Then why was china and italy and that santizing everything? every road every footpath they knew this virus was on everything, everything was deep cleaned.

Hopefully the stronger Sun going into the Summer will do that for free

I know we are being told to stay in unless absolutely necessary to fight this.

Can someone explain what the risks are, say, for just going for a quick stroll round the block and avoiding people, surely that is not 'risky'?

    No attacks please!

That should be fine, as long as you a) avoid touching public surfaces as much as possible, b) avoid touching your face while outside (wearing a mask helps with this) and c) wash your hands and, purely opinion, disinfect the soles of your shoes, as soon as you get back.

Some sportspeople with obviously highly developed cardiovascular systems have suffered from the virus, but I still believe (and I am in no way a medical doctor, so take this with a huge handful of salt) that basic daily exercise does someone good, virus or not.

Weren't we supposed to be up to 3046 cases today according to projections? That was assuming a 30% increase per day. I'm clutching at straws here I know.

Going by the rest of the world we're supposed to double our cases every 4-6 days. How that doubling plays out in our day to day figures is anyone's guess.

Getting excerise and staying healthy is very important and nobody is suggesting you do not get out and walk or run. When out however you do so carefully and do not put yourself or others in danger.

Not a hope of stopping this unless we ground every single commercial flight in and out of Ireland for the next month as a start.

Otherwise we could face a year long lockdown.

I’d say the 10 today was from a care home cluster. Still find it strange that the number of deaths per diagnosed cases here is so low compared to NI and other countries..

Thats whats needed. But we cant do it.

That's easy to say but then there be a backlog in the results and you just can't open up a lab just like that. We still need to priorities those so that why we have the guidelines everyone should follow

I'd really like to know the answer to this. Why are some countries disinfecting roads? I understand handrails, postboxes, things on streets people touch, but roads? Dubai is currently under a strict curfew until 8am Sunday while the roads are being disinfected.

    Two weeks after we start.

I don't really foresee us starting it until complete lock down. So awhile yet
The kicker is L, Ireland of all places in Europe has so many advantages to fight this; chief among them our low population and low population density and lack of high density living spaces with shared areas and surfaces even within our cities. IMHO it's what has being protecting us thus far. Forget about flattening the curve, we could nail this bastard fcuking virus hard, if we did so en masse, together and consistently.

Not a hope of stopping it ever. Slowing it is the best we can do.

    Why a year?

Ah look, it did nobody any harm in fairness. It’s a nice touch (and generally I cringe at things like it too, but this situation is different). Probably if you had family members/friends in healthcare you’d appreciate it.

9 deaths in the east, 1 in the south.

The rehab elderly care hospital that had many infected positive cases was in the South at least that is what I remember reading so was another in the East?

Increased lung capacity being the reason.

Obviously don't light up a big cigar when you get home from your run.

Just don’t. It’s selfish and unnecessary. If everyone has the same idea as you, then you have a crowd.

    Give over will you.

Easy enough to go for a walk in this country and say at least 2 metres away from somebody.

I go to a forest and if the path is narrow and someone is approaching I move way in to the side to let them pass.

My old man is in a nursing home off-site but part of St. James Hospital. I rang today and the nurse told me there are 2 cases in the home. Wasn't very forthcoming with any info really.

I read press from several Countries.
Came across a case in Belgium of a guy spreading saliva on a rail on the Tube, and a case in Italy of a guy spitting on fruit/veg in a supermarket.
Ireland is the only Country in which I have read of people spitting and coughing on other people.
It's happened here (Germany) as well. I'd say it's happened everywhere sadly.

    Hows that?

The human body averages around 37.5degrees does it be hotter than that here in the summer months?

Or would the uv rays be the killer?

Are you definite about that with information to back it up? Otherwise it's purely speculative scaremongering.

It's reality, the 15 thousand Leo spoke about was an increase of 30% a day thankfully we are keeping below that each day and still had 1p deaths today,a Rise in deaths and ICU numbers is inevitable,

time to stop all non essential work now I think

Too many cases in Dublin now & ICU's (49)

Hopefully stores can start delivering groceries for people

Rest in peace to all those who passed away and condolences to the families.

There is no if buts or maybes, we need to close the border now for all but freight. Why was Coveney encouraging Irish people abroad to get back by last Thursday and then extending it to Saturday and now nearing the end of the following week nothing has been done. This is a ****ing wake up call, we need the border closed and a stricter quarantine. Sure they were forecasting a ramp up but that fell on deaf ears for some, this is the wake up call and everyone needs to stay indoors unless it's absolutely necessary

I'd presume there's some other underlying reason, don't know what though....?

I read last week that it could be body mass, men are heavier than women and struggle to fight the infection ( being obese is one of the pre-conditions).

I think we should be told the location of the clusters at least

I don't because it doesn't achieve anything - I think I asked you yesterday and didn't see a reply - would you act differently if you knew there was a cluster 1km away.

If the answer is yes, then your not acting properly at the moment.
