Can't be genuine haha the ****ing state of that story

I'd like to think I'm pretty calm and rational. The thought that someone can have such little regard for other people's health, that they can't take 20sec to wash their hands, is really upsetting.
We're in the middle of a global pandemic but can slow the spread by each making simple efforts.

Do you realise what AI can do these days compared to even 5 years ago, even 12 months ago.
Yes most do, but AI only as good as hard data fed into it, and to a more limited extent initial assumptions.

Apologies if this has been covered already but cannot find it...

Why is HSE not publishing number of tests carried out per day?

i.e 121 new cases today is very good news if they carried out 50% more tests, less so if they carried out less tests.

The number of new cases is fairly meaningless without knowing the number of tests in my opinion.

It seems pretty obvious to me but am I missing something?

There is clearly a backlog of tests at present.

Why is there no vaccine for SARS, its because funding was pulled because it died out and nobody needed it. Plus it was 18 years ago, we are 1000s of times more progressed than back then.

That's a young naive chap talking. In medical terms we haven't advanced much from 2002. You make it sound like 1918 to today.

I had to go to the vet to pick up a cat, in Clare. There were a lot of people out and about enjoying the lovely weather. I think one of the things that makes it look bad is that family groups, which may be distancing from other groups, make it look worse than it probably is, though the groups have to get within 2m to pass on footpaths and a narrow bridge.

families are meant to socially distance while out i read/heard, even if they don't indoors, not sure how or whats the point, more socially acceptable or something?

Does anyone know what the average number of tests are per day ?

To even be counted in the UK you need to be hospitalized.

It seems to me that critical is pretty much the hour before your death. The UK's numbers are horsesh*t

I follow less than 200 people on Twitter; I guess maybe 40% of those are in the U.K. I know of at least 4 of them who have been confirmed to have Covid-19.

A cousin who works in the NHS as a medical receptionist told me one of their patients was in hospital with the virus. There wasn't even a suggestion that she, the doctor, or the practice nurse (all with whom the patient interacted, face to face) would be tested.

But hey ho, Boris will get Covid-19 done.

Hopefully that scares some younger people into wising up, and indicates it isn't just old people that is can kill. Pretty tragic.

There are reasons for numbers going down temporarily. The number of tests being carried out and the false, false, positive nature of tests over a 2 week period.

I dont know who the person is that you are referring to. But there is no vaccine or treatment at this time.

Any bit of positivity will result in people taking chances. As it is some people are not taking social distancing seriously.

There is no room for complacency WHATSOEVER.

    Nothing horseshít about it Niall.

The hore**** comment was in reference to no vaccine. I take your point but people are making a big effort and it's good to be postive and tell people the efforts they are making could be working, if you keep telling them how **** things are, they will think the efforts being made are fruitless.

This is a fear mongering post - apart from the fact that the outbreak was centered on a few areas in Northern Italy and where most of the cases are from, it would also need to be based on number of tests done as well

So basically a BS fear mongering post - we are nothing like Italy at the moment

An 18 year old died of Coronavirus in England in the last 24 hours.

The young are not invincible to this.

    Had an underlying condition though.

    snakeoil nonsense.

That said I think with normal human ingenuity and lots of money, and. multitasking ( many countries and may companies) spending time on this we could develop a vaccine faster than normal. Basically we have to.

(And....) I was passing a shop the other day and heard a loud series of coughs. Looked in and saw the Sales Assistant spluttering all over her hand.
Walked in and said really politely (honestly, I keep it polite and try to sound light!), "sorry, excuse me but you may not realise you're completely visible. It would be best not to cough on your hand".
She told me, she actually said, "oh it's OK. I'm only back from being sick but it was only flu. It's not that swine flu thing, or whatever it is that's going round. But thanks anyway." She then rolled her eyes.
The Sales Assistant that was coughing all over her hand, works in a jewellers. Nice.

And she hadn't a clue it was called Corona Virus?
How did she manage to get a job at all?

It plays a big part in developing vaccines

Yes, it reduces the work required by humans. It doesn’t develop vaccines though, humans still have to do that task.

Mad that they had massive crowds at spring break a couple of days ago!

Yes and in Florida which is where a huge number of the most vulnerable groups have homes. Expect a huge spike in positive cases there in the coming weeks.

    .

That sentence makes no literal sense. If we are increasing testing and the trend of the number of people in total testing positive is falling, it's good news.
