    https://www.breakingnews.ie/business/james-dyson-unveils-design-for-coronavirus-ventilator-990206.html

Billionaire entrepreneur James Dyson has said “the race is on” to get a new ventilator created specifically for the coronavirus pandemic into production.

In an email to staff, the inventor said his eponymous company had designed the “CoVent” at the request of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and promised to donate 5,000 to the international relief effort.

Mr Dyson said teams of engineers had been working solidly on the design since receiving the call from Mr Johnson 10 days ago.

The company is now waiting for the design to receive regulatory approval so manufacturing can commence.

Created in partnership with Cambridge-based science engineering firm TTP, the new ventilator had to be safe, effective, efficient in conserving oxygen and portable, Mr Dyson said.

It also had to be bed mounted, easy to use and not require a fixed air supply.

The battery-powered machine has been designed for use in different settings including field hospitals and when patients are being transported......

Just listening to Morning Ireland and they were saying they are at present only doing 40 tests a day in Northern Ireland! Test numbers to be increased next week. Expert (Dr Ultan Power) reckons there are likely to be approx 5,000 cases in NI.

In that case, I'm terrified to know how many are in ROI

    Just got call from Supervalue.

Waiting 2 weeks for a delivery of food.

Got told they can't make the delivery. Only 2 people in today.

I said, "what am I supposed to do the fridge is empty"

Sorry I'm just making the call.

    Good luck everyone.

    Had this yesterday from Tesco.

COVID19 is NO LONGER treated as a highly infectious disease.

But you won't hear the presstitudes mention this.

According to Dear Leader it will be sorted by Easter and its going to be a beautiful thing.

Trump has been awful with this no doubt about it. But I doubt Obama would have been able to do much better. He'd put a much better spin, and ooze sincerity and solemness. But the virus doesn't care either way. It's how the people react.

We've been testing a lot more, we should be over 20000 by now. There probably are more than they'll ever find but they've also been pushing that self-isolate advice since the first cases.

    Heard that

Out of 1.5 million? That's tiny given what's been going on for the last 2 weeks
    Surely its 10s of 1000's
Otherwise when we are in the shops freaking out in the better behaved south, theres probably little or no virus there at all

    Rte reported on that yesterday.

They follow the UK here in that only people in hospital settings get tested.

They dont test like we do

What the actual fcuk is wrong with some people?! Coughing into a random persons face and recording their reaction?!!

I will literally leave someone brain damaged and bleeding out their ears if they try that with me.

I'm having my first bad day with this psychologically. The stories of overwhelmed nurses and people dying alone, along with the fear of what will happen if we don't flatten the curve here is getting to be a lot.

Plenty of way to get supplies in, you can contact local community groups, there is volunteer groups nearly everywhere. Sports clubs also offering this alot, gaa clubs seem to be quite active.
Also your local garda station have officers engaging with the community for issues like this, they'll also bring critical supplies.

    Full churches over Easter.

i've seen footage from one American mega-church, where the pastor is literally saying "Jesus will protect you".

Looks like Easter will be ground zero for another mass pandemic outbreak in America, on New York City levels.

Absolutely, the polls suggest that large percentages of people (Trump voters) still believe this isn't as bad as it seems.

So when Trump dribbles out nonsense large swathes of people believe him, which means large amounts of people will get sick and die.

    He is a dangerous dotard.

I did that yesterday and I did have a good day, but there's only so long I can ignore reality for.

I think it's the lack of human interaction that's getting to me. I see my housemate for about two hours in the evening in between him coming from work and going to bed and otherwise not a soul in about 8 days now.

Lots of whatsapp messages etc, but it's not the same.

Are you doing video calls with people? Finding that is both enjoyable and necessary all round.

Apparently A&E in hospitals are very quiet, people have not stopped having strokes, heart attacks, cellulitis, accidents and the like so where have they all gone?

Out for the first time in 15 days. Left the house at 620 in my surgical mask and gloves. No sun just fog but 30 mins in my anxiety has calmed down and barely anyone in the park.

Anyone on tips on sleep? I didn't sleep at all last night my pattern is fkd:(

Hope all well stay safe lads.

I'm managing my sleep patterns by going to bed at the same time as I normally do and by getting up at the same time as I normally do. So if I get up at 6am to go to work, that's the time that I get up now. The trick is to stay busy by doing stuff and tiring myself out so that I am looking forward to bed at night.
