Yes I understand there are individual cases, I never said there wasnt. My point is that it's very rare for young people to die, you cannot dispute these facts.

I wasn't, I was replying to some joker who asked where are these 20 year olds who have died.

This requires mandatory sentencing in my opinion.

Vermin is too kind a word.

Any pre-meditated crimes or crimes against the person committed at this time of emergency should be sentenced at the upper range of the appropriate tariff.

Irish people not being touchy feely and generally weird about hand holding and kissing is actually going to prove vital.

    LOL! Let's hope.

    She's adding nothing constructive.

    And you are?

They are being used on a not-for-profit basis for the duration of the pandemic

That doesn't mean the state aren't paying them...
While there is consensus around the State’s public-health led approach to the pandemic and expectation that the deal would be concluded, several items remained to be finalised, including the exact nature of the financial agreement between the hospitals and the State, which will be done on a not-for-profit basis, but will still be a significant sum.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/ireland/irish-news/private-hospitals-in-state-to-cater-for-covid-19-cases-only-as-pandemic-spreads-1.4211349

The state will be paying for the use of the hospitals, but I'm happier that we have them than not having them

Does that count for the suppliers too? i.e great if the hospital is charging cost price but bad if the same person who owns the hospital also owns the company supplying goods and services to the hospital and elastic bands cost 20 euro.

technically operated at cost price but would cost a lot more than a public bed.

    Oh they do.

Its people clogging up the A and E during the flu season that means they are stretched.

As today showed, 12 people waiting on trolleys, record low.

The HSE could deal with the flu season easily if idiots didn't go to A and E and waste everyones time.

So the annual flu crisis isn't real. It's just idiots turning up .

Some local NI journalist said Covid-19 was far scarier than the troubles and would surpass it.

    Troubles - 3,600+
    Coronavirus - 7

Maybe it will but I still thought that was a bizarre statement to make.

Worst case scenario projection for NI is 15,000 deaths, so yeah it would be worse than the Troubles.

However that is based on there being no measures put in place.

Will likely be a lot lot less than that.

Harris mentioned it in his update today, and as far as I can recall it wasn't teenagers, a man and woman were mentioned, they ran away laughing. He has crohns, so particularly unfunny.

Two arrested apparently with regards to coughing on people, one was on a guard. Clever lad. Not sure on details surrounding the second.

All the hospitals still have entire wards empty and cleared out.

Seeing drive through testing sites in action.

Now the community hospitals, district hospitals and rehab units are being emptied and prepared to be staffed as designated covid19 convalesence hospitals.

That's only a fraction of the things happening.

Lots of work still going on in the background within the HSE. Still big preparations. Have to say the response is something I never expected to see from the HSE and current government.

Thanks to the current measures and social distancing measures I'm sure it's slowed down the infection rate drastically. The numbers and strain on the health service are still going to go up and I expect in a months time thigns will be worse but I'm so glad we didn't end up like Italy, Spain, or the US due to the lack of action.

    Of corse it's real.

But it could be treated easy if people didn't clog up the A and E and leave old people with the flu waiting on a bed.

I would think it's more a factor of time lag combined with public interventions?

Or not. I don't know. Just hoping we don't follow the European curve.

I dont know id like to hope so but think because were so much connected to europe that we will get it too the next 2weeks will say so much for us

Europe as a whole is more concerned with being civil than containing Covid-19, all the Epicentres in Europe from Dublin, to London, to Madrid, to Paris, to Berlin are open for anyone to come and go as they please, not contained like Wuhan was. To fight this virus you need to break rules and laws. Every road out of Dublin should be block, no one leaves, contain it and deal with it. Dragging down the rest of the country is silly.

So 88% of people have fever but 12% don't so they will be taking those 12% out of the testing criteria. Fair enough if they don't have the capacity but they will be missing cases. Claire Byrne for example had no fever, so she wouldn't be tested now.

They wouldn't be tested but they should still self isolate. Equally, without a fever, they're not likely to need hospitalisation.

    Of corse it's real.

But it could be treated easy of people didn't clod up the A and E and leave old people with the flu waiting on a bed.

The reason a and e gets clogged up is that beds farther up arent being emptied, due to people waiting on tests/results etc, cant be left out for weekemd etc or wont get a bed again

This is being relieved by large scale cancellation of elective surgery and cancer treatments at the min(private hospiteals are to take on most pressing of these)

Its moronic, simplistic, misleading nonsense being pedelled that a and e are being clogged up by bedblockers/people shouldnt be there
