I think now that it was a big mistake talking like anyone under 60 was immune.

exactly this...i think they started off with this mantra maybe to stop any mass panic developing...cos you know, normal intelligent people would be extremely concerned there's a global pandemic on the loose...

but what they didn't understand how the young really couldn't give a damn about anything so they totally missed a step by not allowing more fear and panic to prevail

in any future outbreaks, they'll probably play it differently

I was informed from the start it affects the elderly and people with underlying issues.

Sorry but most people knew this.

But late with the blame game

I should of been clearer it's not the bus I'm worried about it's being in work. I'm in an office but there's loads of us in there. I heard they are doing social distancing though so hopefully it's ok. I'm just a worrier. Sorry for the small rant and my own personal stupid woes.
2m distance at least, and ventilated space, if not, talk to each other & make a decision not to go in some few, its a matter of life/death so why do it

There's potential that the initial virus exposure can affect the severity of the case. Doctor said it on Sky a few days ago, so it was based on his own observations, not sure if it's the case or not.

Most takeaways in my area have gone with the stance of order online or by phone only. Even if you go their shop, they want you to call from outside and then they bring it out or beckon you in when it's ready. It's a decent idea.

I went to go this one this evening that wasn't enforcing anything. A shoebox of a spot. There were 7 customers in it and basically like sardines. I hung outside with the intention of going in when one or two came out. This one arrives up and says ''are they making ya stand outside?''. I said no but that it's packed in there so just gonna wait til one comes out. ''Ah I'm only getting a 3-in-1'' and goes in ahead of me. All I could do was call her selfish but no point getting into it anymore than that. Would really irritate you though. Most people are compliant but you'll always get someone who just thinks they're above it all. The business could also have done more too I suppose.

I don’t think I’d be comfortable eating from a take away or a deli at the moment incase someone preparing the food coughed over it. Maybe I’m just a bit OTT. I know it doesn’t make sense as I’m buying food put on shelves but I think the thoughts of someone else being careful with my food makes me uncomfortable. I only realised this when I went to make some food after forgetting to wash my hands after coming home!

I'm sure being exposed to high levels or multiple exposures adds to the risk. Your immune system is on the back foot before you even get going.

I'm confused about our official strategy at the moment. Is it flattening the curve and mitigation, or is it about suppression until a vaccine comes? Leo talks about flattening the curve and cocooning, the same as Boris did. But I thought the Imperial College London report advised Boris that this was inadequate and even optimal mitigation measures would result in mass deaths and total overwhelming of the hospitals, and they recommend suppression as the preferred option despite acknowledging it would have profound social and economic consequences. The report focused on the UK, but Ireland's health service will hardly fare better than the NHS.

So what strategy is our government following?

Social Distancing, Cocooning the Eldering and Most Vulnerable to It, Self Isolation if any Symptoms

Anyone know globally what the youngest death with no known underlying conditions?

It is hard to say thing like "no underlying conditions" as you may be having some problems even without you knowing about them.
Things like these are usually found when pathologist get involved which is too late for person in question. With quite a lot of deaths with this one there will be not a lot of follow up so trying to keep yourself in top shape as much as possible may be the best solution.

5000 new cases in New York today, neighbour of mine came back from NYC, wasn't asked to be tested or to self isolate upon arriving back to Dublin.

    "Ah sure we'll be grand"...
That's the attitude taken by our government and HSE. Its Italian flights all over again. People pouring in here from London and New York. And our government have no plan to deal with it.

Case number are not actual numbers. It's only an indication and not very useful for comparison.

How the hell did China get from 8000 cases a day to less than 50 in two weeks?

Have you watched any of the documentaries on how people were controlled? If you had a fever or suspected case you would be taken away by health professionals and quarantined. They controlled every aspect of people’s behaviour where possible. Eg scanning temperatures before entering supermarkets etc and setting up a databases that moment can be recorded and traced I’d imagine

The way this normally goes, ...

Hi X, how's things going ... had this guy die on me, just can't figure just why.
Hey sounds similar to a case I had last week, ... no, don't see any obvious connection.
Hey Y, didn't I hear you guys talking about a case with X which proved terminal?
Yeah, now you mention it! Reiterate for n.

Hey boss I think we may have a problem.
OK if you think so, check it out and write it up for me.
... OK. Boss, we definitely got a problem, here's what we've discovered, and the implications are disastrous!

What do uh mean? This is evidence? A few attention seeking subordinates, and you want me to press the disaster button!
It'll knock the budgets to hell. Higher-ups, will kill me and I'm not going to put my neck out for the chop, be the end of my career, then what'll my family do. Reiterate for n.

Anybody who believes this sort of scenario is unique to China or any particular race or system, is not living in the real world.

Just wondering with Harvey Weinstein, how can they release the information that he tested positive publicly, does he not have a right to privacy, or did Harvey lose that right when he was found guilty.

I know this coronavirus is a new virus and it's still being studied by all of them professionals like doctors, scientists, virologists, etc but what exactly does this mean? I know there's no official studies yet about this and it's just an initial observation but what does it mean?
