The U.K. lockdown is stricter than the Irish Lockdown.

U.k says you shouldn't see family outside those who you live with. Irish government says you can as long as its a meeting with a group of no more than 4 people.

U.K. has asked churches to close, Leo says you can still go to places of worship.

U.k. says you will be fined if you don't stay at home and go out for non essential travel. Ireland doesn't mention enforcement.

I’m confused by the message today. Are we allowed go for walks and jogging?

    Yes.

I find the advice kind of half arsed...

Kind of saying it and not saying it...

Britain are saying no family visits. We’re saying yes, but!!!!!!!

They're going to have to invoke powers to stand him down. He's a nutter. More worried about his rich mates and the stock market than anyone else. Hopefully he gets a dose that knocks the sh1t out of him.

people need to stop with this 30% thing. it's utterly meaningless.

    Italy hasn't had a 30% increase since March 1.

Yes indeed - this is not prohibited (recommended that you try and keep such walks down in number though).

Only it’s the figure we were given by our government in terms of projections

Projections we are currently way below

Was there any update on the ages of the two people who passed yesterday with no underlying conditions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,786 ✭✭✭wakka12

204 new cases and 1 new death.

What percentage is that on yesterday and the projection?

    It is almost a 30% increase, 27%

I decided to watch a YouTube video of a fish market in Wuhan and that video led me to a different video about some of their eating practices there. Honest to god, it turned my stomach and left me heaving. I won't link it here nor will I describe it here because honestly there's too much doom and gloom but if anyone wants to know you can pm and I will let you know. Fcuking hell

For a time i was really getting interested in the Inuits, the native population of Greenland and Canada.
Then i watched a documentary and they showed one of their delicacies.
A load of lads hunker down behind rocks on this steep incline island with like butterfly nets on these long poles.
Flocks of these small birds cruise by and the lads pop-up and snag one or two.
They are all day at it.
They stuff them into a seal skin sack..
When the sack is full they stand on it to compress it, then stitch it up.
Then they bury it among the stones.
After a couple months they come back and bring the sack to the village.
Open it up and take turns dipping their hand in, grabbing one of the now rotting birds and proceed to eat it whole.
Narrator was like: yeah this one dinner that needs to be eaten outdoors!

    Indeed, even below 20% today.

Yesterday seems to have been a blip.....numbers shot up out of synch with previous days and today

They had the pubs open 3 nights before this “lockdown”. Massive backtracking by them.

Unfortunately that sums him up exactly. He is actually evil. Thats just as accurately descriptive a word there is for him, not a dig, a fact, he’s an evil prïck in charge, of the largest and most influential democracy on earth.

34 in icu up to the day before yesterday:(

Not good, Wont be long before these come under pressure. But could be far worse at this stage, every day that it can be kept pushed back the better..

    18% increase.

It's big enough. Just because we're well below the 30% doesn't mean a whole lot. That was an overestimate. But we're still doubling every 5days or so and 34 in ICU.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,029 ✭✭✭xabi

ICU and deaths are the numbers I look for, confirmed cases is tied to the number of tests

No, you're calculating on the daily rate, rather than the total rate, which is 18%.

Is it possible to report people that are not self isolating even though they got tested and haven't got results yet?
Found out today my next door neighbour got tested yesterday, yet she was out walking around today and in the local shop and her husband has been going to work. f**kers could be infecting loads of people if she does have it.

Unlikely. We can't do stuff like that in a liberal democracy apparantly. Ring your GP, Gardai or maybe let your TD know about it. Its clowns like her who are spreading covid 19. She'll probably be in the queue panic buying tomorrow.

There was a reason the Chinese forcefully quarantined positive cases, it was to protect others from them.

Because of people like her it will take us years to resolve this.

The National Public Health Emergency Team has said almost 18,000 tests for Covid-19 have now been conducted as of midnight last night

They seem to be ramping it up all right, very encouraging.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,353 ✭✭✭Shn99

Is this including the increase in test capacity? Or do we have to wait til tomorrow to see the effect of this?

it was an absolute worst case scenario figure (if we continued business as usual) given to try and calm people in the days ahead. the danger is people get complacent thinking we are doing great. we are doing no better than most countries. maybe not even italy.
