I've had my fair share of gripes against our current government but I have to say, I feel very lucky when I look over at the USA.

As bad as we'll have it, the people over there are about to realise how little their government thinks of them.

I don't have employees though so maybe that's targeted to companies who will struggle to pay their workers?

Not sure it applies to a sole trader who's struggling but just covering bills. I can definitely show a drop over over 25% but not sure it applies.
I would check it out with them.

Non essential business close, what is non essential?

A lot of companies don't know what to do.

Ministers on the talk shows now unable to explain what to do either.

Like I said they just created a rather large communication problem. It needs to be addressed quickly.

Dont understand why a son could not walk to a chosen outdoor location and have a short conversation at 3 or 4 metres distance with their mother once or twice a week.

This is all about common sense and not strict rules. People need to cop on and stop the crap.

This is going to be our lives for 2 or 3 months we need to be set goals to be realistic and achievable.

    Just a reminder -

We're (Well , mostly Beasty to be fair!!) keeping a list of useful links/resources here

A lot of the questions that are being asked are answered in those links..

    This is what I found:
"The scheme is targeted at companies hit by the collapse of economic activity triggered by Covid-19 - and employers seeking to avail of it would have to demonstrate a reduction in income of at least 25%, along with cash flow difficulties."

I'm not an employer, though. I'm just self employed as a sole trader.

    I'm so confused...

If I was you I’d apply for it and see what happens.

I doubt there’ll be too much due diligence done on applications.

There's been quite a bit of that about, some environmentalists shamelessly doing so.

He said all non essential workers.

So does that mean all other places of business carry on?

No Idea. All I know is I'm back to work tomorrow. Nothing has changed

DART is still empty, just saw one leaving the city, normally it would be faces pressed against the window packed, there was about 8 people on a full carriage train.

No Trump banned travel from China in JANUARY.
Also the Chinese communist party surpressed vital information for 6 weeks and locked up dissenters trying to spread information. So stop the CCP propaganda ok

You stop with the Trump is great sthick and saying anyone against Trump is pro CCP.

Typical deflection when Trump is totally to blame for sitting on his hands for weeks and creating this crisis in the US.

Not sure, but they're not testing specifically for the virus. Markers that indicate its presence are what they're after.

The American people disagree. How about lord Leo letting flights from Italy to pour in for weeks after they should have stopped ? And yes you are parroting the CCP line... for shame

All has been communicated and the full details are readily available. You can't go to that level of detail in a press conference.

But you seem determined to be dissatisfied regardless of what's said or done.

We closed schools and asked people to work from home more than a week before the UK did.

Boris was still going with the herd immunity rubbish when we started closing down.

Is it a competition? Have Ireland won!?

Doesn't anybody think it's a problem that the likes of Regina Doherty, voted out by the people, is STILL acting minister?
    And doubtless costing the taxpayer.

Uk, Spain and Italy when at 1,200 cases had approx 30 deaths each.
We have approx 1,200 cases and 6 deaths.
Perhaps the lockdown has slowed the virus?

Maybe we are learning from the other countries.
I dunno, a fragile green shoot. Fingers crossed!

There is a positive from the announcement earlier when the HSE chief spoke. In the early days of this getting into Ireland the contact tracing resulted in approximately 20 contacts per diagnosis. Now it's gone down to approximately 5 contacts. It means that people are distancing themselves away from others and limiting social contacts.

That definitely is a positive right there.
