What happened to Italy was not the result of pandemic aware people, moving around while observing social distancing.

They all legged it out of Lombardy once the schools were closed and again when the lockdown came. Headed off to holiday homes and spread the virus.

Russia has told its citizens to go into lockdown for 15 days or go to jail for 5 years. That's advice for you.

How is it annoying, you have to cross to the other side of the road to overtake safely anyway. If people can keep 2 metres social distancing it must be possible for a car to keep 1.5 metres form a cyclist.
2 a breast reduces the chance of a driver attempting a dangerous overtake.

I forgot how touchy people are now, clam down.

I was defending two abreast, in a non-confrontational manner.

Is it wrong to say I find slow car drivers annoying ? You cant easily overtake on the roads round here (West Kerry), so sitting behind tractors, slow cars, sheep, etc I find annoying.. You had a bad day ?

    This is a virus thread...

We might get the full story of where the virus came from in time, otherwise the wet market origin is pure speculation. Facts not speculation that you are is what science is about so stick your Ignoble award up your hole. Stick to debating with your teenage buddies with your speculative BS.

They are about to get back to normal in Wuhan after two months of real sacrifice for the greater good and amazing organisation.

People here are walking around in groups sharing joints and queuing up at the chipper with their buddies and going to back doors of pubs to get in ffs.

Before you start patting them on the back remember one thing, it's blatantly obvious that they lied to the world about this virus for a long time.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

God it’s amazing the Shiite people will eat when everywhere else is closed.

Will you stop, nothing wrong with a snack box every so often.

Actually the original report about it's efficacy against covid-29 said there is potential to use it as a prophylactic.

Here's another report that's talk about it's use as a vaccine

    https://academic.oup.com/jac/advance-article/doi/10.1093/jac/dkaa114/5810487

It’s not a vaccine, it’s a treatment. It might be used as a prophylactic, but that doesn’t make it a vaccine

Cyclists need to practice social distancing, no groups side by side on busy roads or any roads

Also why are DIY stores open
    ?

And so it was that during the Great Pandemic 2020, the DIY stores were kept open so that anyone who was rich enough to own their own house could paint it - whilst eating fresh lettuce from their South Facing window boxes.

If we see say 100 or so new cases a day for the next the rest of the week which would be low is there a reason to relax some of the restrictions in place or do people still think we could see large daily increases and numbers like the UK Spain Italy. Like could the fact that the population density outside of say Dublin is so low that we don't need the same restrictions.
It's important to think of the cases per capita . Ireland is greporting at least 100 new cases everyday, France Spain U.K. And Italy are all at least 10x larger. So proportionally Irelands cases are not as bad as most of the mainland but still very significant, Ireland is reporting roughly the same number of daily cases as France per capita

Yeh blame the Chinese, normal to blame others in times of stress for some. Sad as it is.

It was tongue in cheek agreeing with someone they will rule the World. You went on the attack over fk all and I responded. Calm the fk down. Just Let it go. I'm done with this ****fight over fk all.

Yes, I will blame the Chinese, it is perfectly appropriate to lay blame where it lies. China has been the source of several pandemic scares and now a real one. Even the Black Death that wiped out possibly half the population of Europe appears to have likely come from China. The agitation appears to be entirely of your own making and origin.

Not sure about that. If someone from Dublin is paying for a holiday home or owns a place down the country they have every right to use it.

Nope. Pure entitlement - it's extremely selfish to take any action to spread the virus to a community you don't live in. These rural areas should be able to delay the virus as much as possible, and they are vastly less well-served by medical facilities than Dublin. These communities stand to suffer hugely and are already making sacrifices. I can't even go home to my family and when I see entitled people with more money than civic sense are carelessly going to my area without any regard for the people who live there, it boils my blood.

I suppose you could also say that if you want to cough on fruit and vegetables in the supermarket, you have every right to do so, because you're a customer?

Thanks will have a read of that later. I'm on Hydroxychloroquine for autoimmune problems, it would be interesting to see if how patients already on aka Plaquenil are affected by corona.

One thing I've noticed is that NI cases are much lower than Scotland and Wales (especially deaths). This is encouraging : it may suggest that this island is coping a lot better overall than GB.

"Lied to the world about this virus for a long time".

Right now, I'm not a fan of China or their practices and their wet markets and I'm certainly not going to defend them here. There's a few things that don't sit well with me. I don't think they lied about this virus for a long time. My understanding is that some people started showing up in hospitals in December showing signs of chest problems and pneumonia. It was in January when it was discovered that there's a new virus with a new pathogen. They really didn't have a long time to lie to the world about this virus.

you know like they try reducing cars by odd even number plates, how about reducing number people out by only allowing them out odd even birthdays (could only work well in countries that have mandatory id cards) (unless going for provisions)

or how about odd even house numbers so family can be together..

i guess they could still restrict cars to opw carparks with odd evens numbers

IIRC one of the very first clusters was in Castlepollard; maybe they never got that locked down...

Very interesting. 2 companies in Castlepollard (no need for names), both with strong links to Bavaria, Czech Republic, Northern Italy i.e. auto industry.

Just walked passed a Supermacs there. They were flat out, All the staff packed in like sardines bumping into each other.
The drive thru was overloaded so some people parked their cars and went inside, There was a full queue out to the door.

We need a full shutdown of all non essential businesses in this country. Greedy business owners.
I did a google search to try to find out whats Supermacs policy was for this event.
instead I got a link to how he plans to open more businesses and make more money.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/business/agribusiness-and-food/supermac-s-founder-aims-to-supersize-his-empire-1.4206806

You got all this from just walking past, **** we do love to exaggerate a story in this country.

If Harvey Weinstein has it that means it's spreading around a prison environment. That's not ideal

Working in a prison myself. It's a bit surreal. On the landings the prisoners are pretty much playing ball to be fair to them. But in exercise yards and recreation halls they're acting the b*llox because it's just themselves out there. There's also plenty of uncertainty among staff as to what the plan is if there's an outbreak. There's proposals to take shifts in blocks of 2 weeks solid on campus and things like that. It's another world in there that you mightn't think of but life has to go on.

That lad is getting a lot of hammering and it's not very fair. I'm not a fan of him. He was trying to make some sort of a point that didn't come across very well. He was arguing that some places will need to stay open like DIY shops so people at home isolating themselves or maintaining social distancing can keep occupied and he gave two examples of painting/DIY and gardening. You could probably add in a list of other shops that could help people during this time like bookshops and craft shops.

Yea I saw them alright. There’s another of a train pulling hundreds of army jeeps, I thought that one might have been some clever CGI.
