He did shut down flights from Europe. We haven't even shut down flights from the rest of Europe. Not sure who is crazier or more incompetent to be honest.

    Hi Donald !

The main delay is at the labs isn't it?

Yes appears to be so. Surely we have more labs and lab analysts? Our medical science industry is pretty advanced.

Maybe time to get more private industry involved?

But the Irish seem to get annoyed watching him? I laugh as well. Irish seem to get so serious about him.

Are they confused about which country they live in?

Why would an Irish person be so keen to defend him for the last few years?

As for watching him, it at least gives us some perspective that no matter how bad we have it with politicians it could be a hell of a lot worse.

I feel so sorry for the USA if this guy is calling the shots.

It should be mandatory viewing for everyone voting in Presidential election :D

Serious question and forgive me if it comes across as scare mongering.

But we are looking at the UK and saying they're fecked / got it wrong / put themselves into lockdown.

    They have had 6650 cases
    We have had 1,125

    Their population 66.44 million
    Our population 4.83 million

They've had a case for every 9990 people
We've had one for every 4293

But they're much worse off than us?

    How?

In fairness to them, I think they have been

Look at all the tests arriving - when were they ordered?
Sites for testing must have been identified early on

If you mean me, I didn't defend anyone.

And yes the Irish defenders of Trump are just as bad as the Trump moaners. Both wasting time while our own politicians escape accountability.

Problem with this thread is it moves so fast, this has benn explained a couple hundred times already. We test more, unfortunately the only metric you can reliably use is the death count.

This has been done a million times. Tests mean nothing. Some countries are testing, some are not. Compare their deaths to ours.

I remember a few days ago an Italian doctor saying younger people were dying because the ventilators were in use by people aged 75+ . Then there was a big spike in numbers and it’s evened out last two days. Decisions are getting tough.
Yep, so now they're taking the ventilators off the 75+ crowd to save the younger patients.

Bad analogy maybe but the point is if the 10 infected people are not identified they will multiply and infect a lot more than 50, whereas if the 50 infected people are identified self isolated the disease will not spread.

Out of 50 people only 1 is likely to need hospitalisation.
Again, this benefit is from higher testing. Or even testing more accurately. It isn't due to there actually being a higher infection rate. You do want to identify a higher percentage of positive cases, but you don't want there to be a higher percentage of positive cases in a random sample.

I edit mathematicians' research for clarity of exposition for a living, and this is beginning to feel a bit too much like work, so I'm going to leave it here. Have a good evening and self-isolate.

    Construction allowed to continue.

The lockdown headline is proving to be wildly inaccurate.
