McDonalds in UK and Ireland closing by 7pm tomorrow, one less place for all those disobedient teenagers to hang out

Was just looking at the live footage of Time Square further up the thread. Never been to New York but it looks a bit naff? Anybody been there?

    What's up there?

Its been confirmed more than once you can get reinfected.

It has not been confirmed. At all. There is a hypothesis with a very weak supporting case.

Ergo stop spreading misinformation. There is nowhere near enough information or case loads to confirm such a thing.

    No backtracking whatsoever.

I always thought Irish people had some cop on and were generally fairly intelligent.
Those assumptions have well and truly been blown out of the water now.

There is a serious amount of thick fks out there

I've had my suspicions about some even before this outbreak.
    It's confirmed those suspicions now
Another one confirmed is the utter selfishness of some too. Stockpiling and denying old folk and health workers vital supplies.
Also shows their stupidity.Swiping all the hand sanitizer whilst not realising that for it to be effective it needs everyone to be able to use it.Having those 50 bottles of it is pointless if other people have none to use

well if you knew everybody who has it then you could work from there. A lot of the present testing is shooting in the dark. I dare say by the time they get around to testing some people they are already over it and negative. Bear in mind Ireland is full of hypochondriacs who think they have every ****ing ailment under the sun. ;)

It will start to turn into a novelty factor. People will want to contract it to feel included. The new trend:)

It says a lot that a 3rd World country is taking such drastic steps to insulate and protect their citizens.

Lockdown is loosening in Wuhan. Public transport will resume this week and people will be returning to work . Almost two months since lockdown now

Are the Chinese not concerned about a reemergence of infections once restrictions are lifted and people start to go about their business?

Like what has actually changed in an area/community from pre-lockdown to post-lockdown?

As you can see with the quote i never said case loads i said more than once.

Second bout reinfection whatever ya want to word it, theirs a chance it can go again on ya point of this was saying what difference does it make if a doctor has got it if theirs a chance they can get it again

How do the you know you can't get reinfected?

    We don't.

But one of the Epidemiologist doctors who worked to eliminate smallpox..
    https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/03/the-doctor-who-helped-defeat-smallpox-explains-whats-coming/
Since it's novel, we’re still learning about it. Do you believe that if someone gets it and recovers, that person thereafter has immunity?

So I don't see anything in this virus, even though it's novel, [that contradicts that]. There are cases where people think that they've gotten it again, [but] that's more likely to be a test failure than it is an actual reinfection. But there's going to be tens of millions of us or hundreds of millions of us or more who will get this virus before it's all over, and with large numbers like that, almost anything where you ask “Does this happen?” can happen. That doesn't mean that it is of public health or epidemiological importance
    ...
By slowing it down or flattening it, we're not going to decrease the total number of cases, we're going to postpone many cases, until we get a vaccine—which we will, because there's nothing in the virology that makes me frightened that we won’t get a vaccine in 12 to 18 months.

They're also looking for a viral serology test, to test for previous exposure antibodies. Current drop-of-blood tests take 5-7 days.

    Nope.

The self entitlement in this country knows no bounds.

Only care about themselves. Just look at the amount of litter in this country.

    Selfish dimwits.

If we see say 100 or so new cases a day for the next the rest of the week which would be low is there a reason to relax some of the restrictions in place or do people still think we could see large daily increases and numbers like the UK Spain Italy. Like could the fact that the population density outside of say Dublin is so low that we don't need the same restrictions.

Do any of you feel we will see a full lockdown here?
Pharmacies, grocery shops and essential businesses only

As far as Dublin and Cork are concerned pretty much certain. The rest of the country could go either way.

Went again at 3...took one look and turned around not worth it... absolutely heaving with big groups of people.

maybe someone who is tech minded could put up a list/map of all the beaches, parks and forests etc near dublin and cork to help enable physical distancing? alot of these people are probably new to idea of being outdoors?

Absolutely no way will there be or should there be any notion of restrictions being relaxed for a long time to come. Stricter restrictions are more likely to happen.

Quite a few cafes, bookshops and fast food places still open today. All with measures in place for social distancing. I'll be supporting these places that stayed open during the troubles.

Put yourself out of your perpetual misery and get off boards.

I've never seen an optimistic post from you, long before this virus came along.

In fairness your proposal is a bit silly. What if you need medical attention, overloading the system even further.

The lockdown was so strict and for so long that even the asymptotic cases will have cleared it at this stage.

They were very strict in confirmed cases going to hospital as opposed to self isolating at home, as it was being spread within families.

There are massive logistical issues with their guidelines going forward I can’t wrap my head around. Fair enough, quarantine everyone coming in for 2 weeks and test them. There won’t be many coming in anyway, apart from Chinese people returning home. But what about flight crew on international flights, etc. Not that there would be many but there’d be freight pilots, etc.

Only thing to consider is if there’s even a hint of a new outbreak it’ll be straight back to lockdown.

40k backlog waiting to be tested will at least triple our cases i would guess

eniskerry today - tonnes of people standing outside cafe's
Lucan village today - a load of that lycra clad cycle crew stopping for a non socially distanced coffee at a cafe,

ice cream vans with queues everywhere, gigantic queue at woodies, its like we as a nation are trying to find loopholes to get next to hundreds of people.

And another win for the environment as many of them tend to throw the waste out the window of their cars when they're finished.

They have smartphones, a mini computer in their hands with maps and all sorts of sh1t and they're too dense to use it.

People with zero cop on, expecting their usual Sunday hangout to be uncrowded but lacking the foresight and brains to fathom out an alternative site. Bloodymindedly, they park up and join the throngs.
