Anyone else get tested last week and still waiting on results?! Slowly cracking up and everyone is getting anxious about my results not being here yet :( slowly starting to improve - temp coming down, headache not as much and just exhausted now.

I'd say I have about 10 people a day texting me asking about my results. Going demented waiting

One week out of the office now. Colleague was reporting to be feeling warm & coughed very frequently in our shared office.

Both partner & I now feeling a headache coming on, tiredness and I have a tender throat now.

I can't afford to get sick! I have people depending on me to drop shopping & supplies to them.

I would advise against visiting anyone if you're having any symptoms. There are lots of organisations helping people

Thanks. Out of caution, we haven't visited properly for over four weeks thankfully. Haven't spent any times indoors with them, 2m plus at all times, shopping dropped at the back door and they steralise it before it comes in. Fingers crossed things improve tomorrow!

It might just be stress too.

Myself and my husband were tested yday . It’s been 13 days for me since the onset of my symptoms (blocked nose , loss of smell and taste weakened , sore throat that came in waves throughout the day .
Husband has a tickly dry cough that’s not there all the time , blocked nose , smell and taste a bit altered aswell.
He’s on day 16 of first onset of symptoms . Both of us have been in self isolation since then..

I’ve a baby due in the next two weeks so anxious to get my results before then as if I don’t have it but awaiting results the labour is massively different and baby will be in isolation as will I .
I’m confused as to the whole 14 day isolation rule they give - so tomorrow it’s up for me and already up for my husband so does that mean we’re good to not be in it even though results aren’t back ? We are both fine again.

Or if we get the results and they’re positive do we begin another 14 day self isolation 😷 it confuses me !

Despite being tested this morning i get a text telling me i won't be tested. I'm genuinely speechless. Not blaming anyone as no one has had any preparation for something so unprecedented but its typically irish.

Everyone is under a lot of pressure!
    Make some allowances.
You were fortunate enough to be tested,be happy with that.

I hear ya! I have very similar symptoms to you, on day 9 now. The chest tightness and breathlessness progressed to lung-burning feelings >>> on to two days of chills and sweats >>>>> now on to four days of fatigue still with chest pain and breathlessness. Starting to feel heat abc “pleuritic” pain in my upper back today (I had mild viral pleurisy last year for first time so remember what if feels like). Doc gave me script for antibiotics when he referred me so I started to take that early this week as a preemptive.

I got tested yesterday but I am fairly sure that this is CV. What are the chances that a load of us get strange respiratory virus in the middle of a global pandemic of a new respiratory virus and it’s not it? And I place emphasis on strange. I’m 40 and have never experienced an illness quite like this before.

In the UK they are not testing and giving presumptive clinical diagnosis based on symptoms...

I’ve read that the test has only 75-80% accuracy though and false negs are possible. In the end the main thing about the test result for me is the confirmation and will allow me to offer my services to help in the community (shopping etc) afterwards. Our family are treating this situation as if I have it anyway...

Main thing I think is rest. But your doc might prescribe an antibiotic for chest infection over the phone at the moment?

I’m ringing Gp tomorrow. I’m nearly 2 weeks in and it comes in waves ( almost the same time each day) a weird spasming and burning feeling in chest. Lasted for 45 mins today. Basically have to lie there and hope It doesn’t go to another level. once it’s over I’m usually fatigued but things go somewhat back to normal.

    More likely a technology glitch.

Why would you even be annoyed by this? It was clearly an error. I got the same text but my test was actually cancelled. Be thankful you even got one.

    Hi all,

I tested positive for COVID-19. HSE called me last night at roughly around 8PM. Contact tracing called me this morning - that didn't take long as I have been self-isolating since I was referred for testing, so it was my partner and daughter who I have had any contact with.

For people concerned or anxious regarding testing, symptoms, referral and positive diagnosis, I will add my experience for reference.

Over the weekend before last (Sat 14th) my toddler daughter had really high temperature (which hit 39.9 at one point) and was quite lethargic, whiny, etc. Alternating between Calpol and Nurofen brought her temperature down temporarily over the weekend. Early Monday (16th) her temperature dropped to 34. We contacted our GP and were advised to keep an eye on the temperature, any additional symptoms and contact them if we were concerned any further. As Monday went on, her temperature went back to normal and she was fine, has been since.

On the 17th, I got aches, pains and chills, went to bed for a nap after taking paracetamol and woke up fine, but that night the symptoms came back. I went to bed and woke up the next morning (18th) with that virus, metallic type taste in my mouth, tired, still sore, drenched with sweat and a temperature. Contacted the GP who then phoned me asking a series of questions and referred me for a test.

Later that day, I started to experience a shortness of breath and tightness on my chest. I had asthma as a child and have always kept inhalers, but have had no experience of an attack in well over 15 years, but I recognised the feeling as being like a mild asthma attack. I took the inhaler and left a humidifer on. Similar symptoms on Thurs (19th) along with a pressure headache, a wet, not runny, nose.

I was tested in Croke Park on Sat (21st) AM and the test went like clockwork. It's very surreal and I've had better days in Croke Park, but it has to be done. Considering the scale of the operation, the stress involved for staff (taking into consideration the staff there have their own concerns for their well-being, as well as their loved ones) and the public stress levels and concerns, I found the whole experience to be exceptionally efficient and the staff were great - in response to a previous poster, I view this as being "typically Irish".

