    no more rescue flights?

He's 69 and would rather old people die than maybe some economic hardship. How unfathomable. Of course he's wearing a crucifix. It seems a large section of American society call themselves Christian but think any form of socialism or free healthcare is the devil's work, oppose gun control, and will do whatever they can to protect the rich and keep the poor poor. They are absolute scumbags.

O Leary has said their planes are been made available for all EU countries , repatriation, medical supplies, food deliveries anything that's needed.

Spain is getting rough, apparently nursing homes are been abandoned with patient left there, which the Spanish army are checking all nursing homes now.

From reading here, people are starting to panic, there's no need to panic the HSE and experts in Ireland have been level headed and measured.

    What will be, will be.

    Relax.

We live in Europe, it’s completely different to how China for example handles these situations.

Don't talk to me about it  I tried to get them to come home but they said they felt safer there. They are in a quiet enough place and have their own small house so they can "bunker down". My Dad is at risk (has diabetes and had 2 surgeries last year) and is 73. They didn't want to take the risk on a flight which would have been packed and run the risk of picking it up. I tried to tell them it was a measured risk and that even if they got it, at least they would be treated here as our system is not saturated or full to the brim yet but they wouldn't listen.

Why did they go to Spain when it was obvious there was a brewing global crisis since January?

    Maybe they live there....

Theres a lag between implanting any measured and them being effective.

If the Spanish people are obeying their lockdown the number of cases will hopefully start to fall in another week to 10 days.

The Minister for Education has confirmed that schools and colleges will not reopen in the short term. No surprise about that announcement.

Not much use though - people that are in final years in college need a timeframe of when they expect to be closing until imo.

I know a few people who opted to stay in Spain, basically on the assumption that it would be better handled anywhere except by the HSE, due to the coverage of the Irish health service over the last few years and during the election. I'm not saying it's not deserved, but so far the HSE seems to be doing relatively ok, so far anyway.

Because the measures only stop the spread between homes and institutions but not within homes and institutions.

It has to get worse before it gets better.

Because they can't stay away from it  They spend half their lives there. I think it was late Feb when they travelled over. I'm so worried about them and also sad they won't be here when their granddaughter is born. I know it isn't the biggest issue right now, but just wish they had come home when it all kicked off.

Just don't get how it is so bad over there and no sign of rates decreasing:eek:

TeamViewer is shoite. And only for very basic requirements.

Also most servers aren't open to the wide world for inbound connections like that.. there would likely be a gateway which might be accessible through VPN.

My folks decided to ride it out too, my dad is 70 next month but they're both in good health. It's quiet where they are with spacious supermarkets, and way better hospitals than here. So I'm actually glad they stayed there rather than come back to Dubbers. Wish I could join them tbh.

There's more important things than a feckin bit of paper with your qualifications written on it.

Look, I'm guessing you are one of those soon to be college finishers so you should be fairly intelligent.

We don't know how bad this virus is going to hit us yet so we don't know when the colleges will open up again. My guess is September. But it's only a guess. Do you think many in Northern Italy give a sh1te about college at the moment?

Relax, do the social distancing thing and hopefully things will come back to semi-normality in the next three or four months.

I know what you mean, sure the IT workers need to be doing something and how dare anyone suggest an easier way.

I had a similar problem now after being laid off, one of the marketing team decided to use some of my hard work to suggest that one of the gardens I help designed is in full flower etc, by posting a picture of it and saying look everyone full bloom and flowers everywhere here this week,
Unfortunately we're closed but everything is fine here in the office and the gardens are magnificent this week.

But roses and sweet peas don't come into full flush until June or July

The emperors new clothes always comes to mind and when im back to work ill be a having a chat with the marketing team for undermining my work, and people's intelligence.

Sweet peas and roses flowering in March sweet Jesus

If this is more contagious than the flu then Italy likely has a few million people infected.

    I'm inclined to agree.

    Lets deal with the facts.

And the best source of those facts in the cruise ship.

Patient zero was on board for approx 5 days and was displaying symptoms (coughing) without knowing what it was.

The cruise ship had over 3,700 on board.

19% of the passangers contracted the virus, despite sharing the same pools, sauna, restaurants, onboard entertainment centres, lifts along with buses to and from attractions, as patient zero.

On top of this, the cruise has an air conditioning system which circulates air throughout the ship.

At the rate of infection this virus carries it's fair to say at least 80% of the ship would have been exposed to the virus either through the air or on surfaces (lift buttons, ladles and cutlery in the buffets, hand railings etc.) It is said that the virus lasted on such surfaces on the ship for 17 days.

There were 8 deaths (0.21%) despite the fact that the average age was 62 and everyone was in a very confined space.

This is a fair and reasonable example of how the virus spreads within a community.

It's likely that a few million Italians have the virus and don't even know it, just like on the cruise ship.

It doesn't change anything...we still need to contain it as we can't let our health care system get over stretched or else there'll be many needless deaths. But it does point to the reality the death rate isn't at 2-3 or even 4%.

I'm surprised there wasn't an uproar yesterday when Trump blatantly said he's putting the economy ahead of American lives. Dr Fauci no where to be seen, so it was all Trump. And the reporters in the room just moved on to next question, so surreal. Trump is right, he could pull a gun and kill someone live on TV and he'd still get re-elected. .

I believe it's just taking some time for the incubation period to do it's thing and reveal all the infections prior to lockdown.

Most should have a setup where you can SSL (or whatever) in.
Problem is that your average worker won't have a work laptop set up for it.
The IT nerds will be able to work away. The rest, maybe not so much
