It's actually a positive if you want to physically go to a shop, as Tesco etc are either struggling to keep the shelves full or have online deliveries with loads of items missing according to folks I've been chatting to. You know everything on the shelf in Dunnes is there for a physical shopper when you go. There's a place for both.

It's in a stores best interest to do everything they can to keep the customers coming back.

Very Hard to turn it around with all the deaths they've had, hopefully stem the tide and get a handle on it is the best Italy can hope for i'm afraid

Are we not in near full lock down any way at this stage, more and more things are been shutdown. Over the last few days national parks are close, playgrounds.

Fastfood chains closing down. More and more buissiness directing people to work from home.

By the end of the week we will be at near full lockdown. What else will we need to do ?

As someone who knows travellers do you think they will read the information and adhere to the washing of hands?

I'm more or less in lockdown for the past week.

I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home. I go out to the shop only when absolutely necessary, not to get a coffee, but to get the weekly essentials or to go to the chemist.

I go to my Mother's house and bring in the coal and briquettes etc. for her, all while she stays miles away from me as I'm passing through.

And that's it, I go nowhere else unless absolutely necessary.

That's what a lockdown is.

We don’t want an Italy style lockdown. If we shutdown all non essential shops / offices / etc we now we will have very restricted freedom still allowed out to go for a walk or pick up a click and collect. But if people continue to queue half a mile for a bag of chips, we’re going to end up imprisioned in our houses.

But he followed the guidelines? The airports were open. Ryanair was flying. Not his fault.......

From what I've read you shouldn't question the guidelines. At least he is trying to raise awareness.

No next step is everything closed but grocery stores and pharmacies. Not allowed leave home without some kind of government form for essential trip to say supermarket. Army and gardai patrolling streets 24/7.

They next step after that is nobody allowed out of their homes under any circumstances. Food will be brought to you. Anyone disobeying rules are physically locked in homes

Number of hospitalised cases in Lombardy has dropped, this would explain the drop in deaths as the most critical are getting better treatment now.

It seems that WHO approved data from China in not accepted by some but they can believe the unbelievable low death rate figures from Germany.
