I have 3 young kids aged 7,6 and 2.5 we need to get out but I'm going in big open areas when we are such as woods and trails and even the kids the 2.5 year old now keeps her distance from people. I have a pregnant wife who is riddled with severe morning sickness so I'm torn but I cant have 3 kids in the house all day.

I bring them out in the morning and we play in the garden in the afternoon. I've not had them near a shop and only I go out for small bits and essentials.

Cant understand why large groups of people are getting away with congregating without any notice of the sacrafice others are going through.

My kids have not seen their friends now in 3 weeks, their grand parents in the same.

Well done. In the same both. Facetime nana everyday. Garden every day. Different beach every 2nd or 3rd day for a 15 min walk, not Sat or Sun. Nobody has been inside our door and kids have not been allowed out, and food is delivered 1 a week.
    Tough? Yes.
    Necessary, yes.

I'm probably a bit slow here but you know the way there are 700+ cases of C19 confirmed to date. What about those that got it but have now come out clear at the other end.Are those cases deducted from the total number?

I think that's total cases including 5 recovered, 4 deaths?
    Open to correction though.

How many people are ordering tests because they have a slight sore throat or a headache or whatever? Are tests being prioritized if people have a fever, serious cough and are those people going to the same test Centre's as those that may be a bit paranoid and thereby putting themselves in more danger of catching it?

A friend of mines daughter was tested for it recently however it turned out to be influenza B. The doctors told them that the majority of people being tested in the NW area with possible symptoms have come back as having Flu-B. I had it a few months back and it’s still doing the rounds.

You can only get tested by referral from gp, if you are in hospital and then there are the ones tracked down by hse if in group that may have come in contact with someone positive.

Is that the fatality from the East? Some talk of a fatality also in the South (Kerry)

Underlying condition could be asthma, obese, diabetes or something alot more serious dont let the word fool you thinking its a really bad condition you would be need to be fatal with this virus.

They wouldn't cover the equivalent of 15 euro for the test?

Tests are free now, but the medical costs are in the tens of thousands, people who test positive are being hospitalised and isolated, so people don't want the tests.

Anyone see the WhatsApp videos of the National Guard being mobilised in NY and Miami?

There's a few of us : Norway, Denmark, Finland and Israel seem to have something of a lid on things as well.

Finland aren't testing so that's totally skewing their figures.

Can we go the same way ? Numbers are ominous.
As the US, no. Our numbers will continue to increase and it will be nice if they did so at the 15% of the last couple of days. We'll see where we are in a week or two.

The person in the east hasn't had any age confirmed.

There was a previous link to a tweet that said someone aged 18 died in the UK..think there might be confusion here

Maybe... maybe not. I guess we'll find out over the next few months!

Plenty of researchers still study SARS. It hasn't been forgotten about.

Optimism is important, particularly at times like these... but so is realism too! :)

I think I am being real, this is going cripple enconomys and may kill who knows how many and that is why I'm sure there will be a vaccine because first it will make companies a **** load of money and second it will save lives. I am a realist and money talks

You don't order a test, your GP will ask you a series of questions and they make the call on whether you need the test.

About 6000 cases just got taken away from the US total. Was it misreporting before or double counting?

How was worldometer off by that many cases? I get it happens but I am curious what exactly happened.

this was happening yesterday too with other countries and less numbers.

I drove from Fanore to Doonbeg looking for a quite place for a surf.

Fanore, Lahinch, Spanish point was like an August Bank Holiday weekend.

The beach at trumps had around 50 cars lined along the road entrance, I avoided that place too I know I know trump and avoidance etc but there was families there with other families and they not giving a sh1t about distance.

Went down a windy dirty potholed road and found a hidden beach and only one van and two people.

What the fck is wrong with people,

From talking to friends and family and hearing of a number of them waiting for test, we seem to be testing large nos as a precaution rather than expecting them to have the virus.

Exact opposite really of what we're seeing across the water. So even if the figures go up a lot over the next few days, hopefully were just capturing cases that would have been missed elsewhere. The important bit is that the deathrate stays low. Similar to Korea and Germany in the approach.

How do you go about asking for a precautionary test as opposed to having symptoms?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,265 ✭✭✭youtube!

Italy first case Jan 31, by Feb 28 they had 650 cases so 28 days.

Ireland first case Feb 29 today we 906 cases so that's 22 days .

    This is really frightening .

It also needs to be stressed that an underlying condition is not necessarily a known underlying condition.

Or an underlying condition that mightnt stop you living to a ripe old age.

The underlying condition stat is being held like a comfort blanket to some people.

Is there anywhere to find details of the Irish fatalities i.e. age, location and under lying other illnesses etc.,?

Before I get attacked for wanting this information, I think it is helpful to know, might scare some folks, might relief others anxiety and get rid of curiosity, speculation, lies and gossip

I do understand families may not want to release but surely in this pandemic all is helpful, especially to medical staff still researching

So this might trigger some sensitive souls but....

I'm late forties, fit and healthy, My attitude is I want to get the damn thing, fight it off, as a healthy immune system will, quarantine for the recommended time, and get on with my life.

If I get it and recover do I get a badge to say I'm allowed to act normal again?

Kits will not be a problem. They are working on a deal for 100K kits from China every week. Labs stuff I don't know how quickly they can turn it around but they may add more labs to the network.

THEY are a problem. There are not enough in the country right NOW to test the 40,000 waiting to be tested.

Labs. NVLR does 70,000 tests annually. They have now reached their capacity.

3rd hand info disclaimer, not gospel..... It was a man aged 90

Source, my friends wife is a nurse in the hospital where the poor man passed away, she does indeed work in the east, he told me of the death before it was released so its adding up as true so far.

Most takeaways in my area have gone with the stance of order online or by phone only. Even if you go their shop, they want you to call from outside and then they bring it out or beckon you in when it's ready. It's a decent idea.

I went to go this one this evening that wasn't enforcing anything. A shoebox of a spot. There were 7 customers in it and basically like sardines. I hung outside with the intention of going in when one or two came out. This one arrives up and says ''are they making ya stand outside?''. I said no but that it's packed in there so just gonna wait til one comes out. ''Ah I'm only getting a 3-in-1'' and goes in ahead of me. All I could do was call her selfish but no point getting into it anymore than that. Would really irritate you though. Most people are compliant but you'll always get someone who just thinks they're above it all. The business could also have done more too I suppose.
