If Harvey Weinstein has it that means it's spreading around a prison environment. That's not ideal

How is it annoying, you have to cross to the other side of the road to overtake safely anyway. If people can keep 2 metres social distancing it must be possible for a car to keep 1.5 metres form a cyclist.
2 a breast reduces the chance of a driver attempting a dangerous overtake.

    That number will increase.

The swabs are cheap. The laboratory analysis is not. In the US patients pay for everything.

There isn't a shortage of kits. Sample taking kits were running low but did not run out. There is a constant supply of sample taking kits.

Aren't they adding the agricultural labs in order to up the throughput?
I have only heard that on this thread. I couldn't find a source for this.

I don't see how agri labs are capable to offer testing services.

Would they not be better cycling alone?

I know they couldn't imagine they were in the Tour de France but just for a short while :pac:

eniskerry today - tonnes of people standing outside cafe's
Lucan village today - a load of that lycra clad cycle crew stopping for a non socially distanced coffee at a cafe,

ice cream vans with queues everywhere, gigantic queue at woodies, its like we as a nation are trying to find loopholes to get next to hundreds of people.

Ice cream vans? It was 10 degrees today! Irish people have gone insane

Imagine when all this is over and you can go to the pub, get your hair cut, go out for a meal, attend a match, kiss a lady, shake hands with a stranger. We will all be giddy with excitement

You don't move around in a pandemic. It's pretty much top of the rulebook. Look what it did to italy

What happened to Italy was not the result of pandemic aware people, moving around while observing social distancing.

bought a few lengths of wood and screws so i can make a few windowboxes, got the compost and seeds aswell, ...

Raised bed garden is what you want. When you are done you can just spread soil over.
Going ahead full steam this year - with social distancing tending to your garden is what you want to pass time with added benefit of tasty fresh veggies.
I do have tomatoes, chili peppers, raddish and spinach every year but this year I am planting about 10 other things and increasing size of my veg patch.

Not sure about that. If someone from Dublin is paying for a holiday home or owns a place down the country they have every right to use it.

That's exactly what spread it in Italy and Spain. As soon as schools closed they rushed from cities to their holiday homes in the mountains and by the sea. End result - disastrous spread.

    Think about it.

Did you read his article at all ?

Therefore, we have to rely on studies of other coronaviruses for now. The closest approximation is probably the even more evil cousin of SARS-CoV2 the original SARS virus"

And you got you cannot be re-infected from that ?

There are different strains of COVID 19. They haven't found a vaccine for one of them nevermind the others. And that article making assumptions on SARS is irrelevant to what you originally posted.

No, but they caused it and then tried to cover it up making it 10 times worst.

I might get infracted for saying this but if this is true it couldn`t have happened to a more deserving person.

I imagine he's no stranger to getting tested for various viruses. Won't come a a great shock to him.

Just walked passed a Supermacs there. They were flat out, All the staff packed in like sardines bumping into each other.
The drive thru was overloaded so some people parked their cars and went inside, There was a full queue out to the door.

We need a full shutdown of all non essential businesses in this country. Greedy business owners.
I did a google search to try to find out whats Supermacs policy was for this event.
instead I got a link to how he plans to open more businesses and make more money.

The amount of people who can’t cook in this country all of a sudden is astounding.

My proposal as you call it, is simply a declaration that I, as a health person, am prepared to take the chance to aquire and process the virus, and move on.

How the fck is that silly when most of us are going to pick it up eventually no
    matter what precautions we take?

I'm just going to repeat that you're assuming the damaging effects of the virus will just be flu-like for you.

    https://www.propublica.org/article/a-medical-worker-describes--terrifying-lung-failure-from-covid19-even-in-his-young-patients
I spoke to a respiratory therapist there, whose job is to ensure that patients are breathing well.
    ...
Since last week, he’s been running ventilators for the sickest COVID-19 patients. Many are relatively young, in their 40s and 50s, and have minimal, if any, preexisting conditions in their charts. He is overwhelmed, stunned by the manifestation of the infection, both its speed and intensity.

This was on live yesterday, I mean what's the point in making up something like that? Did a whatsapp group post it as some round about way of pretending the press are hiding the full effects of the virus? Did you make that up yourself? Following a herd? Idiots on all sides these days.

I'm confused about our official strategy at the moment. Is it flattening the curve and mitigation, or is it about suppression until a vaccine comes? Leo talks about flattening the curve and cocooning, the same as Boris did. But I thought the Imperial College London report advised Boris that this was inadequate and even optimal mitigation measures would result in mass deaths and total overwhelming of the hospitals, and they recommend suppression as the preferred option despite acknowledging it would have profound social and economic consequences. The report focused on the UK, but Ireland's health service will hardly fare better than the NHS.

So what strategy is our government following?

It's not a vaccine, its part of treatment for people who have just become infected. There is indications it might help with the lungs

Actually the original report about it's efficacy against covid-29 said there is potential to use it as a prophylactic.

Here's another report that's talk about it's use as a vaccine
