It's good they are keeping factories with 500-600 employees open tho , this should work out real well

    Four people - that's a party!
    If that's a party. What's an orgy? Asking for a friend ;)

Why should they? They haven't lost out on anything additional due to this.

On the contrary, there's less and less for them to spend it on so they're actually up compared to normal!

Ok, so are we all happy now.

No more demands for places to be shut down.

No doubt as the numbers increase in the fututre, which is guaranteed , people here will state the measures are not working, government should have banned flights in December, curfews should be imposed and army should shoot all people on the streets after 6pm unless carrying a bag of shopping.

I was let go just before this kicked in. I have very little chance of getting work in the foreseeable future. Yet someone let go now is far better off. Not very fair. Not just because it directly effects me but it's clearly not treating people the same.

It’s not about people who were on SW before the ****storm getting a pay rise.

Anyone know where to find the list of essential businesses

    Grocery shops
    Pharmacies
    Phone/BB Provision
    Pharmaceutical
    Infrastructure Upkeep
    Medical

More I'm sure, but for the everyday Joe the top two are all they will care about.

But you have just said you where not effected by the virus, You where let go before hand, People have been let go purely due to Corna (act of god) you have not been,

How is that hard to understand ?

What if you lost your job of 5 years in february for instance? You don't think financial circumstances have changed? And job prospects are just as tough?

One person is on €203 and a month later another person receives €350.

Its crazy. I get people don't want scroungers getting a rise, but being lumped in with the scroungers here is a kick in the balls.

Yeh, seems a bit unfair in that case. Maybe pay the 350 to people who are getting payments based on their PRSI contributions.

Gyms, leisure centers to shut, but churches and places of worship remain open ? Ridiculous decision, bat**** fûcking crazy.

Particularly given the age profile of attendees, but am I correct in thinking the churches aren't doing regular services at the moment?

Hopefully the hotels move stops the tourists coming in. Essential (non-social & non-tourist) occupancy only. No doubt it's a move to create more bed space if needed. Hotels will have to do mass cancellations (if there are any bookings to be cancelled at this stage) and advise those affected accordingly I'm guessing.

I wonder will all the people that look down there nose at the Dole take the handout of 400 should be a interesting conflict 🀣🀣

Churches are not holding public masses with several days I understand.
It can still be a place of solace for some to go on their own though.

Don't see how that is crazy.

I’d be advocating good health over solace. I’d be saying if you love your neighbor, keep the fûck away from them, if you want solace stay on your own as opposed to entering big fûck off buildings where people congregate, touching pews, furniture and all the rest.

Will DIY superstores be considered non essential?

If you spring a leak and need a length of pipe that's where I'd be going.

Well hopefully that’s a good sign for number today?
I’m sure they know how it’s trending today and have not seen anything massive.

Between this and construction sites I think it is going to turn out to be a fatal mistake and it wont be realised for another 2 or 3 weeks.

Is the priest going to go down and disinfect the seats after someone leaves? Haven't been to a church in years and only for funerals but I do remember hankies were often seen in hands while they were kneeling with their hands on the back of the pews.

They haven't really said anything about non essential travel have they? Just by closing non essential places they infer it. Wanna pick up some things in my gaff in Dublin to stop me going mad, but I've no intent in seeing any other human interaction while doing so.

Absolutely. Such a contrast to the US and UK leadership who care more about the economy than the people. I got a little emotional when Leo said our health was the most important thing.

    Utterly tragic...

Thanks for this, I needed a good laugh after the hysterics we've seen on this thread over the past 24 hours in particular. :D:D

Yeh, seems a bit unfair in that case. Maybe pay the 350 to people who are getting payments based on their PRSI contributions.

Exactly, if you qualify for JSB for instance this is only based on your PRSI contributions, so these people are hardly described as "scroungers".

Its hugely unfair, if you lost your job in last 3 months. Significant increase in hard times for some, and not for others. People on JSB should not be lumped in with those on JSA (means tested).

Should be extended to help those on JSB, its bloddy basic. I have a feeling this will be challenged.

    Hopefully not

Their situation hasn't changed so there's no need for extra cash, but et's not turn it into a dole bashing thread either.