My symptoms continued over the weekend, until Sunday, when they began to alleviate slightly. On Sunday evening I noticed my sense of smell had diminished considerably.

My breathing has eased, tightness in the chest has loosened, not as fatigued, but I have still been getting headaches and my sense of smell is still off. I never had a consistent dry cough at any point.

As mentioned, I got the call last night and this morning from the HSE teams - all HSE reps were helpful, informative and doing a brilliant job in unprecedented times.

I've stayed at home since I contacted my GP first and am continuing to do so. At home I'm trying to distance myself as much as possible, sleeping in another room, wiping down anything I touch, along with washing my hands regularly.

It might not do anything, but I have been loading up on vitamins, drinking lots of water, keeping the humidifer on at night and trying to get a good night's rest, as well as sleeping when I can during the day.

That's pretty much my experience so far. If I can help anyone with any questions, feel free to ask or PM me and I'll get back when I can. I have to stress, this was my experience, others may have additional symptoms or much more severe symptoms.

Overall, I seem to have mild symptoms and have been fortunate so far. That said, I'm very glad I applied the advised social-distancing recommendations, as it made the contact tracing much easier, so if you have symptoms and waiting on a test or results, from my experience, I would definitely recommend staying put and limiting your contact as much as possible.

I was very much so freaked out and still am to an extent, but I have adopted a phrase attributed to the great Seamus Heaney as a mantra to try keep my head when I get anxious or worried:

"If we can winter this one out, we can summer anywhere".

Hope everyone else is keeping well!

Pete Moss thank you for sharing that. My timeline is similar to yours I was also tested on the 21st. I hope you're doing well now

I am waiting on the results of my test (tested last Friday). My symptoms were mild enough with only the chest tightness and the cough along with the exhaustion. I have been isolating with my wife and 3 kids for almost two weeks now and I was starting to think we were nearly finished with the isolation. That was until today and my 6 year old Son developing a high temperature, aches and a sore throat. He said he was freezing and had a jacket on in the house, we checked his temperature and it was 40.2 deg C earlier, we rang the doctor and they advised to give him Nurofen which we did, this seemed to do the trick and his temperature has come back down to 37.5 deg C.

It's looking likely that I did have this virus, but what has spooked me is how differently it affects us all. We are all healthy thankfully, but i dread to think if he had some mild condition just what it would do to him.

Do symptoms keep getting worse or stay the same throughout or can you feel better one day then be in reverse the next? My 70 year old mum with moderate underlying health conditions has had something since Tuesday - stomach bug and vomiting with shivering and infrequent cough with phlegm Tuesday didn't want to leave her bed, then improvement yesterday and big improvement today almost back to normal. Also given her age if it was Corona then even at the beginning her immune system wouldn't be coping that well would it?

I haven't gotten my results yet, so I have no idea what i actually had or if it was actually covid 19, but no two days were the same for me. I started getting sick on Saturday the 14th. Paddy's day was the worst for me. The dry cough wasnt too bad. Temperature went up and down over the few days. The headaches killed me and lasted ages. Shortness of breath, I still can't walk up the stairs or change my 2 year olds nappy with being out of breath. And not to mention the absolute exhaustion. But this Monday I felt alright again and on Tuesday I felt ****e again. Have been alright since.

I hope your mother is ok.

Just curious for those who got negative results did you have a number of symptoms that fit with the virus and with those who tested pos?

I’m just curious whether there’s another weird respiratory virus doing the rounds at the moment as I’ve never experienced anything like the illness I’m going through at the moment...

    Thanks

Interesting you are talking about it causing a recurrence of your asthma
Pete Moss. Is asthma a common effect with Covid?

I've never been diagnosed with asthma before this but have a chest infection that has caused it now. Learning how to use an inhaler at 42.

I'm self isolating and won't be tested due to the restrictions now as I never had a temperature.

I got referred for a test Monday of last week 16th. Got a text on 23rd saying you are in a queue, sorry your waiting. Then get a text today saying test cancelled. I had a temperature and cough which are now gone so who knows if i infected anyone when symptoms were starting if I actually had it.

Have you been diagnosed with asthma? My symptoms feel like I imagine asthma feels like. Between them coming back with a vengeance today after easing yesterday and my test being cancelled I feel seriously down about it. And worried about how long it will take for my breathing to return to normal or if it will.

Yes, doctor diagnosed it yesterday. Looks like my chest infection has gone but I'm left with asthma. I have no idea as well about when I will be breathing normally! A relief in one sense that I'm sure whatever caused the infection is gone.

Never diagnosed before but think I had it as a kid as I would be puffing playing sports and had that same burning/tightness I have now but that would stop within a minute or two. Just thought it was me not being fit but thinking back must have been asthma.

Maybe talk to you doctor about it. Inhaler is helping me.

I'm hugely confused, I was in contact with my father a few weeks ago, who tested positive yesterday, has had the symptoms 2 weeks now, only starting to recover, and the contact tracing didnt want information from him about me, despite my wife showing symptoms (she is now due to be tested too). He was in a number of hospitals due to another ailment so that is quite more worrying, but still.
