European skies have been unbelievably quiet in term s of air travel. Mostly freight transport. The US by comparison is still busy enough.

That is bang out of order. No way should anyone in that setting not be wearing protective gear (especially given the age profile of the residents).

It is worrying seeing how many infected are healthcare workers (high %), they should be the first to be given PPE

Trump may be a bumbling idiot but he is right the widespread lock downs can't go on indefinitely.

We will have to accept this illness as a fact of life sooner or later, something to be managed.

Hopefully things can start opening up again soon.

I agree some what but still with some restrictions in place.

All businesses, pubs, restaurants etc. to have hand sanatizer on entrance and exit. Regularly clean door handles.

With pubs/restraunts/businesses limit the amount of the people in depending on size.

People who can work from home should continue working from home.

Sport is still non essential but everyone to be tested before a match if one is to go ahead.

How is everyone managing with family members who won’t stay the f away from parent’s houses?

I’m stressed up to my eyeballs with 2 siblings who just don’t get it. Traipsing in and out, not washing hands etc and my mother who thinks it’s fine and won’t keep a safe distance 😑

Even in wartime US Presidential elections went ahead as scheduled.

Oh I agree it will was just my conspiratorial mind appearing. Don't worry it does not appear too often but I would not put it past Trump Guliani, Sessions etc to try and find something

No, I don't mind at all, Tipperary.

In fact, I don't think secrecy has any place in any of this. We are where we are. That's it and the truth will always out. That has always been my experience.

Getting it out now means we are enabled to do something.
Even if it is a ton of FFP2 or 3 (N95) masks to Nursing homes - RIGHT NOW.

    They clearly need them.

    They are the first.
But nationally supply is low and demand is high. New stocks are arriving every day or so. Prioritisation of access is in place. Even private organisations didn't contingency plan regarding PPE.

Is it possible for a test to pick up if you have had the virus (ie asymptomatic case)?

The more symptoms I hear of the more I'm convinced it's like the strain of the flu that was going around just before Christmas.....only now it's worse. I'm wondering if it's that flu that might have mutated.

The Nursing home should be communicating with you. Public nationally of individual nursing home names is not required.

ICUs need them too. Supply is low but improving.

Why not?. Are you okay with hospitals getting swapped with Covid 19 cases and deaths increasing A) because of the virus and B) other diesease (such as cancers, hearth disease etc) could not get treatment. Go talk to someone who lived through a World War (hell any war) and toughen up

People who lived through world wars are in their 90s or more. It cant go on as society will break down. Actually people did continue working through the wars while everything was falling apart around them because they still wanted to live their lives.

Just found out my bus in the evening has been cancelled until further notice. So now I've to make two bus journeys home. Going to take me on average 2 hours to get home now each night. I asked my boss could I maybe get off an hour earlier each day and I'll work my lunch and try to get in even earlier than usual. I was told no. Even though most of the people in my office are now working from home. I feel like just quitting. Having a family member with an underlying condition too is just adding to my stress. Don't know what to do next. Wouldn't mind but my work is also non essential. Maybe I should just go to the doctor and see if I can get off with work related stress or something. It stands against everything I do though. You see people's true colours at times like this

Head up. Fair play to you. You and your family are more valuable than that. Your concerns are correct and valid.

This is a reflection on your boss. Absolutely shocking management from them.

I think you should hold your ground but understand its not as simple as that. Good luck.

I think that would be a blood test to test for COVID antibodies. Not sure if these are available yet though, someone else could confirm maybe :)

In fairness if it is found in any nursing home they should test everyone in it and tell there there next of kin if not that be illegal no. So I say if you have not heard from where your loved one is you should be ok. I know I am been too trusting here

The coronavirus challenge which encourages people to cough or spit on other people, has led to investigations and arrests in Ireland in recent days as the country continues to grapple with the contagious Covid19 outbreak

True perhaps I tried wearing gloves at work yesterday. Not sure how much use it was though the only thing I would say it did achieve was that I didn't touch my face as often as usual. Not sure how much protection it offered.

Wartime isn’t the same as a contagious disease where the act of campaigning or voting risks losing the war you’re fighting

You know what I meant by that Nialllo FFS. I mean they had to face hardships and restrictions. Like we have to now We should treat this pandemic like a war on our lives
