For those working from home, unemployed, stressed best thing to do, if you're in reasonable health is get a routine going.

Eat healthy, plenty of fruit, veg, good carbs like porridge, decent bread, potatoes etc. I'm on VitC, VitD, omega 3 oils, garlic tabs, multi vitamins for a poor immune system.

Get an exercise rota. Be it outdoor walking, cycling, running or an indoor bike or threadmill. If you have free weights use them and body core exercises like planks, pressure, bridging, situps etc. The stronger and fitter you are, the better your immune system will be and the better you'll be able to fight Covid 19.

Limit screentime. Only spend so much time updating on Covid19. We all know the dos and don'ts at this stage. Leave a bit of time for comedy, some escapism. Meditation if you do that. Prayer if that's for you.

Take one day at a time. It's much easier deal with anything when it's broken down into small manageable segments rather than trying to think 3 months ahead.

Though you may be unemployed you are not going to fight a war tmrw. The vast majority of us will be ok.

Online message boards can be dangerous. Like this one. Lots of good posts and info. But some stress us. Others make us angry if we strongly disagree with someone. Endless tit for tat on boards is a waste of time and energy and only tires you. Now I say this as one who has had to pull himself away from social media conflict too often.

A really good policy is to turn your mobile off at 9pm. I'm starting from tmrw!

    Good post.

I remember a few days ago an Italian doctor saying younger people were dying because the ventilators were in use by people aged 75+ . Then there was a big spike in numbers and it’s evened out last two days. Decisions are getting tough.

A week to wait for a test. This is surely a scandal.

7 days to get a test, and 48 hours to get the results after that.

Juat wondering are they spreading resources evenly. I'd say test centres down the country are underused and those in Dublin over subscribed.

Sounds like Trump going to treat it state by state, saying states are shut down with few cases, while New York needs a different approach

America is a federal state. Each state has it's own government.

    Turn off his speeches.

The main delay is at the labs isn't it?

Surely for the tests they could train people to complete the tests in a day and put them out in the field.

And dangerous if people feel they have to go to work.

Yes and if you test more you should find more infections.
That's not a negative, it's a positive because you can get them to stay away from people.

Imagine if you have a bunch of poisonous berries. If you only find 20 poisonous Berries and 18 people die that's bad testing. If you find 200 poisonous berries and 20 people die you've done a better job.
A higher testing rate is good. A higher infection rate is bad.

I can see the point you are trying to make, but you are wording it poorly.

To use your berry example: You are saying a higher infection rate is good.
Case A: You have 200 berries. 10 of them are poisonous.
Case B: You have 200 berries. 50 of them are poisonous.

    Obviously the second is worse.

It's bad alright as a lot of people will be negative by the time they get tested. At the same time if people self isolate while awaiting the test, in terms of infection spread it will be the same.

That's what was confusing me. I was taking my temperature 3/4/5 times a day - no fever. I had the cough but all I kept hearing was if you had a cough AND a temperature self isolate. Now it's 'or'.

A week to wait for a test. This is surely a scandal.

Why? The results of the test are only important for public health management.

If you have symptoms, you self isolate, regardless of whether or not you have test results. You tell your contacts you may have it and they should distance themselves further.

Agreed. But also the labs seem to have limited capacity. It's crazy these bottlenecks are happening after the time we've had to prepare.

HSE - 'We past the test results back to the doctor authorising them', Doctors it's the HSE contact team who's supposed to tell the patient.
With any patient result they always go back to the Dr that requested them.

Results that are released are transmitted to the GP practice via Health Link, a software program where GPs can see any lab results as soon as they are released.

I dont know why or if patients are told their results before their Dr is. That seems irresponsible and could cause panic. Think of any tests results you've ever gotten. Your GP has to go through them with you to explain what you should do next.

But the question is are we included in the tested numbers? even though we've had no results?
People that have had a swab sample taken but have not yet been processed are not inclused in test figures.

The number of tests that have been carried out, ~13,000 or whatever it is, is the number of swabs that have been processed by the lab and results released to the requesting doctor.

If we have a good contact tracking system, having the test result makes a difference as it would result in identifying other potential cases and testing/isolating them.

7 days of anxiety for starters and then 2 more waiting for a result.

In fairness, that's not trumps fault.

No I'm not saying that it's his fault, but desperate people could try anything if they hear that a certain ingredient may work and it's all they have to hand. I read that 3 people in Nigeria overdosed on it too. It's awful to think of what people feel they have to resort to. I am assuming the people that tried it were in a bad way at the time!

Why would he, is anyone listening to him. Each state seems to decide on what precautions they want individually.

So only shops that aren't food markets and accommodation and leisure providers.

Of course Sports Direct are already declaring themselves as uniquely placed to help Britain keep fit and healthy and therefore an essential store so they intend to stay open.

there twitter is already hounded by people telling them to close,
Unless they are making clothes for nhs workers like aprons masks etc.. they should close

He did shut down flights from Europe. We haven't even shut down flights from the rest of Europe. Not sure who is crazier or more incompetent to be honest.

USA did a good job closing travel early from China and Europe, when the MSM were calling him racist and people on here saying we should retaliate. At least now they can devise a plan state by state and have that extra leeway.

So how come europe isn't pushing out this Malaria drug, Trump pushing it out tomorrow, game changer..

Because Europe and other countries want to test it first.

Why isn't this explained by European media when reporting on America.

The US president has limited powers when it comes to local issues.
