Ireland has been slow to act, not as slow as some like the UK.

George just said 59 in ICU right now.......but others say 59 cumulative......and they say to focus on the blurry ICU numbers?

I must say, I despair reading some of the comments on this thread. What are some of these people like in real life. Scary though.

They said 59 total on the radio earlier since this started. 22 have died but maybe not all made it to ICU.

I’d say this is just telling us guards have powers to fine and arrest now

Don't have the exact number but the daily report being emailed to us this morning said roughly 250 give or take.

One thing that striked me was that most of the regional hospitals only have 1 ICU bed suitable for Covid19.
Some of the big university hospitals had around 5 beds each.

Didn't read the stats for the Dublin region, so obviously there's more there in the big hospitals.

    Thank you!

It does seem to be ventilators that are more in need but the alarming jump in ICU cases is scary. We have jumped from approx 15 cases last week to approx 60 cases this week. A similar jump in the next week would have about 300 people in ICU. Scary stuff :((

We’ve got to stick together as a country, as a nation. But I’ll let most factories and construction sites work as normal.

It's how people are processing all of this. Very much once in a lifetime event and it's easy to be overwhelmed by all of it.

Yeah, it is like the school on the TV, and I heard someone say it is Ireland leading.
There are other countries where school has also been off for weeks where they had school on TV weeks ago.

There is a lot of brain washing going on to hide Ireland is not leading, it is following and behind a lot of the time.

If I was to impose a full lockdown, a Friday would be the day I'd choose. A large portion paid and the weekly shop done already.

Or he could be just coming on to say hello again.
