They are on a true exponential curve. Set to pass China in just a few days, present trends continuing.

Anyone have a total population figure for the USA at present?

    Overtaking Spain just now.
I fear America is going to be hit extremely badly hit by this, for all sorts of reasons. The culture of feck all social medicine for one, and profits before people. South America... :(

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

I would think if you are being so OCD about the obvious things you will miss the small things, you just cannot analyse every element and second of your life - you will send yourself nuts
Just practice good hygiene and you will likely be grand and if you catch it there's a very good chance you will be fine

You right,I have anxiety and we try to control a lot of situations that are outside our control.

Not entirely surprising given their population and trans-continental mobility. Will be tough viewing but the big states are mobilising.

You would think that they are better positioned to police lock-downs than us Europeans are

The health of the person and the immune response to this is clearly related to age, though. Thats clear.

Hardly. I'd rather be 60 and healthy than 25 with HIV or fighting off TB.

I'm sure the postman would love carrying hundreds of positive tests in the back of his van. What could go wrong

This has nothing to do with Trump but with a string of presidents dating well back. They will be hit hard as half of americans are obese with underlying health complications from lifetimes of bad diets.

Yes but cases have still grown by over 1000% in the last 7 days which is astounding, it is growing much much faster than cases in European countries are and they are growing fast as well by any measure

    Ireland = (only) 102 new Corona cases . . .

I wonder is this the turning point? The beginning of a downward trend?
The next two days figures will be very interesting indeed.

Maybe we have it on the run!

But this is not the time for messages about global warming, she probably realises that. Most countries are in partial lockdown and their governments are fighting the virus.

Personally I think the global crisis boosts her campaign rather than weakens it. She has been warning of a world where society gets turned upside down by forces outside its control....that will surely resonate with many people.

We don’t need people warning us about global warning, the planet will re balance the equation by getting rid of enough of the sickness that threatens it. Aka humans.

I mean, yeh. But even if that is true, neither are that common in Africa, although they are more common than the rest of the world. It also hot there which tends to slow down the virus.

The 2009 flu epidemic affected Africa less than the rest of the world. I cant yet post links but you can google that yourself.

On the Greta silence... overpopulation is a massive environmental threat. Imagine she's a bit conflicted at the moment. Wiping out 10% of the population would do wonders for the environment.

Please folks, try to remember that this crisis too shall pass. One way or another, this current set up isn't forever. We'll get through it.

With a coordinated effort, the right equipment and some training they could be picked up safely with oversight from the HSE.

This is not flu, its a different virus, there speculation is that hot temperatures do not mitigate its spread.
