Surprised he has not said (yet) that the people who die were going to die anyway.

I'm a courier. Our company got told that Next and River Island are shutting their online stores. That's another driver gone for us. The lad who's probably going to be let go has kids and is paying hefty rent. It's just me with no bills and cheap rent. I'm gonna suggest to the boss to let me go instead and keep the other guy on. I don't want to stop working but I don't want to see anyone stuck, especially with a small family. Opinions?

Can the courier companies maybe start assisting with supermarket deliveries , maybe without frozen orders, our local store cancelled all its deliveries this week because they can’t cope, leaving vulnerable people with no food.

But we're not modelling S.Korea - if we are it's a piss poor attempt. We are nowhere near their level of restrictions or their level of testing.

You know Wuhan has more than twice the population of Ireland, right? So yes their approach was achievable and it's not nuts either... nuts is allowing 1,000's to die in the name of maintaining your reputation as a nice moderate limp-wristed liberal democracy... that's nuts! That's completely bonkers!

We can barely manage to test people who are showing often quite severe symptoms, for many days... in many Asian countries, they are mass testing... they're even testing animals in Hong Kong for this virus! ffs

We really need to pull the finger out, before it's too late!

You can't say that about Simple Simon and Leo here. They are the best

[Y]ou look at automobile accidents, which are far greater than any numbers we're talking about. That doesn't mean we're going to tell everybody, 'No more driving of cars.' So we have to do things to get our country open

The only danger with hitting a scummer that spat at you is you would lose the plot altogether and stay thrashing him until you were up for murder.

You'd pretty much have to keep going, he gets back up you're probably facing a knife as well.

Generational pond rats.its in their dna.hopefully a couple of guards give them a thrashing

Guards shouldn’t be thrashing anybody it’s in their rule book I would imagine unless the new legislation has introduced the Taliban into our society

Any guard still indulging in this practice may regret it

We might be over the worst of this by the end of April, or May, possibly into June? Who knows, but then there will be several questions about what just happened, like . . . . .

1/ Will the virus come back again next year?
2/ If I've caught it once might I catch it again?
3/ Might the virus mutate into a different strain?
4/ Could survivors have future complications?
5/ Was the release of Covid-19 a deliberate act?
    6) Why is it so random in its individual potency?
7/ What's been goin on while we're all distracted?
8/ Now they are taking it seriously? I wonder where we’ll be by Christmas 2020 with all of this?

    No 8 courtesy of 'citylights'.

See how the Indian police are treating anyone who dares be in areas that they shouldn't?

Real nasty cruel type people...whacking and belting people with sticks, when it's obvious that it not at all warranted....people putting up no resistance, and some actually looking like they are trying to move...

You see this is what you m talking about. You are blaming him for how bad they are going to be hit by covud-19. That's just ridiculous, there are governor's with enormous powers in every state in the US. There is the CDC whose job is to manage situations like this.
Donald Trump is a horrible human being and the worst President in the history of the USA I think. He is not responsible for Covid-19 though and what he says doesn't really matter as it's up to the governor of each state to decide how seriously they act to prevent the spread of this virus.
And as I've said it doesn't matter who says what, if you are going to blame the leader in one country then your a hypocrite if you are not blaming the leaders in the other countries.

Nope..sorry. As I was due to travel to NYC on March 12th - thankfully I didn't - I had been following the Mayor of NYC and Governor of NYS on Twitter since the middle of January and federal government let them down big time. They knew they were in trouble in late January/early March and had been calling out for weeks for proper testing kits, something they couldn't have equipped themselves with in advance, and a mess was made of rolling out kits in the beginning.

More sinister was the slowness with which federal government gave authorisation for private labs in NY (and probably other states) to join in the effort to enhance testing capabilities. The governor of NYS was screaming out about this on Twitter and in press conferences day after day as they had the labs lined up needing approval. It seemed to be a deliberate attempt by federal government to suppress numbers.

My response to Americans pushing that idea.

Half as many Americans have already died as died in 9/11.

Many more Italians or Spanish died than died in 9/11.

America fought wars over 9/11 sending many more people to their death. The international diplomatic scene has been dominated by the American response to 9/11 since that day.

Yet compared to the death toll of corona virus 9/11 is a small thing.

If you say the death toll of coronavirus is too small to worry about do you feel the death toll of 9/11 was too small to worry about.

Isolation isn't having the desired affect. New cases per day numbers are still rising.

If there's no forced lockdown it will continue and we'll be in the same position in 6 months time.. just do it now for a month and get it over with.

Just like the chinese did and now their numbers are on the rise again. What do you think happens in a month when we open our doors and come back outside. The numbers will rise because they need to. Unless you have some fantastic plan that can manage to isolate 8 billion people for one month so we eradicate the virus.
