Leo and his speeches usually rub me up the wrong way but not today's speech. There's was no cheap words or phrases he usually likes to throw out.

Is it likely these measures will last longer than the 19th?

There was no lockdown announced today or yesterday in the UK.

    Lockdown a tabloid term.

Theres alot of nonsense in this speech, Leo seizing his reeling in the years moment.

Some of the information relating to business supports/unemployment assistance is extremely vague.

maybe it is just too complicated for you

Same as Boris last night. They're leaving the decisions to the employers. Chaos on London building sites this morning, workers are not happy as they know it is impossible to socially distance in that environment.

I’ve no respect for this post funnily enough either. Stop taking up room on this thread with nonsense.

Best to add straight to ignore.

Another excellent call from our authority’s. Delighted with how they have responded since cancelling the parade. Really feels like we are ahead of the curve when you look at other countries fumbling around.

    Great news about the payment.

It now seem that if you were laid off (permanently) for Covid 19 reasons, you will be entitled to €350 in unemployment payment.

My understanding is that this distinct from the circumstances where those laid off will be paid 70% of their wage (emergency wage subsidy) in order to maintain link with their employer.

It now seems that there are 2 levels of welfare recipients. Say you lost your job (through no fault of your own, not corona related) in January, you still only receive €203. Whereas, someone let go a month later due to corona receives nearly €150 more.

I have no issue with the emergency wage subsidy, where there is a link maintained with employer, but how can they justify the first payment?

Will there be any help with disability allowance? It doesn't seem so. I'm very worried how this will be affected?

They said a list of businesses etc will follow.

Will make it a lot clearer.

Why are RTE such traitorous fools with these information black outs?! ;)

Well you've shown your true colours. Do you realise that there are people out there who want a generalised outline of what's happening. Anyone interested in the nitty gritty can do that themselves. Also, if you knew anything about leadership, it's important that leaders are visible.

    Show your true colours?
I'm having a laugh with and you come out with than random comment?

    True what? :pac:
... Stop reading the thread dude. Think it may be effecting the old brain box.

People in the UK and America who happen to see this broadcast will be envious of the people who we have leading us at this point.

    Key points.
Well done to everyone making the effort in this unique time.
We need to continue and increase our efforts.
We are following what has emerged as best practice in South Korea and Singapore.
We are seeing positive signs of our efforts thus far.
