Posts like this make it difficult for me though.

So Charles has it but his wife tested negative. A little odd that.

the virus seems more dangerous & easy to contract for males

    Better than his.

You are posting quotes from "Dr. X" when it turns out that "Dr. X" is a failed, and fired, ex-lecturer in communications from some nondescript "university" in Belgium that nobody has ever heard of.

    "Dr." me hole

Yep as I suspected. Shoot the messenger when you do not like the message.
Sorry bud, but you cant wish the facts away. They will still remain facts.

How is it 'creative accounting'? The real important figure is how many we're testing per population, which I believe is relatively high (compared to other European countries) for the stage that we're currently at.

If you don't test efficiently and get results quickly. You don't know what stage you are at?
Therefore you can't say it's relatively high for the stage we are at.

So far the UK have tested over 90K people and plan on ramping up to hundreds of thousands a day.
Do we we know how many tests have been done hereto in Ireland?

We had done 18k tests as of midnight last. As of a day or 2 ago if they'd hit 90k tests then they have done 5x more tests than us but have a population of over 10x ours.

So we are testing more than the UK by a margin when you adjust for our population.

But, but you need to be really sick in hospital in the UK to be tested.

Apparently not. Prince Charles (and Camila) were both tested on the NHS under the standard testing regime, no queue jumping or special treatment at all, honest guv'.

GP called me this morning and said despite meeting criteria before i'm not priority now so won't be tested. I don't mind that too much as I know there's more high risk people than me out there. However, she said it's highly likely i have some form of respiratory tract infection but there's nothing really she can do for it, just continue to self-isolate. Fair enough, but I would've thought GP's could still prescribe antibiotics or are they afraid if it is COVID that i have that antibiotics would have adverse effects?

I concur, if she is diagnosing a respiratory tract infection then i think the normal treatment is antiboitics, not just let the infection fester until you present at A&E.
Sounds like you got the fob-off.

G'way there with your "facts" :pac:

I think we have different definitions of the word.

The facts are he is a failed ex-lecturer in communications. Maybe he could give some bad introductory lessons into how to use twitter or facebook?
On coronavirus, I'm probably not going to put a lot of weight onto his ramblings. You can if you want.

Most Royals would have separate sleeping quarters only joining up for some fun.

To be honest as bad as it sounds it might be a good thing the likes of Prince Charles has it

I think it would really make it hit home to a lot there tbh

I remember last week he was still shaking hands with everyone.
His personal medical staff will probably invent treatment for the coronavirus if he gets it bad. Maybe its a good thing that he got it.

Also, this is not the time for politics or sacking ministers etc, just need to do the work to protect people.
It is a time for getting rid of people who are not up to the job. You need somebody ruthless in charge who will stop at nothing to improve testing etc.
Like Michael O'Leary would be my choice to lead us through this. Obviously he can't because he is not an elected official but it's the closest you can get to him is what we need.

I don't get this line of thinking at all. In their own words they are just following advice from WHO and the CMO. What exactly has he done to "lead" on this?

Either way their policies implemented how this goes for Ireland. I feel closing schools as early as they did was a good move however I feel the non restricted travel and lack of screening at airports will come back to bite us in a few weeks.

They are following guidelines but they have to manage how those guidelines are implemented.

Personally I have little trust with the HSE overall how it is managed but I’m hoping for everyone’s sake we have gotten this right and trying to stay positive:)

Why is Simon Harris still in a job??

3 weeks ago he told us all that we were not at risk of the Pandemic that we now have.

Yet he is still in his job, that We are paying for!

Call for him to be replaced!!!

And how exactly would we do that then? We're "stuck" with all of them until a new government is formed.

This nonsense always rears it head. MOL is a successful airline executive. He is not the man for this job. Just because he is brash & "ruthless" is not reason enough to suggest he would solve everything.

Donald Trump is another example of a ruthless, brash billionaire. Maybe we could get him on board too?

From Guardian feed @08:36. Not sure I'd fancy this being announced here myself!
French government scientific advisers have recommended a total of six weeks’ lockdown, a suggestion president Emmanuel Macron and his ministers are considering but seem reluctant to announce at this moment, Kim Willsher, the Guardian’s Paris correspondent, reports.

Meanwhile here's more on that Dutch situation.

I would disagree. Firstly I'd listen to the doc. Secondly and this is not medical advice. If you do indeed have Covid and were prescribed antibiotics it could in theory exasperate the situation. Antiobiotics kill bacterial infections. We have plenty of "good" bacteria in our system which would also take a hit.
You don't want depleted resources in fighting this infection just when your body needs them most.

You can go downhill quite quickly with this infection so be very careful. If you have a pulse oximeter, use that to monitor how much oxygen your body is getting. If you start to see a change at least you can report to a doctor.

Only a matter of time until a high profile celebrity or personality does from the virus. Young or old. I think only then will some people realise the severity of the pandemic will hit some people that ANYONE can contract it and ANYONE can die from it.

??? I feel like O'Leary would still care more about flights than testing.

I am not sure Harris has stopped at anything to get more testing. As has been mentioned we seem to be doing pretty good per capital in terms of testing.

Someone mentioned a quote from Harris about Ireland not getting a pandemic but I can't find that and seems to be a random claim. All I can find is his this is serious but don't panic advice which still seems to hold.

    Michael O'Leary reallY?

Sanitsers. 2 euro per litre. Oh you want a bottle for it, that wil be €40.

Testing: €40 per person. Result sent by text for €20.

Call centre set up in Department of health for premium rates.

I jest. O'Leary is talented but has no experience in dealing with health, medicine, HSE, etc.

Testing will improve but it can't be done instantly like so many expect.

so many people saying they have no fever yet testing positive, can't understand these new test criteria, sure tighten it but chest issues seem to be key not just the fever...

currently the space station has zero cases

    just goes to show

but its a virus, unless you exist in a bubble you could get it

Someone super rich on a private island where they can self isolate is far less likely to get it than someone working in an A&E

It's been well over two weeks since the Italy lockdown..how the hell are thousands per day still being confirmed if they're on severe lockdown procedures?

Even if some people are breaking rules, it's surely just a miniscule amount as 99% of people there are surely decent human beings and the police/army would be putting a stop to anyone they seeing acting the bollocks.
