No I wouldn’t agree to anything before seeing what the consequences might be. We aren’t Germany or USA , these countries have a far greater ability to influence and recover then we do.

It’s the same sort of idea as using the Apple money. Sounds like a good idea but once you break normal protocols you can’t control how that might play out or the direct or indirect issues that arise.

Whats the difference between a private hospital and a private factory?? They've already taken over private hospitals.

They don't have to take over anything.

Ban exports for 3 weeks like Germany did.

I can't really see how people have a problem with it, because of some vague consequence.

The consequences of not having enough PPE is real and dire.

You don’t see the difference between a private hospital or private beds for Irish people versus a private company with orders from abroad? Seriously?

Would you ever fk off with your hypochondriac ****e. What evidence do you have of that?

They are overstretched and have to prioritise, you are taking a leap saying hypochondriacs are clogging up the system.

You're awfully sensitive. Just have a look through this thread, you've people who think they had this back at the tail end of last year.

    Yeah they wouldn't be.

    That's just nonsense.

No, I think you shouldn’t demand things without understanding the consequences. Who are we relying on for important goods or supplies that may be effected by us commandeering these supplies?

I have a gripe with the main national newspapers charging to view online content related to the corona virus. The New York Times made all their corona virus stories free weeks ago.

There are two stories that appeared in my Facebook time line this morning that seemed important and I wanted to read them but they were behind a pay wall. Seems a little but wrong to me.

Is it possible their superiors are rationing it as much as possible.

I know that’s what I have done in every job I have done if I now I am going to hit a brick wall.

It’s a good to not tell the frontline staff that you have loads of stock as they will then treat it like there no end to it.

Maybe so. Why are so many of our confirmed cases Health care workers?

I just can't understand why you haven't been headhunted to run this whole thing. Surely a genius such as yourself would have the whole thing sorted in weeks. The HSE clearly needs someone that can type in bold and increased font size.

:D Attack the post not the poster. What are rules on bold font sorry if I've upset you.

Luckily we have an open internet. CCP did a good job suppressing information. It seems that slick press conferences , men in suits , and vague stats seem to give you comfort to not question anything.

Do you think we have enough PPE for front line staff?

    Build up our own reserves.

We have one company in Limerick churning out 2 millions masks a week who are exporting to Europe and the USA.

While we are struggling to get them in from China.

It's not a mental concept, they can still do it but they supply the Irish market first.

How is this happening? I would think these countries would have forced quarantine on arrivals. I don't know how they are importing cases.

Are they an Irish company? Because if not, they won't be in Limerick for very long if we do as you suggest.

That's not the point i'm making. We're doing non essential work when we shouldn't be travelling for one. And two we could be redeployed to something more productive at this time.

You're only taking the angle you did to have a cut at me. Your earlier big list of whinges was judgemental BS. Know it all. You think you're better than everyone. The 'gombeens' as you call them.

You’re the one that’s whinging. If you don’t want to work say it to your supervisor instead of bitching and moaning that you are in work but in your opinion shouldn’t be.
As for the rest of the post i don’t think I’m better than anyone else.all I do know is I wasn’t one of the sheep queuing for a toilet roll or a Big Mac.

I don't understand why the HSE would be short of PPE.
There has only been a run on that stuff very recently.

Shouldn't we have had an adequate stock in advance of a pandemic?
    Do we have pandemic modeling/forecasting?

Just 1,329 cases and the HSE are out of stock?

Imagine what it will look like when there are 13290 cases.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,957 ✭✭✭Blueshoe

They just can't physically cope with the numbers who are looking for testing. Changing the protocol is the only way. Positive cases are inevitably going to slip through. Can't be helped.
The hse can only do so much
It's up to individuals to keep away from others and self isolate if they feel unwell.

Our health service just isnt that good to start with and this is making it worse. It couldn't even manage the tests which were the key part of the "South Korea model" we were meant to be following. But our health service couldn't manage that let alone a "surge" in actual cases.

There's also a rule about backseat modding. If you have a problem with any of my posts, report them.

I don't know if we have enough PPE, but I do know that efforts to ensure that we do have enough equipment for this crisis have been on-going for weeks and months. Way before you even started posting in these threads.

It's going to make a huge difference to the folks trying to isolate from others, in a very confined space. Having people isolate for weeks on end, in cramped spaces is seriously detrimental to mental health and shouldn't be done if it isn't absolute necessary. Think of one parent stuck in a room for weeks trying to avoid passing to others, when they may not even have it, but can't get tested.

Yeah this is a big problem. It people don’t get confirmation they actually have it they will become too frustrated to isolate themselves properly. Some will do as they are meant to but others might nip out for a walk or drive when it’s quiet when they are not meant to leave the house at all.

At this stage some people may not even bother ringing to get the test as they’ll be told to stay inside for two weeks but not get confirmation. It is challenging for some people to do this particularly if they’ve no support to help out with things they need. So testing is important from this point of view

    Statistically, they are more likely.

If I only have to consider my movements and my actions day to day in an environment where I could be, I am at a low risk of making a mistake once or twice with touching my face and or touching something without gloves etc etc.

I can make a few mistakes and be ok.

A health care worker can be super careful and heed correct procedure 99% of the time, then that one time they take their eye off the ball they can be infected.
